I'm not really recommending this but responded to Laura's question about using the two together. I think nattokinase alone taken daily in the recommended amounts - 4,000 FUs in divided doses to cover 24 hours if you have only occasional afib and 6,000 FUs in divided doses over 24 hours if you are a frequent/active afibber should be adequate. I'd also recommend knowing fibrinby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi David! the physical condition of the hiatal hernia trumps the contraindication of PPI use simply because its dangerous to let undigested food and stomach acid continually seep into the esophagus where it burns tissue and promotes ulcerated tissue and cancerous lesions. Thats a no brainer. However, its a double-edged sword because while use of the PPIs prevents the reflux, you still haveby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Laura - the information I have on combining the two is that you may get overthinning from the aspirin and the first sign would be nosebleeds. A full dose of aspirin taken daily can be quite a bit if you get AF infrequently. I'd rather see you on nattokinase full time with a smaller dose of aspirin if you think you need that as well. The NK doesn't have the side effects that aspirinby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Doug - when I was reviewing my notes for the Importance of Stomach acid post, it was mentioned quite frequently that GERD and heartburn often manifested with sharp pain symptoms. You might consider reading the Conference Room session called "No More Heartburn" and also the latest post to see if anything mentioned rings a bell with you and symptoms surrounding the afib event that causesby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
John - In medical terminology, the prefix 'a' means without so a- rrhythmia loosely interprets to 'without' rhythm. Atrial fibrillation refers to a type of abnormal rhythm or dysrhythmia. Here on this site, we are mostly concerned with "Lone" atrial fibrillation which means the arrhythmia is not driven by an underlying medical conditions such as valve involvemenby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gregg - sensible Paleo eating will give you adequate protein so that it is sustaining but don't construe that healthy eating is all protein and nothing else. Regardless of what some think, it is not. You need abundant non-starchy vegetables (for fiber) at every meal and a minor amount of fruit. Too much fruit sugar will cause a rebound effect and you'll be hungry and blood-sugar deby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Bill - read Conference Room 54 which explains a possible reason why afibbers have so much success with Paleo type eating. The elimination of grains takes out the reactions from gluten/gliaden which are highly likely contributory to afib events. It will help inspire you to not feel penalized by giving up grains. Be aware that while oats typically do not contain gluten, most oats are contaminateby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Some of my notes on niacin: Patients with a history of coronary insufficiency and those on vasodilating drugs should only use niacin cautiously under the guidance of a medical professional due to the potential for a hypotensive event. Use of Niacin in those with known liver disease should probably be avoided. If high doses (2 gms or more daily) are used, liver enzymes should be monitorby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
It's worth reading the articles and watching the video clips on this neurotoxin and the many ways it is hidden in various foods. Note Dr. Blaylock is in one clip.by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Susan - you are smart to consider that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it should contain ample protein. After a fast of at least 8 hours and often more, the body is about out of important nutrients and available fuel. Skipping breakfast is the fast track to disaster regardless of the diet or the health status. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Liz - it is good to know. This option has been around for a very long time. I had several patients opt for the pig valve. Lots of jokes about what type of a pig it was etc. The patients chose them for the reason of not needing coumadin for life and because they didn't want to listen to the mechanical valve working when lying down and trying to sleep. Susan - I'm not a true comparison since I've had ablation, but I use a high-quality resveratrol with no problems. See this previous post: <; Quercetain is recommended to help with environmental toxins and I also use that seasonally and have even before ablation with no adverse effects. I think resveratrol has high potential for a lot of reasons and the main one is there is no wayby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ben - In her seminars, my doctor says the results are disappointing with niacin/cholesterol lowering and also with niacin there is the liver enzyme issue (frequent testing) unless you take the Inositol hexanicotinate form. Remember, it isn't the cholestrol per se that is the problem. It's silent inflammation and the size of the LDL particles that are of concern. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
William - many years ago - possibly around '94, this was a popular trend at health fair/conventions. I have had it done twice. It looked very convincing but as with many new ideas, at the time it was thoroughly bashed as scam. I still don't believe it was a scam... probably just too inexpensive and not sophisticated enough. Sheila - it's pretty amazing that a half a teaspoon of the powder would help convert you from afib. The dose to deliver 615 mg. magnesium of the Natural Calm is 3 teaspoons. Obviously, every individual varies on their stores of intracellular magnesium so starting with a low dose is smart if you already take optimal doses of the glycinate form daily. Peggy - you must be having some absorption issues and you are 'dumping' the Mag glycinate. It's good that you can tolerate that much of the liquid citrate so you can benefit a bit from the magnesium content. The other solutionfor you will be topical or trans-dermal. Ill just reiterate what Ive previously posted on my experience using flecainide for about 4 years. I was up to 150 mg twice a day and my afib worsened each year with both frequency and duration until I had arrhythmia every other day or every day and often only 4 hours between bouts some lasted as long as 27 hours. Sue - a typical dose for an active afibber is 2,000 FUs every 8 hours for a total of 6,000 in 24 hours for continual protection. There is no guarantee that your blood pressure goes down with NK but many people have found that to be true as a side benefit. It decreases blood viscosity (thickness) and allows for more freely flowing, thinner blood which places less pressure on the arteries. Vby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
