George: What is the difference between persistent afib and permanent Afib? Perhaps I have misspoke I have been told I am in AF about 80%. Are you saying that you have gone in and out of AF during your 2.5 months? Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Daisy: I have never had an ablation, but, you know I have had a Pace maker installed about 20 years ago and I have had more of these Aura migraines since then. Could there be a connection or is it because of my AF and family history? Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Colindo: I know what my vit. D level is, it is rather low, 30 ng/ml it is right at the low end of the scale, so I could probably use a little more Vit. D. But, would never use the amount that Steve recommends that is way too much. Also, you say that my AF is too far advanced, I went into permanent AF about 3 months ago, George N was in permanent AF for about 2 /2 months and he got back intby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Joy I really hate these Aura Migraines, I sometimes hate them worse than AF. There are all kinds of symptoms that can happen with these Auras, I have read that a numbness sometimes happens in your left arm and face, it is scary. The numbness has happened to me twice which did scare me as I have gotten these Auras off and on throughout my life, but apparently this can happen and it is due toby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Steve: I am probably not taking very much Vit D, I am using a Maxasorb D3 cream, I use a full pump (1,000 IU per dose). I did buy a supplement that has 5,000 IU of Vit D 3 it is not from fish oil it is from Lanolin. What do you think about getting Vit D from Lanolin, but I havn't taken any of it as yet. I thought I was getting some Aura migraines from fish oil, so I had stopped it lastby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Jwalkup3836: I stopped vit D early last summer, I too get it as rule from the sun, but I live in a cold climate (hardly any sun) and last Nov. I went into permanent AF. I first got AF around 1998, I usually got only a few/year for quite a few years, this past year I started getting more episodes until Nov. of last year when I went into permanent AF. I believe this was caused by my thyroid beby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Smackman: You said you have had more than one ablation, did he ablate your LAA? You said you are on Eliquis, that gives problems like trying to get a colonoscopy, or any kind of surgery. I want to get off bloodthinners, probably an ablation won't do that for me, only a watchman, at this point I don't know if that will be possible, I see my EP this next Wed.by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Susan: I don't drink, eat very little sweets if I do it is organic, stopped coffee about 3 months ago. I have a large garden, I raise many veggies and freeze them, I have fruit trees that I take care of. My diet is very good, it is my DNA, my mother had AF. I see my Holistic doc. twice a year and he takes a lot of blood work, I have always been good. It is this dang AF, I agree with yby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had a Cardioversion about 3 weeks ago, I was AF free for 3 days and went back in AF. I have stopped all calcium foods like cheese, which is about the only cal. food that I ate, and have tried to get my Vit. D up, it checked around 30 ng/ml, I started this about 3 weeks ago and it hasn't done anything for me, still in AF. Perhaps my Vit. D is still low, I see my Holistic doctor in March aby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
It looks like my Cardioversion only lasted about 3 days, I sent my pacemaker results in yesterday and today I got a call saying that I am in Afib, I am in it about 80% of the time. I was told I was in NSR for about 3 days, so its failed. She was going to talk to my EP and said either another cardioversion, an ablation and/or trying a different drug, she mentioned Tikosyn. I know some on here hby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Linda: I have read that during the Aura Migraine you can have a tingling in your arm and even your mouth, I have had that twice in my lifetime, it is also a part of what some people can experience during these attacks. I know it is scary but just know it does happen. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Madeline: I had my thyroid nuked about 25 years ago, I probably have a little thyroid left, I take 125 mcg. a day of Synthroid, I have since it was nuked. What is your TSH, free T3 and free T4? My thyroid was responsible for my first AF episode, it was a long time ago I had taken a little more thyroid med and became hyper which put me into my episode of AF. I was taking a little extra lastby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
IDS 001 Sounds like an Aura Migraine to me---I get those, I have since my early 20s and I am now 80. I got only a couple a year until I started getting AF then I might get a couple a month now, I can't take some supplements as they will give me those Aura Migraines. Yes, they start with a zigzag flashes of light and depending where it hits you in your eye they can obstruct your vision.by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I agree with Safib about the isolation of the left Atrial Appendage and then having to be on blood thinners the rest of your life. I have thought about an ablation but I am sure I would have to have the above procedure done as well. What I will do is to eventually try to get the new Watchman and either stay in AF (which isn't too bad), try to stay in NSR but forego an ablation, most have tby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Cortisol, Hypoglycemia can cause your fast heartbeats, thyroid can if you are hyper. Do you know what your thyroid numbers are, what is your TSH, your free T4 and your free T3? I had Graves disease a long time ago and had my Thyroid nuked and went on Synthroid, there was a time when I was a little hypo and took a little extra thyroid med. I then became hyper and got my first episode of AFIB, tby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Colindo:: Good article, thanks for that--I am concerned about taking mega doses of any supplement. Food and sun is a better way to go to get your Vit. D., in the winter months I will take some Vit. D supplements but just a few days out of the week. My Vit D now is around 30, my Holistic doctor doesn't seem concerned about it, but I will try to get it up a little. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
