That may work for some people but not all. I know that my post-ablation AF breakthroughs were not related to any sugar consumption, but rather low electrolytes. Sugar does deplete magnesium so that part of it is a definite connection but not the total answer. Just makes sense to eliminate sugar anyway because it doesn't do anyone any good - afibbers or otherwise. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carol - regarding Hashimotos - have you gone 100% gluten free yet? That's a link to Hashimotos and reports say it resolves with a gluten free diet...or the antibodies become closer to 'normal' range. Montos - read labels very carefully when it comes to salt substitutes... they are almost always potassium chloride and that's the very worst for contributing to gastritis etc. Avocado is high in potassium and is a nice addition to salads. Gregg - I use both and have for many years now. The Omega 3's from fish oil do help keep platelets slippery plus more. The nattokinase, as Peggy mentions is an enzyme that lowers fibrinogen and thus the clotting tendency by lowering blood viscosity without the downside of coumadin. Nick - I like that! In dentistry, the saying goes: The mouth is the window to the body but after living with AF, I've come to totally agree with your statement and think the dentistry observation pales by comparison. AF makes us all health-conscious and very selectively aware about what the heart either will love or to which will produce a negative response. Pretty neat watchdog. Jby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Tom - Dr. Abraham and cohort iodine proponents have been making this argument for quite some time that iodine is a cureall. I agree that most likely, just like with other essential nutrients that are now missing in most diets, iodine is another important element, but I also think this has to be individualized and not recommended as a one-size-fits all approach - especially in those mega dosesby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Tom - the 'epidemic' is really bad food choices, processed food containing chemical additives including MSG and those that act like MSG, sugar, sodium etc. and an overall food supply that is virtually void of nutrients unless one eats mainly whole, plain, mostly raw food. Afib seemingly is talked about much more as an epidemic because it's so very obvious and highly symptomatic,by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Gay - Do a Google search on Polymyalgia rheumatica and Low Dose Naltrexone... this compares to a 'homeopathic dose' of a stronger version of the drug. Liz - I'd be suspect too of the fish oil caps. Typically when one has increased heart rate/pulse rate 20-30 minutes after eating, it can be related to a food sensitivity. Dan - I'd try focusing on the electrolytes, magnesium and potassium. You undoubtedly need much more than 100 mg a day. Steve - Just try to be calm if you do go into afib. Remember that you have a very good "plan B" right there in your pocket.
