Barb - you'll find a great number of doctors on the internet recommend supplements for afib but don't really understand the bioavailability limitations for the various forms of minerals - ie magnesium oxide or why calcium may not be appropriate for some afibbers. I think one just has to read for the overall idea and then refine to the next level as we have done here over the years. Drby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Wil - I know what you say is true about TX allergies having been there twice since my son moved near Austin. He was warned about the high prevalence of allergies and on the plane coming home, I sat next to an Austin native who also confirmed the cedar trees put many people in huge discomfort with allergies. As for driving erraticly.... I think that comes with Texas. I'd nearly go inby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
That's a good post, Dick. To Paul: I always say life is about choices. Its always interesting to see an afibber or an ablatee posting about exertional (extreme) exercise. And often, it also seems as if the afibber/poster has some doubt as to the wiseness of it but wants it validated by others who have no real knowledge of the posters true medical history or current status other than whaby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks George. I think the guidelines for this or any guidelines are just that.. a guide to when doctors should should begin to assess patients according to the strictest of protocols that will help keep them out of trouble...and also keep the doctors out of trouble on a medico/legal liability issue. the latter is probably the driving force behind the lowering of the age limitation. Hi Paul - sorry your message didn't get response. You can probably benefit significantly by going to the Conference Room and reading Session #61 to see what others have done to help reduce or eliminate afib events. Vitamin C is an antioxidant and can be helpful to everyone. As with any supplement, start with low doses - like 500 mg. for vitamin C and ramp up slowly - every 4 - 5 days or sby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

William in this person's case, it is not the coffee that is the issue, its the caffeine content which in some individuals turn to the harmful chemical theophylline that bother some people and which causes the allergy plus all thesymptoms so it could be something else other than coffee that contains caffeine. Robin - I think Belaruth is fantastic. If you listen enough, you can just go through it anytime without the tape. Good to do anytime; now especially. Believe it or not.... my holistic chiropractor says to tap very hard in the area of the heart when afib starts as the EFT (type) connections will respond and reset to NSR. Unfortunately, I've forgotten to experiment with that concept durinby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Thank you, Hans, for your good wishes. Because of your dedication to publishing timely and accurate information on LAF, we have all benefited immensely over the years. Even though you are no longer plagued by AF, your commitment continues. We all are so very grateful to you for providing this source to exchange ideas as information. Kate - The essential trio, as I call it - is magnesium glycinate, potassium (citrate or gluconate) and taurine. Add to that some CoQ10, ribose and pharmaceutical grade Omega 3 fish oil, and you have the key elements in what many people use as heart support for afib. It can help greatly and it may not help at all as we are all different, biochemically. Start with low doses and don't intrby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jeff - interesting - probably you aren't allergic in the true sense of the word, but highly sensitive. I hate that when you get the wrong brew. I've had that happen as well. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Robin - I also used the EFT but it didn't help the afib...however, it may provide an calming outlet for you when you become anxious. Do you do any other form of TaiChi, yoga, meditation, etc? It may be something you should consider as they can be very centering and calming. Start with the EFT as it is free and then try to incorporate something else as well. Louise - I do not understand what you mean by 'form' - there is only one nattokinase. If you are an active afibber then you need 6000 FU in divided doses so that's 2,000 each dose.... order the capsules that meets your requirements. Last time I ordered they didn't have the higher dose and I had to settled for the 50 mg. and use more, but that's no big deal. If youby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Kate - I'm very sorry about afib ruining your plans..... we've all been there and it's no fun. Follow the instructions but take whatever you need to take to reach 5 grams a dose and take that twice a day. (some brands are labeled as one scoop = 2.5 grams so you'll need to read your label to know exactly) You could try taking a dose at the onset of afib as well. The totalby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
William - as I recall reading, it is the form of calcium in dairy that is less absorbable or bioavailable vs. that from plant sources. So I'm not thinking. Thanks Hans - I'll mark this for future reference. Mainstream medicine still hasn't caught up with vitamin D, the deficiencies and the correct dosing, but functional medicine is running in high gear with it and all the benefits from using the higher doses as preventive measures. Patients should be routinely screened for vitamin D deficiency and that still isn't done. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

George - There is no question that your allergies are a huge part of your health issues, as you know. This sounds weird, but there are doctors who can desensitize you to common allergens. There is a well known D.O. here who is highly successful. There are environmental allergens and the systemic allergens. Robin - I can relate to your sense of panic when the afib event begins. It certainly is like something we never experience other than when in afib. My thought on the topic of panic is this: If you understand what is happening and you have a plan in advance on what to do when it starts, then that is one of the first and very important steps in controlling the panic so it doesn't escallateby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Robin - I think you can really decide this for yourself - holidays or not . drink. You'll have to experiment. If alcohol gives you afib, then you make the choice which you'd prefer to have. Some people report they are not bothered at all by alcohol; others can't even take a sniff without going into afib. An interesting book review on the topic of caffeine allergy was published almost a year ago in Jan 07 Townsend Letter. George said: My own summary of the tests is that they are good, as far as they go, but are not the "end all" as far as knowing your allergies & sensitivities.
