Thanks Pompon. That is indeed what would interest me - a model with its own display and memory, and downloadable to my computer by wire. However, like you have mentioned, if it will only say "suspected afib" or "possible afib"... well really I have not gained much. I am already able to clearly detect when I am arrhythmic and when I am NSR. I just wasn't sure all these arrby PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Susan for this info and explanation of Afibalert device. i was not aware of that option. Will look into it. Sounds like it might be the best way to go in my old-school non-wifi existence.by PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey If you're going to be asking this question often, which seems likely, why not buy a Kardia so you can check whenever you want instead of having to requisition ECGs and drive to a clinic and all? I have considered that. I own no wireless devices because I am anti-wireless. so i would have to also get a smartphone or at least ipad or it's useless. and then if i had ipad, in oby PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey I think you're probably experiencing AF episodes, but without an actual ECG of some sort, at least a Kardia or Apple Watch, there's no way to be sure. I don't think that pulse ox tells you anything at all other than your SpO2 levels, which aren't particularly relevant. Thanks Carey. I'll see if I can get a requisition for a walk-in EKG that I can use at a labby PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quotesusan.d I had a CT angiogram Insurance picked up the cost. Non invasive, nothing snaked up your veins like the typical angiogram. I don’t know how it compares in accuracy with CAC but it detected the percentage of plaque in my heart and heart structure my local EP cardiologist and Natale wanted the CD to view which I was told by his NP that he put up on the monitor of the cath lab durinby PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteGeorgeN Does the pattern in the first image repeat? With that short a series, it is hard to give any opinion. The pattern in the first image has about that degree of erraticness continuously, usually for several days. But this last time it converted in 4 hours - maybe because I tried the conversion strategy of low-sodium V8 + 400 mg magnesium + 2 cups water immediately upon detecting it.by PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteNotLyingAboutMyAfib Pretty sure CAC was intended - I am one of those that think everyone should have at least one and if there is an issue then follow up the same as you would for colonoscopy. I see. I just looked up CAC. I wasn't aware of that test. Thanks!by PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM
This is a little experiment. I don't know if it will work. Am trying to share 2 images. Pulse oximeter when I am arrhythmic. Actual heart rate was 95-100 bpm (w stethoscope) despite what pulse ox says. Pulse oximeter when I returned to NSR. Heart rate shown is correct at this point. Is it at all possible to tell from this whether my arrhythmia is 'just' a run of eby PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey Yes, it's possible to have ectopics for weeks, months, or even indefinitely. But what you're describing could easily be AF. Just because it isn't as debilitating as the first time doesn't mean it's not AF. When you listen with the stethoscope is it consistently irregular or does the irregularity come and go? If it's continuous, that's probably AF. Theby PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quotesusan.d I had PVCs everyday for 5-6 months, mostly in the end nonstop. No af. So yes it’s possible to get a run. My PVCs stopped with Tenormin 37.5mg a day. Thanks for this info. This helps clarify for me what might be happening in some of my episodes.by PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM
Can a run of pure ectopics last 3-4 days? And be nothing but ectopics? I ask because my my recent multi-day arrhythmia runs have felt like "lesser" Afib. Much less shortness of breath and I can move around pretty normally. I can tell from stethoscope and fingertip pulse oximeter (which I use repeatedly throughout these episodes) that I have no NSR during the entire time. I have peakby PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM

QuoteLarryG Hey, Kim. Don’t know much about how medical care is provided in Canada. Here in the states, my GP — not my EP — orders labs for me: A1C, electrolyte panel, etc. Not knowing anything about you, a calcium scan may be appropriate and useful. /L By calcium scan - do you mean blood test for calcium? Part of my problem with these tests is I don't have a GP. There is a huge Gby PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM

I agree about sleep studies being designed to fail. I can't see how I would get a typical night's sleep (and maybe no sleep at all) on a sleep study. I also think I would never fall asleep if I thought an alarm was going to go off on some SpO2 monitor while I slept. I have a lot of problems with insomnia - even with sedative!by PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM
NLAMA - How do I get the stored data off that overnight oxygen saturation tracker? Do I press a button the next morning and it displays low reading(s) or something? I do have a fingertip pulse oximeter, but of course have to be awake to use it. lol! If it requires an app and smart phone (or similar device) like a Kardia does... I don't own any wireless devices (by choice).by PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you for this detailed reply, Susan! I had no idea what was involved in a sleep study. It might be easier/cheaper for me to start by just trying to audio-record myself one night somehow with some gadget. I suppose a noise-activated recorder would be best. I don't have a smartphone or tablet or anything I could bring into my bedroom (no wireless devices in my home). But I will hunt arounby PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quotesusan.d I had three home studies. They mailed me the box with instructions and I called up ups to pick up the next day. Once the medical supplier sent a delivery guy and he came back the next day. That's good to know. I may try to do it this way. Did you turn out to have sleep apnea? And is there any way to know in advance? (I live alone, so cannot consult another party re: snoring)by PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM
Is it possible to get a sleep apnea test in one's own home/bed, I wonder? In this time of covid, I would not really want to sleep anywhere else. Plus I can't imagine how I would fall asleep in some sleep lab somewhere. I have a lot of insomnia.by PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM

Thank you for the detailed reply Carey. I think my interest in CRP was to have a baseline so that as I pursue anti-inflammatory strategies, I could see if it goes down. But for all I know it may already be okay. The only past one of mine I could find is from 2 years ago, shortly after I completed chemo-radiation for a cancer, and it was 0.3 at the time. I have a phone appointment with a new cardiologist in 2 days. Would like to make the most of it and see if I can get some him to order some tests of inflammatory markers, electrolytes, glucose(?) and other things that will help me as I try to design my own best approach for managing (maybe ending) afib with diet, some supplements etc. I'm in British Columbia, so may not have access to alby PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteNotLyingAboutMyAfib One of those things I was doing when AF first happened to me was eating large spinach salads until I learned about oxalates. Plants without claws and teeth to defend themselves have some nasty defenses against being eaten. Are oxalates bad for AF specifically? The 50 g being referenced by colindo was the weight of the natto packet, in which there is 1,400-2,000 FU nattokinase. My 56 g frozen natto packet says it's "2 servings". So I just had 1/2 this morning - about 28 g of natto. So I may only have gotten 700 FU nattokinase from that. So it looks to me like I would need to supplement with nattokinase if I actually want to reach 2000 FUby PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM

Quotecolindo BTW. Most of the bacteria beneficial to the intestines such as bifidus are killed in the stomach by the acid before they reach the intestines if taken orally. But natto bacteria are able to survive the journey and reproduce in the intestines where they aid digestion. Interesting! Glad to hear that. I could use some assistance with digestion!by PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had my 1st natto this morning. It was.... okay. It smelled quite nice - like aromatic coffee beans. And I stirred it up first to get that white sticky webby thing happening. But more chewing was involved than I was prepared for. I just stuffed a large tablespoon of it in my mouth, unadorned. That's about half of one of the frozen styrafoam packages (which claim to contain 2 servings).by PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am interested in natto for both the K2-Mk7 and the nattokinase. I was reading that one tablespoon of natto has more than 150 mcg K2-Mk7. That means I can stop taking my K2 pill, which is just 100 mcg. And I am all for removing pills from my life. Will put the EVOO on it or some other fat for the K2 absorption. I am going to try my first natto tomorrow morning!by PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you for this info Colindo. I may try it that way - on toast with seasoning. It sounds like it has been super effective for you! I will try my first natto tomorrow morning.by PoetKim - AFIBBERS FORUM
