Made in Candler, NC. Good to see that town is producing more than just the toxic fumes from the packaging plant in the middle of it! If you’ve ever driven I-40 headed to Tennessee, you know what I’m talking about. I’ll have to give this a try. I’ve sworn off Doctor’s Best because of the fact it’s made in China now. I use the Healthy Origins powder, but the taste isn’t great. Have to force it dby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Regular licorice, yes. But not the deglycyrrhrizinated. God, I hate that word. It rivals Serbo-Croatian for lack of vowels. Let’s replace it with something simple, like “dee-gee”.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Vitamin D3 should increase Ca absorption through the gut, but also direct the Ca into the bones and not the soft tissue. If it is causing issues, you might consider taking your Ca intake to zero (or as close as possible). Dairy industry ads notwithstanding, a healthy adult body between the ages of about 18 to 70 really needs very little calcium, if any, at all.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
I wouldn’t think so. I use it and I’m a textbook vagal AFer.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes, no downside unless you have an allergy to a supplement or something that’s in it. Always start off in small doses and ramp up. Remember it takes time, patience, and a little bit of the scientific method.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Seriously doubt the connection between L-arginine and reduction in palpitations or a-fib. If it’s even on the list, it’s number 100-and-something.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
I do use both. Taurine has some cardio benefit, just don't go crazy with it. I take 2g/day, split between AM and PM. L-arginine I take in the morning a few hours before I usually workout in the gym at lunchtime. It's supposed to relax blood vessels and lower blood pressure by helping create the blood gas nitric oxide. There's supposedly an exercise benefit. I don't have any emby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Any health food store or vitamin shop is fine. Neither one of those is particularly expensive or needing to be in a particular formulation like the magnesium. Easiest just to order online at iherb.com in larger quantities if you ask me.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuotePompon. As long as I'm this kind of vagal afibber, EC is a stupid option. I agree. In vagal cases, I’d try for chemical cardioversion rather than electrical. Ask for Propafenone or flecainide, maybe a low-dose beta to go with it, and give it 24 hours or so to work before heading to the electric chair.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteMSA I was actually threatened by an Accident and Emergency doctor that I would be evicted from their hospital if I didn't agree to taking it. I left willingly. Good choice.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Another interesting (and off-topic) story is Alan Shepard and Menier’s disease. Flew Mercury and Apollo. Also made a tee shot on the moon. Speaking of the moon, for those of us in the Western Hemisphere, there’s a killer eclipse coming up Sunday night. Don’t miss it.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
No, neither drug is used by any doctor who has read a medical journal in the last 30 years. Deke had lots of episodes. He abstained from alcohol and took the medication to keep the episodes at bay. Whether or not that completely eliminated it we’ll never know. Pilots and astronauts lie to the flight surgeons all the time. When they want to fly, everything’s hunky-dory. When they don’t want toby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes, this is known history. Deke was selected for the Mercury program but never flew until ASTP (Apollo-Soyuz Test Program), the last flight of an Apollo capsule and the famous, one-and-only, Saturn-IB launch atop the "milkstool" platform at Kennedy Space Center's pad 39-B (39-A was already in work for Shuttle at the time). Yes, you can have an MRI without the contrast. I wasn't injected with anything. A CT scanner has a big, rotating ring and the scan is much shorter. An MRI is a stationary "doughnut" and buzzes like crazy when the field is engaged. The scan takes a lot longer. Often times they'll give you headphones to listen to music while they do the scan but, yeah, forget that workingby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Is it a CT and not an MRI? I suppose both are used. Mine was a delayed-enhancement MRI, says so on the report.