George: You said: It took two procedures for my friend as he also needed LAA work. It took quite a while for his heart to heal to the point that the LAA metrics allowed him to get off all anti-coagulants, but today he is afib free without meds. Every time I see him, he and his wife profusely thank me for being so insistent. Most people that have posted on here and have had LAA work donby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I was talking to a Pharmacist at the Xeralto site, I was told that there will be no Generic until Aug. in the year 24 and Eliquis in the year 31. I have read on this site that there is a generic coming for Eliquis this year, who is right? The Pharmacist also said that the drugs have 30 years before they have a generic. I am taking xeralto I had to pay $337.00 for the beginning of this year thaby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
So Aspirin "thins" the blood, what about people that are on blood thinners and get this flu? Therefore, by artificially lowering fever with aspirin, infection multiplied and spread to internal organs. Aspirin also “thins” the blood causing the lungs to develop a dangerous buildup of fluid. Now we have a perfect medium for germ growth. Therefore, autopsies from 1918 flu or Spanish Fluby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
When I first got AF my regular doctor prescribed a Beta Blocker (Atenolol) which I took for a while, it made me very tried. I don't remember how long I took this drug but when I would go out of AF to NSR my heart beat would almost flat line for a few seconds and I would almost black out. This was caught when I happened to be in my Doctors office. I got an EP and he immediately had me getby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wheat Germ has the highest Spermidine, higher than Natto, could one substitute Wheat Germ instead of Natto? I take meds for my thyroid (I was hyper and had it nuked, years ago) I read that Soybeans should not be eaten if you have thyroid problems. I know that Natto is from Fermented soybeans and that is supposed to negate the soybeans effect on thyroids, but I want to be sure. Lizby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Carey said: (But the statement is true. A properly done ablation line makes it impossible for afib signals to get past the line). The following is from Stop Afib.Org Very late recurrence differs from early or late recurrence. Early recurrence occurs within three months of catheter ablation and is related to tissue inflammation that arises from ablation. If atrial fibrillation returnby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
An EP once told me that ablation might not prevent AF from initiating itself but should make it impossible for it to sustain itself. Gill Then why do people have more than one ablation, sometimes they have 3 or maybe 6? Lby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi In108 I just ordered the second one you listed, sounds real good. I didn't know Vit D came like this, great find, thanks. Lizby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
You can get Vit. D from Lanolin, would that be ok to use to increase my Vit. D level? The supplement comes in capsules so I bought it and will try it hoping that it won't cause me any problems. Lizby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
I took Vit. D 3 for about 5 days, but I am getting these dang Aura Migraines, one on Wed. and one this A.M., I had quit taking Vit.D. before because I thought I was getting these Auras from it. but I thought I would try it again but I guess I can't. Is there anything else that I can get Vit D from other than Fish oil, I read flaxseed Oil has Vit. D. I was cardioverted a little over a wby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Saurkraut has a lot of similar benefits to Natto, tastes better also: I am a little concerned about taking Natto because I have thyroid problems, I know they say that because it is fermented it is ok to use. Natto has quite a bit of Ca. which we shouldn't use. But I say if it is helping you that's fine. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
We do get taurine from food like fish, meat, eggs. If you are taking taurine in large doses, you may see some side effects such as short term memory loss. You can also have ulcer trouble because taurine stimulates your stomach acid. There are some people who have intense itching and even psoriasis in doses of 2g a day or higher. Those who have epilepsy may experience dizziness, gait troublby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Carey; Thanks Carey, I didn't know that the ER would do that, my heart rate has never gone over 100 so I guess I would have to sit there a long time. They were very through at U of M but perhaps it was overkill. I wouldn't do that again, too far and a long day and I am not sure I am in NSR, my heart beat feels normal when sitting and relaxing but moving around, going up and downby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey: Do you have to be on a anti-coagulant, and how do they know if you really are, do they use a Tee first? Well that is good to know, I had to drive to Ann Arbor which is about an hours drive from my house, also, I had to get someone to come with me as they did not want me to drive back. How about eating/drinking water, do you have to stop all for a time? Do you make arrangements in aby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
