Quoteshca67 Went in Friday am to a local ER as EP group had procedures all day. Rate was steady, between 80 - 100 controlled with my beta blocker. They did the usual blood work, administered the thinner in the belly, waited 40 minutes and then gave me a shock. Interesting, they provided a very small dose of propofol....60mg, then 10 more, then 10 more, then gave me the juice. i was a little loopyby Mark - AFIBBERS FORUM
Have been on flec. for about 31/2 years. 2 episodes since. Self converted once with a few extra doses of flec. added to my regimen and once via ECV as the added flec was not helpful. Currently 50x3. Not sure this is applicable but if you are lucky enough to know what some of your aFib triggers are and can avoid them, if possible, then maybe that would help any medication to have a longer shelfby Mark - AFIBBERS FORUM

Here's the article mentioned above. While presenting a mixed message it does hold out hope that some ARB's are helpful with respect to some afib. Have to scroll down a bit to find the Atrial Fribrillation section. Stay safe.by Mark - AFIBBERS FORUM
No, have not not found any studies though I have looked. I was basing my post on the general readings that lisinopril can be related to hyperkalemia (high possum) and hyperkalemia can be related to cardiac arrhythmias. In my post I guess I was extending the "arrhythmias" to include afib. Maybe shouldn't have done that. Obviously, the high potasssium concern is something youby Mark - AFIBBERS FORUM
Have read older posts from members who are taking 'lisinopril." However, most seem to be taking it for high blood pressure. Cardiac Doc suggesting that I take it for a condition called "atrial regurgitation (AR)" or atrial insufficiency." A valve replacement may be down the road. Have read some online literature suggesting lisinopril can be related to heart arrhythmiaby Mark - AFIBBERS FORUM
Seems like every time I think I understand a concept I read something else only to find out I don’t understand squat. I would like to get off needing to take a NOAC in the hopes of being able to take some anti inflammatory meds which would greatly improve my QOL. But, if I understand this discussion correctly, that may not be possible even following an ablation or something type of LAA isolatioby Mark - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quotekeeferbdeefer Only people who have arrhythmia can ever understand. Our bodies intrinsically know how important the heart is. And so when it misfires over and over again, I really do think a sense of dread sets in as a warning to take it easy or get help. Even short episodes bring on a sense of doom that just lingers. Sorry Carey but I swear I posted a response earlier but no. I just take the flecainide and eliquis. BPM's now typically in the 48 to 55 range with the 55ish reading noted following my morning walk of between 3 to 4 miles. For my follow up meeting next week I am hoping to have a clarifying list of questions to which I hope I can get clarifying answers. This forum helps. After reading theby Mark - AFIBBERS FORUM
Not going to count my first ECV. Had several episodes that lasted 24/36 hours and self-converted by adding an extra flecanide to my regimen. Last episode, additional flecainide did not help, I did not self-convert, and was in slow rate afib for several months (long story). Consequently, I needed a one jolt, 200J ECV. windyshores, Don't be sorry. You done good. I don't know how many times in my life when I have encountered a problems that I said to myself: "Look you're not special and not the first person who has ever encountered this problem." windyshores, I am a somewhat new member and poster here so take what I say with even a larger grain of salt. I wonder if corticosteroids (prednisone) and noncorticosteroids (ibuprofen) are similar with respect to afib in that unless you have certain types of ablation procedures (not that I am suggesting them) use of these medications is generally not recommended or are in a use at your own riskby Mark - AFIBBERS FORUM
Have only had two meetings with my new EP. Once for the initial office visit and once at the ECV. Former EP left for practice in another state. I scared him away I think. GeorgeN, Think I read about about the procedure you mentioned in another thread when I searched "pacemaker." His conversation just mentioned ablation in a general way. Recently cardioverted from about a 90 day stay in slow rate afib (70ish bpm). Long story as to why the extended stay (old EP left and had to find a new one is part of the story) but it's done and back in NSR. Does staying in afib for long periods of time damage the heart in any way? 73 years old. Diagnosed about 3 years ago which required my first ECV. No, I do not have one of those but at least one other person on an apnea website forum suggest looking into an oximeter of one type or another. So, I should look into. that. I just unpacked and used my new Kardia 6L about 45 minutes. Set up went without a hitch and strips came out looking fine on my iPhone and on the email I sent to myself. Not sure if encrypting the email is necessary ??? So, from a very new user of Kardia I would give it a thumbs up.
