Seth, Get treatment from an E/P early.....don't waste time. Hopefully the measures they try will be helpful to you. Very knowledgeable people on this board will make specific doctor recommendations for you, being located in Oregon. However, in this great country we live in, you can travel very easily. I'm driving Sunday from Florida to Texas (almost 900 miles) to see Dr. Nataby kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Seth, I was diagnosed 1/14/14 with afib while in the local hospital for a minor procedure. I was never bothered by any irregular heart feelings at the time and considered myself to be in good shape, exercising almost daily in a vigorous manner. I never felt a racing heartbeat nor any pounding in my chest. I too was ignorant of this defect at the time of diagnosis. Even after diagnosis I coby kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Congrats Murray! I'm having mine next Tuesday with Dr. Natale. Hopefully we will both follow in the footsteps of the many people on this forum who have had great success after ablation. Good luck to you. Kenby kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, Johnny. I'll get mine next Tuesday if all goes well. Kenby kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
David, Congrats! I'm hoping to join you soon on that side of the fence! Natale ablation scheduled for 1/27/15. Kenby kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Mailman, Thanks for the input! Kenby kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Smackman, Excellent.......exactly the feedback I was looking for. Shannon/Smackman, Even though it isn't monitored daily by a person, certainly it is screened by the software receiving the raw data for abnormalities and if present, an alert is sent to the physician's office for review.......is this correct? If not, then it would be missing the greatest characteristic I was hopinby kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Greetings to all, I'm headed to Austin for a 1/27/15 ablation with Dr. Natale. To those of you who have preceded me and received the implantable Linq Monitor, can you respond with your experiences? Is there any reason not to get it? I would prefer that my heart is monitored 24/7 for arrhythmia in lieu of sporadically whenever a holter or other manual monitor is used, especially sby kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Craig, Thanks for taking time to comment and the well wishes. I feel confident in moving forward with Dr. Natale. I will be prepared for our office visit......I know he is a very busy practitioner and I wouldn't have it any other way......his time spent healing people in the Cath Lab is too valuable to waste away in the office setting. I am excited about my 869 mile drive to Austinby kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Anti-Fib, Yes, I check my carotid pulse frequently throughout the day. Today, I can pretty much tell by the pulse check. Early on when I was completely ignorant to this condition, I really didn't understand as well. Being asymptomatic during the actual Afib only exacerbated the problem of me identifying it. Today I use the AliveCor device to confirm when I think my pulse is slightly iby kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie, Done. Check your email! Kenby kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Anti-Fib, You asked if the Flecainide was effective......I don't think it is and I don't think it ever was since beginning it in May. The initial dose of 50mg twice daily was quickly accelerated to 100mg twice daily after they saw the 239 heart rate during the exercise while using the 24 hour holter monitor. I never really had any effective way of knowing how much Afib I had duringby kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Anti-Fib, Thanks for jumping in and sharing your experience. Actually, I'm still on the Flecainide. In the December office visit where we reviewed the 46% ejection fraction, the E/P suggested reducing the Flecainide from 150mg twice daily to 100mg twice daily. I've done that. He also suggested reducing the Metoprolol ER from 25mg twice daily to 25mg once daily. I've actuaby kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Mailman, Thanks for the positive vibes! I appreciate it. Onewaypockets, Thanks for sharing your success. It makes me feel better to hear positive results. Kenby kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
My One-Year Journey With Afib It was EXACTLY one year ago today, January 14, 2013, that I went into a local hospital to have a minor procedure done. I was as calm and peaceful----no anxiety whatsoever---as a person could be. The nurse was busy preparing things----inserting IV, checking BP, asking routine questions---then she checked my pulse on my wrist. She asked if anyone ever told me I hby kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Great news, Shannon! I hope things continue to go well with you both!by kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon, Best wishes to you and Magdalena. You are both in my prayers. Safe travels! Sincerely, Kenby kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Jackie! I like your style too. You've given me plenty to consider. I'll get started on it. I just had a can of tuna with a handful of almonds for lunch.by kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie Thanks for the prompt response. I can do that. If I can immediately cut out alcohol and caffeine, I can cut out bread. Can you recommend a guide/resource/website that you like for the things I need to cut out and the best way to go about it? As you know, you can read anything anywhere and many times the lines get blurred. Since you have so much experience on the matter, please poby kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I just returned to this site today and saw the responses from you guys………honestly, after reading them all, it is a bit overwhelming to consider the kindness, compassion and caring you all have for complete strangers, donating your time and efforts to helping others. I can’t thank you all enough for your responses. I will try to respond to all of your responses in the order you posted. Georgeby kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
OK, I didn't want to hijack the topic from another poster about changes in Afib........so I'm creating my own topic. Greetings to all, This is my first post here at Afibbers....nice forum you guys/gals have. First a little background,.....then a couple of questions to GeorgeN about the app he described in this posting. I was diagnosed with Afib in January 2014.....52 yoa,by kls5834 - AFIBBERS FORUM
