Friends, I'm happy to report that Dr. Andrea Natale has established a relationship with Scripps Clinic, La Jolla (San Diego), CA, where he seems to be visiting two days a month. Contact information is as follows: Andrea Natale, M.D. Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines 10666 N Torrey Pines Rd SW206 La Jolla, CA 92037 858-554-5049 Dory, Admin. Tom, I was taking 240 mg. of Diltiazem prior to my ablation and felt fine on it. No side effects that I could notice. This was after taking several other medications (not including Verapamil) and feeling lousy. I'd give it a try. And I'll second or third the idea of upping the magnesium.by ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Doug, I recently had an ablation done by Dr. Natale in SFO. He prescribed no such medication, either before or after. Best wishes,by ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Friends, The above is what Dr. Natale's office prescribed for me when, immediately following my ablation in September, I had a lot of edema and was also taking a diuretic. They are now sitting in a drawer, since I got rid of the edema in a few days. Anyhow, I was wondering, since they contain about 1500 mg of time-release potassium, would they be a good K source for afibbers, asumming one coby ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Certainly, he is widely regarded as one of the best, if not the best, in the USA. Perhaps others on this list will know if stats on success ablating persistent afib are kept anywhere. Happy New Year to all!by ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Friends, Just wanting to report that, having had my first ablation for persistent AFib with Dr. Natale in SFO on 9/18, I've just completed my 7-day Holter monitor checkup. Dr. Natale asks for this at 3 mo. and 6 mo. Dr. Natale's office called me yesterday and gave me the report: 100% NSR during the 7 days. I am experiencing some PACs. Dr. Natale's nurse said they are not conceby ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Friends, I have found that radically reducing the amount of simple carbs and near complete elimination of simple sugars from my diet--as recommended in this forum and elsewhere--has, among other things, helped me to lose about 30 pounds in the past 6 months. So far so good. I find my self turning to nuts (walnuts, almonds, pecans, hazelnuts, macadamias) for snacking, instead of granola bars, eby ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Curt, I'd second the above recommendations for Dr. Natale or one of his associates. Hongo took over my care after my Natale ablation (it was a Friday and Natale left town). I was very impressed by him. He practices in both SFO and Marin county. Richard H. Trent, Ooops! Right, 500 mgs. Even that is quite a bit. I thought there was a rule that supplements could only contain a max. of 99 or 100 mgs per dose. Cheers! Post Edited (11-28-09 11:36)by ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks to all for their kind responses to my queries. I'm going out today to buy selzter and MOM. I appreciate very much the several reassurances about the recipe from Jackie, Erling, and George. Jackie, Regarding the Waller water instructions, I'll give it a shot. It's just that I was put off by the fact that I can't buy carbonated water in liter bottles and I don't have measuring containers calibrated in liters. So I guess a related question would be: How exact do these measurements need to be? Trent, I'm curious. May I ask: Wherefrom and in what form do yby ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Rodric, I had my first ablation in September with Dr. Natale in San Francisco. He insists on 6 months of warfarin. My impression was that this was his standard follow up policy, along with a phone in event monitor for 3 months, a 7 day Holter monitor at 3 and 6 months, and a checkup at 6 months. I imagine, however, that he and any other sensible physician would take special circumstances suchby ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Friends, I'm gathering from reading this forum, particularly the discussion of Waller Water, that acidosis is an issue for afibbers, and of course for many others. Two questions related to this, if I may: (1) Being an American, and not being scientifically or mathematically inclined, I'm wondering if anyone's done a recipe for Waller Water in English units (quarts, ounces, etc.)by ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Jackie, All the above may be, and probably is, true. So I sincerely thank you for sharing it. Adrian, Don't tell my doctors, but I'm taking small amounts of Nattokinase (100 mg, 2x) and Serrapeptase (83 mg, 2x) along with Coumadin. My INR readings are pretty stable at around 2.5. But this is post-ablation, and I'm in NSR. Prior to my ablation I followed doctor's orders on this strictly. Hoping to get off Coumadin in three months or so . . . Montos, When I first had Afib, I saw a series of EPs and cardiologists until I found one that I could work with. The first one wanted to put in a pacemaker. The second one thought it might be my thyroid (which wasn't so bad, but he sent me off to a useless endocrinologist). The third put me on a series of beta-blockers, which made things worse, and wanted me to take digoxin, which I refuby ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM
