Some afibbers seem to be a bit confused between the natto food and the nattokinase supplement. Some are abbreviating nattokinase to "natto" adding to the confusion. I think to clarify the situation when we are talking about the actual natto food we should always add the "food" onto the end of natto. For example, Elizabeth's post above states: "Shannon said thatby Dean - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks heaps for that George! I had a computer "malfunction" a while back and thought I lost all that info. Haven't got my head around this newly designed afibbers website yet to find it all but you have done an excellent job. Cheers mate, Deanby Dean - AFIBBERS FORUM
Roel, I know there is dried natto and I believe it is standard rations for Japanese Commando's. I have never tried it though. Don't know if it would be the same as fresh or frozen natto. Give it a try? Deanby Dean - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks all for the uplifting comments! Joe I'm at Forster NSW. If you can get the fresh natto that's the best. The best frozen natto is the organic one in the green packaging but all the others are OK. Jackie If it wasn't for your research highlighting natto I would probably be lined up for my 2nd or 3rd ablation like most here. Colin Never tried Kefir but seem's tby Dean - AFIBBERS FORUM
I first posted on afibbers.org in early 2003. For what its worth this is my complete history. LAF History I am a 61 year old Australian male. I have now been afib free for 13 years. First trip to the ER was in 1996 with SVT. Ectopic beats gradually increased after that (didn't know what they were back then). First AF attack in 1999 that lasted for 18hours. Hello Herman, For all nattokinase information the Japanese Nattokinase Association has an excellent website. There is also information on counterfeit nattokinase that everybody should be aware of. Deanby Dean - AFIBBERS FORUM
Looks like us low risk afibbers are damned if we do and damned if we don't........... So what the are saying is if we go on anticoagulation therapy we are swapping a low risk of ischemic stroke for a considerably higher risk of hemorrhagic stroke and bleeding to death? Deanby Dean - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie and George, Forgot to add I had an ECG and 24hr Holter monitor as well. I have 1st degree AV block (common in athletes and afib risk). Deanby Dean - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi George, Have been eating natto food for 12 years now and religiously eating it every second or third day but stopped at end of January when started to experience intestinal pain. Thought it might have been the natto food and abruptly stopped eating it (in hindsight maybe should have gradually eased back eating it instead). Over the next two months my blood pressure went up considerably (wby Dean - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Peggy, Loved the chocolate one. About time we had something nice to eat instead of all that “healthy food”. Went for check up the other week and Doc suggested I go on Warfarin (Coumadin) because of my past afib history even though I have low risk factors and haven't had an attack for 13 years! Looks like the afib guidelines for Doctors have now changed in Australia so every one wiby Dean - AFIBBERS FORUM
Interesting site, “The Japan Nattokinase Association”, for those taking Nattokinase supplements or eating natto food. I have been eating the natto food every second day for the last ten years and the most interesting observation is that I haven’t been sick in those ten years. Only a bit of hayfever. Before starting natto food I used to occasionally get colds, strep throat, tonsillitis and othby Dean - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello afibbers, Like you I am a GERD afibber. I was diagnosed with a loose LES and was on Prilosec for 8 years. In the end I just threw them away in disgust and went cold turkey and amazingly the GERD symptoms gradually dissipated. I still occasionally have the odd reflux so I found this simple solution really works for me: Before meals try drinking a small glass of water that has a teasby Dean - AFIBBERS FORUM
Liz, That post to Erling from me is the same Dean (me) from Australia with the natto. When I read it you sent my blood pressure soaring through the roof. That year, 2003, was very stressful for me. Several months before that post I went for what was suppose to be a “simple” ablation for LAF but the EP didn’t ablate as the heart pacing revelled many more errant and complicated circuits thanby Dean - AFIBBERS FORUM
G’day George and “The Anti-Afib”, Just read this post and have to agree with “The Anti-Afib” point of view. This forum is all about ablation now but then I suppose it is a sign of the times. With all the wonderful variety of food out there in the world why would you put yourself on a long term highly restrictive yukky diet and supplements for afib when you can get a quick ablation (or two) and bby Dean - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Mike, Haven't posted for a while. You and I have been on this forum for about the same time....eleven, twelve years? You have exhausted all options and have fought the good battle so to me sounds like you are ready for an ablation. Good luck mate. Dean PS. Still eating that filthy nattto food every 3rd day. TomB The nattokinase is derived from natto food but there are other enzymes in the natto food that also affect blood clotting and are anti –inflammatory as well: -Pyrazine that gives natto food its awful smell and reduces the likelihood of blood clotting. -Tetramethylpyrazine that is anti-inflammatory compound. So in the natto food you have these three things, nattokinase, pyrazine anby Dean - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi all, First off, I’m not pushing for the psychologists / psychiatrists. The buggers charge a fortune!!! From my previous recent post “ Does LAF predispose us to other future diseases?” It’s obvious LAF is a more a psychological problem than a life threatening situation and really doesn’t lead to major diseases down the track. There was no suggestion from anyone of future diseases BUT therby Dean - AFIBBERS FORUM
Being a long time poster here I have noticed much discussion on the possible causes of LAF but little on the long term effects on the rest of our body (other than our hearts). Are there scientific studies out there that link having LAF with the early onset of other diseases, for example, Alzheimers or kidney disease? Hi vtville, Welcome to the board, you’ve come to the right place. Your story is identical to mine. I too suffered from SVT that eventually led to afib. In fact SVT was more of a nuisance than afib. Your afib/SVT/pvc trigger is exactly the same as mine – bending over. I found that after I bend over and triggered something then if I then immediately stood at attention and very still like a soldby Dean - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Ralph and George, This article from New Scientist magazine should make it clearer. I have shown some of the interesting extracts. If the sodium excretion does run in weekly to monthly cycles as this research suggests then doesn’t that have implications for cyclical afib? Hans, This maybe the missing piece in your experiment with aldosterone and cortisol – “Aldosterone: Villain of the Peace?” Remember Mars 500 mission when they locked up six volunteers for 520 days in a mocked up spacecraft in Russia?
