Nick, fish oil does help some people with arhythmias and others have found it makes it worse. It's probably not necessary to use a prescription product, though, unless your insurance covers it completely.. There are many very good brands on the market. Hi Lew - My first response is that you have nothing to lose by trying taurine to see what it does for you, especially during the night. Taurine is an inhibitory amino acid meaning if you are getting some elevated cortisol and adrenaline bursts during the night, it should help to block some of that action. If you are magnesium or potassium deficient, I'd also think you may have some of theby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Good list...goes back to the distinction between AF and LAF.... ....but also remember that many conditions listed are also symptoms of imbalances so the actual cause of AF may come from a defect in a nutritional function.... at the top of the list would be a magnesium deficiency. Just to add fuel to this topic, here's yet another consideration for the argument of organic vs. conventional on another level.... Sue you take it separately. Magnesium glycinate is the preferred form and calcium citrate is the most absorbable. Start with the magnesium first and build up to doses that are at least 600 mg. daily in divided doses and preferably 800 or more if you tolerate that. Then add in your calcium very slowly.... obviously back off if it triggers arrhythmia. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes, Jim... the citrate form is the best for alkalizing and is common knowledge. Potassium bicarbonate is also highly alkalizing. I do not know if there have been studies comparing the various forms and efficacy but if one is attempting to prevent either kidney stones or osteoporosis, the citrate form would be the preferred choice. I keep alkaline as well with potassium gluconate. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Sue - there is probably some miscommunication here.... you don't have to add MSG to a capsule... it just occurs as part of the process when a capsule is made from gelatin. Thanks George for this information. The osteoporosis connection comes from the alkalizing effect (or buffering) of the citrate version....but potassium is alkalizing anyway. The idea is to reduce acidity because in order to neutralize acidity to be safe for the kidneys, it does so by pulling out stored calcium from bones. Magnesium also buffers.
