Tom- I didn't respond to your original post because I was too late viewing it. For years, I suffered with WCS... always nervous over what the doctor "would find"...and not even a heart doctor. When I finally found a holistic MD... and one who was actually educated at Harvard, he had the practice of letting the patient get settled in first and then take the vitals. Thank you, Thank you, Erling for helping guide us once again. I can't believe that Jerry didn't attribute credit to the bonafide author of that advice. If he had, certainly, many of us may have taken the whole concept much more seriously back then and enjoyed success much sooner. You know my passion for energy healing so I'm obviously very interested in becoming totally immerby Jackie - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Well, Maree!!! I just logged on to see your great news.... I'm beyond thrilled for your success and that you responded so quickly to the added dosing. I'm joining your celebration with my Woo Hoo as well. Just continue to add in another dose every 4 - 5 days... as long as you have no bowel tolerance issues. If and when that does occur, then back down a dose or two to stabilizeby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tom - vilify beans? It's the Paleo eating concept that excludes beans and all grains. As we've been reminded by the Insulin expert, Ron Rosedale, the body has zero requirements for intake of carbohydrates. For those who have blood glucose fluctuations, avoiding carbs (even from beans) is essential. I'm just pointing out the biochemistry that uses up magnesium and potassium durinby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Tom… It’s always good to compare notes on vitamin D levels. A cursory Google reveals a tremendous amount of controversy over appropriate dosing and safe levels of vitamin D adding to the confusion for many patients since often, their doctors aren’t really well-versed in the science of vitamin D supplementation. As stated in the LEF article, they are talking about Afib occurring at serum leby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gary - It's tempting to use a lot of fruit with juicing, but if you are an active afibber, go easy on the fruit and the high carb from the fruit sugar (fructose) as it requires using stored magnesium and potassium for insulin production. Small amounts of fruit added for "flavor" are fine. Use lemon, lime and ginger for flavor and low carb content. All the veggies are wonderfulby Jackie - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Thanks for posting this, Tom. Very important observations verified by Cardymeter. When you cut back on starchy carb consumption, the requirements for potassium and magnesium (via production of insulin) are reduced… which is obviously a good thing and especially so because reduced frequency of insulin surges is a very healthy practice for everyone, not just those watching potassium. FiveBox - I'm not a chemistry major but the purpose of the magnesium water is to ingest the bicarbonate ion which offers the alkalizing benefits... (discussed in the Alkalizing benefits post) which raises your pH and equates to increased voltage and, therfore, health. Lynda - have you had your adrenal function evaluated? If the adrenals are burned out, you'll continue to have anxiety and other symptoms because your body is not able to cope with stress. The salivary cortisol test "Adrenal Stress Profile" which includes DHEA testing by Genova Diagnostics is a good start. Then you'll know how to proceed with adrenal support through diet anby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Kelly - good point. Serum magnesium values are meaningless as they do not reflect what's inside the cells. You could have a lot of magnesium sitting in the serum, but if it can't access the interior of the cells, then a deficiency exists where it counts. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gary - thanks for your reply. Your K:Na ratio looks good and I'm glad your neurologist endorses the supplementing of potassium so you can manage the AF. You probably know this, but in holistic medical circles (assuming that acoustic neuroma has been ruled out), --Meniere’s is thought to be caused by a virus… --some find there is an association with Lyme disease as a co-infection andby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gary - consider an accurate assessment of your dietary intake of all sources of sodium (salt).. if you add salt or eat any packaged, processed, restaurant foods, you get an abundance of added sodium which can definitely knock out your potassium. Complicating all is the potassium-sparing diuretic, but if you add up how much sodium you potentially ingest during one day, you may find that you areby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
I agree, Tom. I've had subclinical hypothyroidism most of my life ... finally diagnosed after years of suffering with classic symptoms, then treated with Synthryoid that allowed me to meet the requisite numbers to qualify as euthyroid, but still had all the original symptoms.... on top of that, I developed an enlarged thyroid with goiteroid tissue and nodules after 10 years on that drug.by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Just as a matter of interest, when I was first experiencing AF, I was taking a calcium supplement and no magnesium. After learning that the ratio of Ca:Mg should be at least 1:1 -- and possibly even more heavily weighted toward magnesium rather than calcium, my AF diminished significantly....only to resurface a few years later as a chronic problem because I didn't optimize my intracellularby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Maree - thank you for sharing your details. I'm so very sorry for your loss. My heart just breaks for you and your personal tragedy. Not surprising that you've developed AF with that high stress burden....which depletes magnesium.... and is ongoing. I'd persist very slowly with increasing your magnesium dosing to reach the bowel tolerance or tissue compliance that is discussedby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Matt - See my reply to Maree a few threads before this one. I'd like to learn the same from you. If you haven't read The Strategy report, that's a good place to begin to learn which essential, core supplements help manage the AF symptoms. Then spend time reading at least the Introduction to Conference Room 72 since that is the lynch pin for success in reversing atrial fibby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Maree - This is brief; I'm occupied with good weather and many gardening chores. Besides the warfarin and sotolol, do you take any other medications or supplements besides the magnesium?
