Isabelle - Long term, there are a number of reasons why Prevacid and others like it that suppress stomach acid production doesn't address the cause of the problem in the first place. For a temporary fix, it's commonly used. And often if a person has an ulcer, it's recommended to promote healing....but there are also natural alternatives with no downside. Robocop - I agree about being plagued by afib at an early age. Consider it a warning early on that something is amiss. Often posters here have been able to clear up most if not all of the afib events through diet changes and adding critical electrolytes. The heart needs at least adequate magnesium and potassium to function without missing beats. It needs optimal electrolytes to keep ongoingby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

To George's excellent response, I'd like to add to this: "And do I need to avoid dairy if I don't seem to have a problem with it?" There really is no way of truly knowing if dairy is a problem for you until all your digestive issues are absent. If you have none, but have any other chronic conditions, then dairy would be suspect as it one of the most allergenic right up there with gluten/gliadeby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Heather - your food intolerances indicate intestinal disturbances... please begin reading the segmental posts I've begun titled No More Heartburn as they cover what happens to the body when food sensitivities and intolerances occur. Carol - I'll be interested in the response from Coka Cola. It's my understanding that they never reveal the 'secret' ingredients. If they do, we will all be enlightened - assuming they offer the truth. Typically the thing about flavor enhancers is they are added to make us 'crave' them and keep on buying. That's why MSG and cousins are in so many junk foods.by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Probably the most significant change you can make is looking toward your food intake of packaged/processed foods that contain many chemicals in the form of preservatives and taste enhancers or artificial sweeteners like in diet colas etc. Refer to Conference Room #54 and become familiar with the Paleo style of eating - whole foods - nothing packaged, processed, artificial or otherwise damagby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

I've used nattokinase (the enzyme) not natto (the food) for about five years daily... use the 6,000 FU in divided doses. Do not have any negative effects. Carol - I only mentioned it because I recalled your phrenic nerve comment in the post ablation report you offered. Knowing the phrenic/diaphragm relationship, I wondered in the post if the sensations you feel might be related to that. Carol - you mentioned that with your last ablation, Dr. Natale noted some proximity to the phrenic nerve during the procedure.... These are just a few hits on google on this topic... the phrenic innervating the diaphragm. In time, it may dissapate.
