EFT for stress and anxiety that comes with Afib Recently I attended a 6-hour seminar series on Stress Management presented in three-parts hosted by the physical therapist I consulted for upper back pain that had become a continual annoyance. The first seminar was on Alternative Treatments for Pain; the second was Stress – The Final Frontier with the observation that: “Estimates are that 85-91by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Nancy - I use the DFH Mineral Complex and have for years... find no problems with it...I use only 2 instead of 3 capsules. Additionally, my FM MD has me taking 4 - 5 capsules of their L-5-MTHF product although I do not have the gene mutation... but did have some imbalances as shown by NutrEval testing. Nattokinase reduces fibrinogen levels that contribute to thick, sticky blood that has the propensity to form clots. It does not work on the clotting mechanism, itself. If inflammation is the driver of thick, sticky blood, then the contributors to the inflammation need to be addressed in that individual. For that reason, the producers of Flite Tabs included the antiinflammatory, pycnogenol,by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Cathy - that's very encouraging. Perhaps you need more magnesium if you aren't at bowel tolerance yet. What about your potassium level and do you take taurine as well? Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Joey - Here are a several links to posts that I use when helping new afibbers with guidelines for adding nutritional supplements. You can ramp up the magnesium slowly...... adding in one or two at bedtime is usually fine but everyone is different and depending on the health of your intestinal villi where the absorption of magnesium into the blood stream occurs, you may tolerate magnesium welby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Joe - of course the magnesium is not enough as I noted initially, but the inclusion of the herbals with their unique properties was interesting. I was inquiring if anyone had experience using CardioRhythm. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Curious to know if anyone has tried CardioRhythm (Vitamin Research Products) for PACs/PVCs? From the ingredient list, it would appear that the herbals would have more effect than the small amount of magnesium….especially the Sophora flavescens said to help prolong the refractory period… which makes sense, as a shortened refractory can lead to Afib. Of course, the nice amount of Taurine helpby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lynn - After I just posted my reply to you, I received an email newsletter from Frank Shallenberger, MD, on the topic of taking Nattokinase... Since it's copy-righted, here's just a segment of the report... on the efficacy. Assuming the information is reliable, this makes taking it easier. It's great for dissolving clots and lowering blood pressure, which also means it can pby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lynn - In theory... the bottlers of the better brands of NK claim that the enzyme powder itself is protected from stomach acid. There is some 'history' regarding this debate and going from memory... I believe it was said that the 'imposter' brands of NK bottlers who did not sign up for distribution under the licensing agreements to buy and bottle the 'true' protectby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon - good points. As you mention, those supplement companies who have high standards for quality control and assay all incoming raw materials and outgoing finished product are the ones to buy... or those who produce professional grade products. The one thing everyone should remember about supplements is buy a reputable brand and that big box store vitamins while very inexpensive, may be usby Jackie - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Lynn - Your total NK intake is 7,000 units which is slightly over the typical dosing of 2,000 units three times a day for 24-hour coverage - a dose every 8 hours. If you test your fibrinogen again with your current dosing and it's still high then consider changing products. The 350 is somewhat over the ideal of less than 300...(with close to 250 being optimal...although some reportsby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Randy - Dr. Starr's book is an important contribution. Definitely consider that you may trend to hypothyroidism as the majority of the people in the US are iodine deficient and that goes hand in hand with sources that knocks out iodine... fluoride and bromide exposure from all sources. Joe - The diastolic (52) on your Bp does seem too low for comfortable functionality. It's true that for vagal afib, the BB metoprolol isn't always the best choice. You could consider asking to switch to Cardizem/diltiazem. Have you had the flu shot in prior years with no reactions? Your current reaction could be caused by either the body's immune response or more likely, a sensitivity reaction to the adjuvants used in that particular vaccine. There are a lot of reasons why flu shots can cause adverse effects. Consider using vitamin D regularly throughout the year and increased doses during the coldby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Joey - is your hypertension medication... a diuretic form... one that has 'zide' in the name? If so, that's a huge detriment to your electrolytes. You can ask to be switched to a potassium-sparing Rx for hypertension. Hi Randy - Following are my comments... but keep in mind that everyone has to experiment with dosing for their own unique situation... these are just guidelines, but worked well for me. What I neglected to include in The Strategy... Happy 10th Jim! Hard to believe 10 years has passed since we all were queuing up for up for our Natale ablations. I certainly wish you continued success. Best to you, Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Randy - Absolutely.. Calcium fluoride is very much a concern. The studies that looked at fluorosis in Asian populations noted their natural fluoride (calcium) was responsible for the crippling skeletal effects. The 4 mg Max Contaminat Level is an unfounded declaration of safety... levels much lower than that are found to be harmful... and as the focus of my reporting is/was.... it's tby Jackie - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Kitty - You can just assume you are low in intracellular magnesium as most afibbers are. Repletion is a slow, deliberate task. You can't just take a generous amount and then expect your levels will be optimal... it takes time and in some cases, people never really become replete on a "permanent" basis, but are called "refractory" to optimizing. Lon - in addition to your anticoag protocols and electrolyte repletions, I second Shannon's reminder that you do need to hydrate adequately... (pure water w/o added chemicals). The findings that hyperviscosity leads to strokes is directly rooted in thick, sticky blood ... caused by inflammation and lack of optimal hydration. Hi Randy - explain exhausing physical therapy. When you do work out... how long, at what level and what is the sequence...daily? or every other day? Louise - coconut oil is very healthy. If you do a search on cholesterol here in the past post archives... there have been many reports posted on why Cholestrol is not the Enemy... but oxidized cholesterol most certainly is. Ron - just remember that it's the oxidation of LDL cholesterol that causes problems. A good antioxidant supplement program along with plenty of foods high in antioxidants keeps that concern at a minimum. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tom - I provided the links to show there were studies on the anticlotting properties of nattokinase...esp. the prevention of deep vein thrombosis on long-haul flights. It's always smart to check other viscosity markers as well if one is concerned about stroke risk.
