Liz - much of the heart health in vegetarianism comes from reducing saturated fat intake. The Paleo diet eliminates grains and dairy and does not emphasize that it is a 'high' protein or fat diet although some people interpret it as that. Fundamentally, the body needs proteins for proper function (amino acids). If a person can get enough being vegetarian, then fine. Many can'tby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
This goes along with the important posts by Erling on Methylation. <> High homocysteine levels contribute to atherosclerosis, heart conditions, risk of stroke and we know that B vitamins are critical to the methylation process which must be functioning optimally to for heart health and health in general. Ivan - what about CoQ10? Are you using that along with d-ribose and carnitine? I'd suggest you try them all. And I'd also suggest that you take water out with you that has some potassium and maybe some ribose as well.. Working outdoors in heat with afib can be a challenge... and sweating will definitely deplete electrolytes. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Josiah.... as you know, the coumadin is responsible for bone loss. You definitely can use both NK and the MK7. I do and have done so for years. You can find good support, online, for the use of MK7 along with magnesium and calcium to help rebuild bone density. (check NattoPharma MenaQ7) You just have to be very careful as an afibber with too much calcium as a supplement. Be sure that yoby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Gordon well, yes and no. I commented to Lisa initially that this is complicated. Many of the calming herbals actually function to support the HPA Axis system and help prevent or reverse dysfunction. Its well known that chronic stress is damaging. Its not just enough to take a drug to calm down and mask the symptoms of other dysfunctions that are going on behind the scenes. Lisa the biochemistry of this is somewhat complicated. Elevated catecholamines can affect serum blood glucose and insulin levels and while they may not test high at one point in time, fluctuations can have adverse effects and produce wanted symptoms. Specific testing for fasting glucose and especially insulin is critical and the best way to do that is with blood draw, eat a meal and then post-by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dick - thanks for that link and your comments. When I interviewed for my ablation date with Dr. Natale in 2003, he commented then that while success was hoped for with a single ablation, it was very common to need a second ablation. It's obviously still realistic to recognize that not every ablation will be successful at the first try since there are so many variables, not the least ofby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

James - quite often, panic attacks are the result of hypoglycemia. This is really not 'off topic' because many afib events are triggered by hypoglycemia and that set of reactions is the same. Most always diet related. Additionally, those who experience panic attacks are found to be low in serotonin.
