Steve Carr said to me:. But at 80 years of age I would certainly be meticulous in my approach and would listen to doctors opinions very carefully. From your response it appears that age has something to do with a good outcome. There are some on this board that are in their 70s, so I guess they don't have too much time. Why didn't they get a separate plane for those 14 passengers. Sounds bad if you can get it again. Lizby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Steve: Great, hopefully more success stories coming. For me my Sodium is 140, Pot. 4.2, CA 9.3 the only bad part is my D3 which tested at 33 this past Jan. For the last 2 weeks I have increased my Vit. D but not to the extent that has been posted, so I see my Holistic Doc next month and see what I test then. I am in persistent AF, probably need more than Vit D to get me out of it. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I looked at the video, I wish vit. C could help AF, I do take vit. C in a spray form. Lizby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
At Ascension Genesys Michigan, one of the doctors that I was going to get an Appt. with is on this You tube. They were talking about that they do ablations without exposure to radiation, they use Ultra Sound guidance in 3D mapping. The doctor said that sometimes the patient can go home the same day of his ablation, does Dr. Natalie use this as well? ascension genesys michigan Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
You have someone right here---me. I had perioxyamal Af for 20 years, my episodes were anywhere from 12 to 24 hours, they usually started around 5:00 a.m., sometimes late at night before going to bed. During those 20 years I did not take any anticoagulants, except when first getting AF my doc. put me on Coumadin which I couldn't take, so it was dropped. I was in good health, no diabetes etby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM

How can this guys heart function be normal, his treatment is only a blood thinner (is that a treatment), wonder why he didn't get an ablation. About 1 in 10 people 65 or older in the U.S. have atrial fibrillation, a type of irregular heartbeat that is treatable but can potentially be serious. Carey: I may not even be able to take the anticoagulant, I am taking it now. I don't know if I posted that I have had some blood from my rectum when going to the bathroom not always but it has happened a few times. I have never, ever, had anything like this in 50 years, it may be from the Xeralto, I don't know. I spoke today with an assistant in my doctors office about it. I hadby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Afib:: The doctor I have had for 20 years is phasing out his practice, I had asked him who he would recommend as he is not available much anymore. He gave me this doctor's name that will order the cardioversion/tikosyn, I could consult with this new doc. when needed.. Tikosyn and Flecainide both sound like nasty drugs. There are a lot of people that take a blood thinner and live with tby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey said: If the Tikosyn works for you without unwanted side effects, you should expect to remain on it indefinitely, or until you have an ablation. I had no bad experiences with it and can't think of anyone I know of who did. Why would I have to stay on the drug indefinitely? If I convert and stay AF free, couldn't I then stop this drug, or do you think that this drug would beby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am leery of this drug: Torsades de pointes is the most serious side effect of dofetilide therapy. The incidence of torsades de pointes is 0.3-10.5% and is dose-related, with increased incidence associated with higher doses. The majority of episodes of torsades de pointes have occurred within the first three days of initial dosing. Patients should be hospitalized and monitored for the first tby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Anti-fib, I guess that is what I will do, I wonder if they will want me on Tikosyn for very long. You were on that drug did you have any bad experiences with it? Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I just spoke with the nurse from my EP;s office in Ann Arbor (U of M. Hospital), the EP would put me on Tikosyn then I spend the 3 days in the hospital and then they would cardiovert me, 3 nights and 4 days,. I thought they wait and see if the drug will convert you, but that isn't what they plan to do. Is this being the correct way as I don't know, I told her I would call her back, Iby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
George: Well, that is an idea, I could try it. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Carey and all that responded: I wasn't sure if this was the way that doctors are going, as I have always had the same doctor. This really surprised me that I was told if I wanted this new EP then I had to stop seeing any other EP, when I said I couldn't do that they wouldn't give me an Appt., you know, I could have lied about that but I don't like liars and couldnby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Daisy: Afib: No, this is the first time I have looked into a EP that would be close by. For the last 20 years I always converted back into NSR after an episode of AF, so I had this one and only EP for all of those years and saw him just twice a year as I was ok. The people making the appts of this new EP wanted all of my records from my primary doc. which they got, then they wanted aby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I tried to get a EP locally where I live as the EP I have been seeing is affiliated with U of Michigan Hospital, he also has another EP at U of M that I can see. The problem is it is about an hours drive to see them, so I have been trying to get an EP locally, the problem is this EP wants me to cut all ties with the previous doctors, he wants to be the only one that I would see. I saw this video a few months ago and I did post about it. If AF causes a stroke, many of us should have had one when we have episodes of AF I believe Dr. Gupta when he says that we have to have other issues that contribute to having a stroke. JP You say you are in NSR and have no issues with the drug, I am on thyroid meds and I have read that Amiodarone can cause problems with the thyroid, it can either make you hypo or hyper. The EP that I have been seeing said that he would put me on the lowest dose, I have always read bad things about this drug, you are the first person that has posted about your good experience with Amiodaroneby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have an appointment with a new cardio/EP, I am dropping my EP that I have gone to for almost 20 years, he disappointed me when he said that another Cardioversion would probably not hold, he could have tried one more time. Also, his drug of choice for me is Aminodormine, I don't think he likes it that I refuse to take it. He asked how I am feeling as to the extent that the AF is affectingby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey said --- Tikosyn is usually pretty effective but I would check Tikosyn prices and what your Medicare drug plan will pay. It tends to be pretty expensive. I checked with my Ins. and they said that the 100-150 mcg. would cost around 73.00 for 20 pills, then when the donut hole is reached the cost would be 48.00. I did get initially get 30 pills without any cost but then the following script I had to pay the 337.00, then pay 47.00 until the donut hole. Sue: I was prescribed Prednisone when I got Poison Ivy, it was only 5 mg., My Holistic doc once prescribed Prednisone for me at the 5 mg., he had no problem about taking Prednisone, our bodies produce some Prednisone. Saw my EP today: I asked about another Cardioversion, he said that it probably would not take and has advised against it. He wants to try drugs especially Aminodorine (sp) I said I didn't want that drug, he did mention tikosyn, I would have to spend 3 days in the hospital but he seemed to feel that as long as I am not in a high heart rate or huffing and puffing that I should just take myby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
