Did anyone see any recent news within the last few weeks, reporting that the ablation procedure is found to last only 6 years? A friend said she saw it on TV - didn't have much of the details - but seemed to recall that it was reported that ablations were found to only last about six years. I don't watch much TV - news especially - but it hasn't come across on any of my medicaby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dear Health Freedom Advocate: This morning (Thursday, May 3) Senator Durbins amendment to S. 1082 Enhancing Drug Safety and Innovation Act of 2007, S. Amdt 1022 was offered and passed by 94 of the 100 members of the U.S. Senate with six (6) who failed to vote. AAHFs initial concern with this amendment was that it was going to be his comprehensive legislation, S 654, which consolidates allby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Larry - A good place to begin your AF education is with Hans first book. It will answer many of your questions and serve as a good foundation. Sounds to me as if you have experienced a hypoglycemic event by going so long without food intake. That's not good on several levels, but obviously, you don't want to be inviting afib to visit. David - the newer technology and advancements in ablation techniques are making it easier for less experienced EPs to do ablations. That said, I know of one case where stereotaxis was unsuccessful even on a second ablation. I'm not sure what that says... operator skill/knowledge or a flaw in the technology. As we've noted over the years, ablation techniques are rapidly evolving butby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Paula - you certainly can try it to see what your body's response is. Some find red wine is more of a trigger than white. Some afibbers find that the sulfites in the wine are triggers; and there is also the fact that wine, just by the nature of growing grapes, contains loads of pesticides and fungicides, unless you buy organic wine which can also be triggers in some people. Susan - you simply would not believe the place these days. I imagine after it's all done it will be simply grand, but I'm with you...the old EP lab suited my needs just fine but I'm sure the staff will enjoy a brand new facility with even more state of the art technology. Quite a place. Hope I don't have any need for it ever again, but nice to know it's there if I do.by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

I'm not so sure that the UCSF has as good a track record as Marin - at least with those reporting in here. Dr. Natale has trained both the staff EPs there. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

That's correct, Susan, ablations will be done in the EP labs. The CCF is very wealthy with grants and endowments; they also are a non-profit organization (which irks the tax payers since no corporate funds go into the community)..... people come from all over the world to benefit from the expertise offered and now the CCF is expanding to overseas operations.by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

It's actually the whole 'heart' business that includes ablation. The construction site is quite a thing to behold... to say nothing of the inconvenience of getting around with all the detours etc. The CCF is already a 'city within a city' and these new additions are mind boggling for those of us who knew it as a couple of hospital buildings years back.
