Nick - sometimes it's interesting to know who funded the study. Maybe the coffee association?..... since it's well established in the medical literature that caffeine is a stimulant and can be a trigger for AF. Not every afibber is bothered by caffeine. Some people may be botherd by the high amount of pesticides found in non-organic coffee. It is known to be among the highest foodby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hi again Montos - I surely emphathize with your situation. As for the ER trip and cardioversion etc.... After I had my first trip to the ER and converted on my own while they were standing around trying 'this and that'... (this was a long time ago).... I decided that I wouldn't go that route again unless I absolutely had to. My life then compared to yours now is far different bby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Alan - if you are at all concerned about the chemicals in the typical nose spray, you might consider using the all natural nasal spray by NutriBiotic that contains grapefruit seed extract (GSE) which is highly antimicrobial and very effective. I've used it for years. One time years ago, I thought I was getting a sinus infection, and I used that and added a teaspoon of colloidal silver to tby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carol - yes - maintain your GI health with a really good probiotic... for life. Hans mentioned one he likes.. very potent. VSL#3. It may take quite some time to 'recondition' your GI tract so the friendly flora is in abundance and that keeps out the harmful bacteria and bugs that cause diarrhea. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Barry - there is nothing to say that what you do for yourself with your preferred source of vitamin C is not good for you or that it doesn't work well. I was offering the liposomal version information because it's known that the body can't absorb large doses and much of what's taken in is wasted. The special delivery system offers another path (and more convenient than IVby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Christy - if you can listen to some of the Levy presentations, it may become clear to you how the liposomal delivery differs for just oral vitamin C. When I first heard him, it was during the first wave of the flu season with all the hype about mass vaccines for flu. He and the other physicians supporting his findings (in his book)... were saying that if you came down with the flu, then it woulby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Montos - You really had a good run going so that's very positive, but I can understand your disappointment. However, you really have to understand what probably drove your failure...and that's the alcohol that undoubtedly lowered your magnesium and potassium which may have already been low or borderline low....and the fact that alcohol dehydrates. After my ablation which was done by Dr. Natale when he was at the Cleveland Clinic, I felt absolutly fine that evening and the next day when I arrived home and I don't think you'll need to have someone with you after discharge. You should be fine too if you stay in a nearby hotel for a few days just to be sure all is well before boarding. But, that said, we have had people reportiby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Good reminder, Liz. The actual amount of iodine required to maintain a healthy thyroid is a very small amount.. (150 micrograms) by RDA standards which are typically too low but they err on the side of being very conservative. But- for people who don't get any, then it becomes critical. Iodine is probably not in many soil grown foods as it's typically not a soil component these dby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Barry thanks for the reminder. Last year, I listened to an impressive and enlightening teleconference with Dr. Thomas Levy on his approach to using Liposomal Vitamin C especially useful when one doesnt have access to IV vitamin C or as a daily preventive measure. The liposomal form allows for large doses and does not have the same problem that typical oral vitamin C does ie, the bowel fby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Anne h please read the Conference room sessions 39 and 40 so you understand what nattokinase is and how it works to help prevent clot formation. The Jarrow Brand at Hans iHerb website would be a good choice. You need 2000 FU every 8 hours or 3 doses a day for a total of 6000 if you are an active afibber. An occasional afibber would be afib a few times a year. The supplements you take willby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carol - you are probably low in potassium. Two 99 mg is hardly enough if you are significantly low. It's been mentioned a number of times that when you can feel your heart beating when you lie down, it's a sign of low potassium. If you had diarrhea with your GI bug, that's undoubtedly the culprit....the loss of electrolytes. If you tolerate the LS V8 - that might be an option.by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
The one thing you don't want to do is get on a plane too soon after your ablation. If you have problems, there is little recourse once you are airborne so stay several extra days long to be sure you are 'good to go'... that's what I'd do under the circumstances. I wish you well. Dr. Natale is the best! Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just as you chose carefully the EP to do your ablation procedures, be sure you do your homework as to who will do your corrective procedure for this fistula. Determine what complications may arise and what you need to know about it post-procedure, long term. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ben - pure spring water is always preferable to commercially-treated water and this would include bottled water stored in plastic containers that leach out BPA. Dilemma, obviously. Water that contains chlorine and is fluoridated is standard from municipal sources so many people are unable to avoid taking in the extra chemicals plus all the residues that exist in recycled municipal water includby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dick - your two-part question... Homeostasis maintains the body as long as the basic required elements to sustain life are availble.... ie, appropriate food providing the required nutrients, pure water and air (plus elimination which is also detoxification). When one or more is unavailable or not functioning, the body can only attempt to maintain homeostasis for so long, then we die. Obviouslyby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Mr. Bill - you can read about problems with absorption and tolerance with the various magnesium products here: You may find a tip or a combo of mangesium products that will enable you to optimize your intracellular levels to tissue saturation which is where you need to be to start to get relief from AF. Jerry - aspirin was and is recommended for those with no other underlying risk factors and who are true Lone afibbers. It does an adequate ****of preventing clot formation providing that other markers are all in order such as High Sensitive C-reactive protein, ferritin, fibrinogen, Hemoglobin A-1C but aspirin does have it's downside as does the warfarin. Janet - Dr. Natale in the US has moved away from the PVI type ablations because of the risk of PV stenosis... he developed the burning technique farther away from the veins in the antrum area which is just as effective but less risk of the stenosis. He recommended consulting with EP Wyn Davies, St. Mary's in London. You might want to compare Dr. Davies techniques with the others. I don&by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

If I have an AF breakthrough, I definitely take even more potassium because every time I've had a breakthrough...and if I go right away for testing, the potassium level is always low.
