Mark - a minimum and very conservative dose for magnesium would be 400 mg a day. I usually like to see people taking 600 a day if they tolerate it.... start low and ramp up slowly. As for potassium.... as you recall from all the posts on Fitday and other resources.... we need around 5 grams of potassium daily... hopefully it's mostly from food but if not, then supplementing with 2 grams aby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
dc - toe, foot and leg cramping at night are typical of magnesium deficiency and calcium dominance. I hope you take the Albion chelated magnesium glycinate form because that doesn't need stomach acid for absorption. If not, then the Nexium you take interferes with mineral absorption. Your withdrawl is typical with PPI withdrawal called rebound effect. It's very difficult to stopby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Bill - In case you are not aware, Kelp is high in free glutamate content. Fran, our former poster who cured herself after 20 years of afib, always cautioned us not to use kelp.... she said it put her into immediate arrhythmia, but she was able to nibble on fresh seaweed for the iodine content without incident. Proceed with caution with Kelp if you are still bothered by afib. I'd also cauby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Mark - since it's well acknowledged that so many people are magnesium deficient, it certainly seems like a good idea to take both the magnesium and potassium - as you say, just as replacement therapy along with eating regular, healthy meals....and good luck with that one. Barb - I agree about Dr. Weil's credentials.... but he and his marketing staff should be aware by now that unless there are studies to prove a health claim... it can't be done when advertising a natural product. Bill - I am glad you tested negative for the antibodies. Since the Hashimotos diagnosis is from those levels, I am puzzled by the comment that an u/s might indicate Hashimotos.... unless it means there is some thyroid tissue enlargement which only indicates your thyroid is trying to produce more thyroid hormone. The enlargement, of course, doesn't work and you do end up needing replacemenby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Mike - no I don't think so... a short course of a couple months or 6 weeks could be very useful to get rid of H. pylori if it's lurking but there are better products to use for bowel health and comfort. Consider that the yogurt while it may contain some probiotics, typically, much is not 'live' or active and in sufficient quantity to really ramp up the bowel flora populatioby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Charles - in my case it was two things. Beta blockers cause insulin resistance. And while I wasn't insulin resistance prior to using the BB Toprol XL, I did become insulin resistant in about 2 years' time. That caused me to have hypoglycemic events because of the fluctuations in glucose handling and a tendency to produce too much insulin which resulted increased adrenaline productionby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Debbie - not that's it's the same scenario, but after my ablation.... I went for a whole 103 days without any afib or other PACs etc. Then, out of the blue, I had afib that didn't convert in 24 hours; I was scheduled immediately for cardioversion which took place at hour 39 and it was successful. I then went on to have absolutely no afib until the 4th year post ablation. Mike&by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
