Sally - stress depletes magnsium...big time. And, w/o enough magnesium inside your heart cells, potassium can't function as it should. The best form of supplementing with iron (if you need it) is the Ferrochel (r) Iron Chelatep (formulated by Albion Minerals and sold to variouts bottlers...it's a formulation called ferrous bisglycinate chelate.. It works well because if you don&by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ralph - no question... an irritated vagus whether from silent inflammation or nerve impingement can start the process. Consider if you are monitoring or at least mindful of your alkalinity status. If not drinking the Waller Water to help maintain tissue alkalinity, you may want to give that a try. Peggy - It does sound like a classic sign of hypoglycemia.... What foods did you eat in the morning or late morning that may have started the cascade? Starchy carbs or sugar? I don't recall if you drink cafeinated coffee but that can do it if you don't take in enough food as well. Sorry for your recurrence, but so very glad it's now reversed. Best to you, Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Peggy, yes and it's not just with Pradaxa. It should be considered a criminal offense to cover-up such adverse, dangerous effects when they are obviously well-known by drug company insiders yet leave doctors in the dark about the severity of consequences. The profits generated from the new drugs must be so lucrative that those without moral conscience think it's worth the risk. Iby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ron - as George states, no issue with pushing daily magnesium intake... unless there is kidney impairment or dysfunction. As for "nothing you can do about the mercury stored in your fat cells as a result of amalgam fillings"... not so... you can go through the chelation process that removes mercury stored in tissue. That's a lengthy and expensive project, but keep in mind tby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ron - Important to recognize that a fundamental, key issue when supplementing with potassium is that unless intracellular magnesium is optimal, then adding potassium can and does make arrhythmia worse. The focus should always be optimizing magnesium before aggressively working on potassium. Too many people think the shortcut is just adding potassium, but that's often counterproductive. Liz - during my 8 years of monitoring AF prior to ablation, annually, I had an Echocardiogram for the purpose of monitoring left atrium size and the other measurements provided such as ejection fraction, etc. as precautionary to make sure the size or EF didn't change adversely. The comments at the time were that if AF became more frequent or permanent, then the risks of an enlarged left atby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello Stephen..... Foley catheters are never fun. I hope by now you are enjoying a little relief from the woes you've described. Overall, in spite of those problems, how's your heart? Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Doug - definitely seek out and demand additional medical care for lowering your heart rate. Not related to ablation, I've had heart rates going on at 200 bpm and over for long sessions and I can appreciate your distress. It's nasty. You deserve better attention from your medical providers. I'm very sorry that you have this complication. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon – excellent points of consideration. It’s well-known but often not a serious consideration that among the reasons why some individuals fail to respond to magnesium supplementation ..as an example.. is because of the typical dietary intake of hidden trans-fats which clog up the cell receptors so magnesium and other nutrients are unable to have easy or free access across that outer celby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ron - One factor with failure to maintain optimal potassium levels consistently is too many acid-ash producing foods in the diet. Here’s where the magnesium bicarbonate water (Waller Water) comes in handy to help but overall but the core concept is eating from the alkaline-ash producing food menu consistently. This will become important even after ablation as potassium (facilitated by optimalby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
George - as indicated in the GI Connection to Afib report… Vagus nerve irritation caused by digestive irritation/inflammation is a major consideration and important to address early in the sleuthing process since calming down the Vagus is a big step toward a peaceful heart. Hi James - You know what you need to do about the weight loss. Only you can commit to doing that. You can also do a lot to control your hypertension through diet and making sure that you are optimized in magnesium and potassium and avoid packaged, processed foods that are devoid of nutrients but loaded with sodium which helps contribute to hypertension. Monty - the antiarrhythmic (flecanide) that I used prior to ablation (2003) was a dreadful drug for me... I was never sure that it actually helped forestall arrnhthmia but I was very sure it made me feel terrible. Ron - there is always the possibility that you have a food sensitivity to bananas.... one connection might be the latex factor. I know a medical person who became sensitized to latex from the glove use and as a result of her extensive testing, she learned among other things, she was also sensitive to bananas which are in the latex family. Thank you, Steven, for taking the time to tell your story and confirm that in addition to ablation procedures, we need to ensure that the body has adequate amounts of the essential core nutrients required for proper function. Hello Jim B - I certainly wish you the very best of outcomes from your very recent procedure. Please let us know how you are. James - as long as you are on an anticoagulant drug, then keep your MK7 doses low. I know with warfarin, interference is seen at 100 mcg... but I am not aware if the new anticoags have been evaluated for similar interference. Once you are off the Pradaxa, you certainly can increase the MK7 and begin atttacking the atherosclerotic plaque issue more aggressively. James – With your history, and once you are off the Pradaxa, I’d be taking a substantial dose of MK7 supplement daily so that you have a known, consistent daily intake number. The minimum intake recommendation is 45 micrograms (mcg) by the initial research studies and some are now recommending 100 – 150 mcg. Then, just let the food sources add to that amount or if with a vegan diet, just conby Jackie - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