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteZb3 @wolfpack- that certainly sounds very grim. I have given it a cursory google search and what you are saying seems sound - that lifting does indeed stress the heart. A shame that its not really emphasised at all, I had no idea until today and I have been lifting for years. I did have some scan on my heart (I think it was just an x ray and a heart echocardiogram or something) and they saiby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteZb3 Thank you for your response. I haven’t had any side effects from the flec. Yet I heard about people having a horrible time on it. I assume it’s possible for side effects to appear later? I am fine with having an ablation but New Zealand is a small country and there is no one on the list of approved ablationists. Is it better to travel somewhere for that and pay a lot of money? I do aby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ablation is probably the best choice given your age. While it’s good that the medications work for you, there’s almost no chance that they will continue to do so for another 60 or so years. And why risk the side effects for that long? How much weightlifting do you do? And what type? Lifting huge weights, especially the bench press, puts a lot of mechanical strain on the heart and can cause theby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quotesilviageci Any suggestions on how to stop an episode of vagal afib? Things that are vagolytic. Exercise. But often that’s not really an option since vagal episodes happen in the evening or at night, and who wants to run a mile or two at 11PM? What follows I DO NOT RECOMMEND, for the record. No, it's just that the manufacturer adds potassium chloride to the drink. You could do the same by putting salt substitute (KCl) from the grocery store into a cup of tomato juice.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
The Kardia should be far better than the BP cuff. I’m a bit surprised that it said possible AF with such a low rate. Usually it kind of “gives up” if the rate is below 50. Although I’m not 100% sure on that, as my lowest AF rate was 55. Stay away (far away) from any EP who says he or she can do an ablation right away. If you’re on Natale’s list then stay there. That’s exactly where you want toby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuotejohnnyS I was assuming that since they ablate PVCs, why couldn’t they ablate PACs? Because the ventricles are thick and PVCs often have a well-defined focal point if they can find it. The atria are paper-thin and will have multiple foci if some lawmaker named Murphy is to be believed. The thing to be cognizant of with ventricular ablation is that the practitioner does have to advance tby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
It’s interesting, for sure. The first link is a sensationalist UK rag. The second is a bio-tech startup trying to sell stuff. That being said, I do think the technology has promise. I’d give it 5 years to see whether it’s “got legs” or not.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
What is the form of the magnesium? Some are better than others, the amino-acid chelate being the best for oral intake. 6 months is certainly long enough to draw conclusions about the effectiveness of supplements. You might want to look to start anti-arrhythmics and beta blockers or find a good ablationist and get on his or her list.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Get the Kardia. It will correctly diagnose AF (it calls it "possible AF", but that means AF). Skip the subscription service and the paid analysis stuff. In that case it won't store old rhythm strips but if you want to keep one just email it to yourself right away or print it. If you have specific questions about one you can then get it to your cardiologist or, if it's not urgeby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
From what you describe, it sounds like a failed cryo-ablation. We like to define ablation success, whether it be cryo or RF (radiofrequency), as freedom from atrial arrhythmia for a period of one year or longer without the use of any anti-arrhythmic medication. By those standards, your index ablation did not work. This could be for a couple of reasons: 1) The cryo-ablation did not succeed in fullby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quotemwcf OK so a few lucky individuals like you have been successfully ablated to the point where - if I recall correctly - you don't even feel a single ectopic. That said, many other Natale ablatees do continue to notice PACs and short runs of PACs etc. I'm not a Natale ablate, but I do get ectopics frequently. It all depends on hydration levels and how I've been doing with elby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Fibrosis alters the electrical substrate of the atria. Think of perfectly healthy atria as a wire - electricity can flow uniformly through a wire. Now dip the wire in acid so it corrodes and gets lots of pitted and oxidized areas. Now electricity can't flow uniformly through the wire. It has to find a way around the bad spots. That's what fibrotic tissue in the atria is doing - stoppingby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuotejohnnyS That’s exactly what studies are concluding; no fibrosis no Afib. Now, wouldn’t the obvious next step be to screen for fibrosis and determine the likelyhood of Afib? I mean isn’t it easier to ultimately ablate individual sources of PACs then Afib with remodeling? AF can certainly occur in a heart with no fibrosis. It did in mine. Fibrosis is a risk factor, not an outright cause.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey Not sure how we got from PVCs to v-tach, though. I'm pretty sure JohnnyS is in no danger of v-tach. My fault. I posted upthread about PVCs being a little bit more dangerous than PACs in my opinion, because they could be a sign of tendency towards v-tach. If you have 4 or more PVCs in a row (and you'll need a monitor to catch that, you can't judge by feel), that'by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
