As an example, on the label of a Metagenics professional grade zinc product it reads: Zinc ( as zinc arginate and zinc glycinate) 20 mg Perhaps where Michael gets his supplements, they label in a different manner? Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Steve - you may have to boost your daily dose to reach the optimal higher level. I had to go to 10,000 a day to reach the target of 70 that my MD wanted and it took over a year to get there. Test values for Vitamin D <50 70 - optimal 70-100 treat heart disease and cancer >100 excess Some experts may disagree with the following healthy ranges, but they are taken from healthy people inby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Steve - if you haven't read the currect conference room topic on the interference of sodium with potassium's ability to regulate rhythm and voltage, please spend time there. I know that for me, if by chance I happen to either become lax with potassium intake both food and supplements and then eat out and am exposed to hidden sources of sodium, I am prone to AF breakthroughs... which sby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Steve - In one of the reports/posts some time ago, I reported the CoQ researcher Dr. William V. Judy says in all his years of treating with CoQ, he has never seen a problem with CoQ and coumadin. He comments that his mother has used it for years. It is apparently a disclaimer but Dr. Judy feels there is not sufficient evidence to support it. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lisa - thanks for posting this. I was just about to post a call for Angels for Louise for tomorrow. I join you in wishing Louise a safe and successful second ablation putting an end to her long hassle. Angels to you, Louise. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Drew - I'd try increasing dietary potassium and if you can't do that, then add small amounts of supplemental potassium... if you are nervous, try half a teaspoon of the powder or about 300 mg in tablets. Add some right when you are experiencing ectopy and eat a small snack along with the potassium. Your ectopy signals that you are 'trying' to go into AF. The extra potassiumby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Larry - so did we all...but the best you can do is resume once you are off the thinners post-ablation. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Michael - that is a very large dose of zinc. It can deplete or imbalance your copper levels and that could, in turn, interfere with your 'electricity.' I'd stop the zinc for a while and add some low-dose copper. (Copper is toxic in high doses so don't be tempted to over-compensate) Example, in the product for eye health, Ocuvite, the zinc is 40 mg and copper is 2 mg. Iby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ivan - No, I have not but you know we are all unique in response. Might it be something on the ingredient list? Maybe in the capsule? What brand are you using? Just curious. Typically, eveyone can benefit from CoQ as most people have a low supply that comes with aging. No matter.... if you are better without it, then it's obvious not to use it. Glad you are doing better. Hello Gary - It is good of you to post your well-written story. It does my heart good to read of your continuing progress, so thank you for that and congratulations to you on taking control and becoming empowered! We are all indebted to Hans for hosting this website. It was certainly a lifeline for learning and support for me in my darkest hours as well. Thanks George - Larry - I would suggest that you make a log of everything you eat on a daily basis and calculate the amount of sodium and potassium you consume. Sodium is usually labeled on anything packaged or processed. If you eat out a lot, that's difficult to assess but you can assume there is plenty of sodium added. You can use charts on line for approximate food content for boby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Jake - yes, NK does lower blood pressure. If you go to both Conference Room Sessions 39 and 40 and use the Edit/find on this page feature and type in blood pressure, you'll find all of the references (highlighted) to the blood-pressure lowering capability of nattokinase for those who take a blood-pressuring lowering medication and the precautions. Larry - I am a big fan of nattokinase - the enzyme. I've taken it for about 9 years. After my ablation 7 years ago, I went off warfarin after 6 weeks because of the low blood platelet issue and went right back on NK. At the time, I was concerned that it might affect the ablation scar tissue and asked my EP, Dr. Natale. He said it would have no affect on the scar tissue, so I resumed aby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jack - Great that have a holistic MD! What is "a little low" for the vitamin D? Correct - magnesium functions intracellularly so that testing is appropriate. Yes, there is a test for intracellular magnesium. It's Exatest. You can search in the forum before this one for a slew of posts on Exatest etc. Many of us have had it. Jake - I take 5,000 mg vitamin D3 twice a day and along with that, I take vitamin K2 in the form of Menaquinone 7 or MK7. You can read more here at this link about the health benefits of MK7 for bones and cardiovascular. Drew - Definitely high serum calcium levels can influence afib. You are smart to be pursuing the parathyroid issue to rule out a problem. It could also be that even your level of 50 for the 25 OHD is not high enough. My MD likes it to be around 70. When you take vitamin D, it's advisable to also take vitamin K2 in the Menaquinone 7 form (MK7) because the K2 directs calcium into the bonby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hi Carol - some people have reported similar symptoms. I have no explanation for you other than 1) open one of the capsules to see if smells fishy which would indicate rancidity.... obviously, discard. 2) it could be that your system doesn't get along with the material in the capsules. Jack - many of us also supplement dietary intake of potassium. I take at least 2 teaspoons of the potassium gluconate powder daily because my appetite is not that large. Justine - by chance, did they run a blood test to check electrolytes when you were in the ER? That would give you the very best clue as to where your potassium level was at that time. Jack - first, K and vitamin K are not the same. K is the chemical symbol for the potassium element. How long have you been using the magnesium and when did you start adding in that amount of potassium? If you add too much potassium too quickly, and magnesium has not yet optimized intracellularly, the potassium can make arrhythymia worse. Lynn - it would be impossible for the body to balance out what it doesn't have or in the case of sodium overload versus low potassium, to correct that imbalance without our intervention. That's why some people progress to hypertension and in some of us afibbers, we have a breakthrough if the imbalance is either severe enough or prolonged. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sorry Ivan - that's too bad..... if you have potassium, I'd start using that with food... 500 mg spaced out - a couple doses at least and try to eat balanced, small snacks... protein, fat and some carb. Hi John - everyone responds differently to magnesium supplements.... it typically takes 2 - 3 months to see some gradual improvement.
