Polly, Congratulations on eating so 'clean'...it's refreshing to see. Just keep in mind that there is still a chance that dietary potassium intake is not in the 4:1 ratio and if he continues to have blips of AF, then at the very minimum, check serum potassium and sodium levels. Most of us have learned we need to supplement with magnesium glycinate in order to allow for the otby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Mike - your post leaves me speechless. This is the first "emergency ablation I've read about." What a nightmare. I'm glad you survived the ordeal. My heart goes out to you. Now just try to find a tranquil, peaceful place in your mind and go there continually while your heart heals. Hopefully, the worst is over and those drugs are a thing of the past. Since many afibbers are also found to be hypothyroid and take various thyroid hormone replacements, Im posting this as a matter of interest and awareness. Debbie - in comparing bathroom stories with various friends whose husbands have a tendency for becoming dizzy during nocturnal bathroom visits, I've learned it's very common for them to sit, rather than stand. How macho is it to be knocked unconscious in the process? Knock out some teeth or end up with a concusion? Go figure.by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Polly, no canned food products? No packaged cereal? No bread? No commercially prepared food products... deli or packaged? If so, then you have avoided sodium. If not, then there is loads of sodium in any one of those mentioned. It will compete with and override potassium's function so keep that in mind. Avoid Digoxin and anyone who recommends it. Bad news. Good luck with continued sby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Maaks... great if that is working for you. If it becomes evident that it does not hold, then consider that the amount of potassium you are taking is very low and also that magnesium citrate does not stay in the body for any length of time.... as it is used for a laxative effect. Don't rock the boat now by changing anything.... just consider these comments as a backup plan. I wish you contby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Louise - thanks for that eloquent response. My intention for posting the Walter's story place was to point out the need to do plenty of research and choose the best possible EP who has a well-documented track record for doing thousands of safe and successful ablations. Ablations have been safely and successfully performed for many years; and in the hands of those highly skilled, the riskby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Nancy - since I was unable to tolerate warfarin or even aspirin, I researched the enzyme, nattokinase which reduces fibrin in the blood and therefore lowers blood viscosity without harmful effects. See Conference Room Sessions 39 and 40. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Polly - the Bp number you mentioned was 150/90.... that's hypertension.... if the level is normalized with medication, then he's a controlled hypertensive. Afibbers with hypertention and controlled hypertension still need to be concerned about the tendency to clot... Blood viscosity comes into play with extended periods of fibrillation. Polly I'm glad the EP is being cautious. Ive experienced the thalium stress test which is a very definitive diagnostic tool to rule out heart disease, damage or coronary artery blockage and according to the Cleveland Clinic (where mine was done), the major risk during the test is precipitating a heart attack, although not a large risk, they say. Mike - As long as the purity is readily identifyable... ie, molecularly distilled, pharmaceutical grade that's the key. But check the EPA measurement on the one you suggest. This is fairly low and you'd have to use many more doses to reach the minimum recommendation of 2 grams a day. Erling, if you use organic apple cider vinegar, you'll get even more health benefits. I'd recommend adding each to the salad right before you eat it rather than making a batch and storing it and thereby eliminate risk of oxidation. Nancy - this report on fibrosis covers some of the remodelling observations by researcher, David Van Wagoner, PhD.... and is worth reading for the overall background. Debbie - do a google on micturition syncope. It could be the sodium reduction if it was intense and sudden. In CR 72, it cautions that one should start cutting back very slowly so the body had the chance to adjust to lower sodium level. Jack - it may take many months for your electrolyte stores inside the heart cells to become optimized....so be patient and be mindful of your dietary intake of both sodium and potassium. If you aren't cutting down on the sodium, there will be interference with potassium function... and you must have adequte magnesium as a base. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Jennifer - Sorry about your afib. You've done remarkably well with your AF journey. For future reference, it would be important to dose with electrolytes prophylactically... before your restaurant meal and then again after.
