Mike s - Hemochromatosis is a genetic issue. One simplistic remedy that doctors do here is just have you donate blood on a regular basis. If, for some reason, they can't use your blood, you can ask for it to be discarded but drawn anyway. It may not work that way where you are. We posted last year (4/08) on the topic of bisphosphonates (Fosamax and Reclast) when the connection to arrhythmia surfaced. The discussion also included the fact that these drugs create a false impression of increasing bone density and strength most of it being on the surface of the bone rather shoring up the inside by strengthening the interior structure. Thank you, William for that post. I totally agree. Neurotoxins (excitotoxins) affect the whole body. I'm not a fellow neurosurgeon so I have to respect what the other experts including retired neurosurgeon, Russell L. Blaylock, MD, say about the detrimental affect to all of us and not just afibbers. William Im curious about your modification of the Paleo diet to include coffee. Early man (unless living in the regions favorable to growing coffee) didnt have access to the beans and before fire, didnt roast them to make a beverage. FWIW - In some biochemistries, MSG or like substances may be contributory for an AF event. Much depends on the state of previous damage in that particular body. If a person has continually eaten foods that have high MSG content (like a bag of Doritos daily), they may be much more sensitive and have much more neuronal damage going on than the individual who is only exposed occasionally.
