I got the following blog from the "Peoples Pharmacy", apparently if you have hyperparathyroidism you can get in trouble taking too much vit. D, of course the blogger took a lot. However, I personally don't like taking vit. D I would rather get it from the sun which I do in the months that I am able to get out and work in my yard and garden. In the winter months I can't do tby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
George: She said I was in AF only a total of 2.7%, she said I wasn't in it very long. I doubt if she is the math wizard that you are and neither am I. It also leads me to wonder about how good these pacemakers are in recording my AF info. Your math makes sense, it is possible, the only thing is she said I wasn't in AF for very long. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
As I have said in previous posts that I have a Pacemaker, it records my episodes of AF. About every 3 months or so I send in a recording from the device to the device clinic, they read it and they see my AF episodes, when and for how long. I sent in a recording last Wed., I called the next day and spoke with the device nurse. I know when I had my AF episodes and usually for how long, we agreedby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey: Why are you on Eliqus, I thought the purpose of having the Watchman would be that an anticoagulant would no longer be needed? Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Well this is what Dr. Oz says about Aspirin, Dr. Natalie doesn't seem to have too much of a problem with aspirin. An aspirin a day can block certain chemicals like thromboxane, which is naturally produced to clot blood. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
How much aspirin did you take and how do you know it was the aspirin that caused your GI bleeding, you were taking Plavix which also can cause bleeding. My mother was on Coumadin and had bleeding in her GI tract. May I ask why are you on Pantoprazole now since you quit aspirin? Also why are you on 2 blood thinners, seems like overkill. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
No Aspirin is not a benign drug and neither is Equilis. Probably most drugs are not benig, they all have some side effects. Lby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie: Backing off on aspirin The ACC/AHA guideline makes clear that aspirin remains life-saving when prescribed following an event such as a heart attack or placement of a stent. But for others, recent evidence shows the risk-benefit analysis tipping away from widespread use of low-dose aspirin due to the potential for bleeding. Doctors should not be prescribing it without a cardiovascuby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Louise post this as a new post so it appears on the front page, I believe most only look there. You need some answers, perhaps Carey will respond. I have never had an ablation or a watchman so I cannot help you. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Arnold S. had a Watchman device implanted. Arnold Schwarzenegger spoke about his experience being implanted with Boston Scientific‘s (NYSE:BSX) Watchman left atrial appendage closure device, experience with aortic repair, the medical industry and more on stage at the annual Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics conference in San Franscisco. Registration is Open for DeviceTalks Bostoby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
George: I didn't know that Arnold S. had those kinds of problems, thank you for your post. You are a wealth of info. Lby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Joe: Interesting, as you probably know T3 would stimulate the heart rate, a beta blocker slows it, after a Heart attack, don't know about using T3. For people that cannot tolerate a beta blocker they could put in a pacemaker so that the heart rate couldn't fall below whatever the pacer is set at. lizby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
I wonder if Arnold Schwarzenegger had AF he must have done a lot of heavy lifting. lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ghost said: The EKG beat is very pronounced - always has been. When googling "strong heart beat" or "can feel my heart beat" it always brings up palpitations and the sort, no one is out there saying that it is normal. My cardiologist had no problem with it. Another thing that could cause it is if your blood sugar is low. I always have a protein snack about an hourby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ghost: I usually can feel and hear my heart beat when lying down to sleep, I had a heart doctor once say to me that I had a strong heartbeat. So if everything checks ok with your heart then I don't think there is anything wrong, you just have a strong heartbeat. I have learned to just relax and think of something else before falling to sleep Also, I had this strong heartbeat even befby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
The Hunzas live a robust life past 100 years, they don't eat a keto diet, they do a little fasting and don't overeat, they eat a lot of veggies, yogurt, grains, nuts and a little meat. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Very interesting, I do think blood thinners are over prescribed, a person that has AF only a couple of times a year is put on blood thinners which is in my opinion over kill. How many doctors check your blood platelet count before prescribing a blood thinner? They didn't with me, I do have low blood platelets, not real low but right at the lower end or a little below the lab values. I belby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
George: Most people don't do all that you did perfecting your diet. Probably the main thing was the lack of electrolytes in the diet, most didn't allow for that, I guess if you don't know what you are doing don't do it. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
This study is interesting, I have always read that the Medertranian diet was the best, beans, veggies, fruits, grains. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Kate Liz. Forgive me. I should know this but do you manage your Afib with medicine and lifestyle or have you had an ablation? I have never had an ablation, I take 1 tab. (150mg.) of Propafenone at night before bedtime as I am vagal and get my episodes at night or very early in the morning. I do get episodes sometimes once a month or in the summer I can go a lot longer between episodes.by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Madeline: My Propafenone is the drug of old it is not extended release, my EP felt that since I just seem to get my episodes late at night or very early A.M. that is when I needed the drug. Propafenone has a 1/2 life of 4 hours, it is only good for 8 hours, that is probably why your doctor has you taking 3 pills it covers you for 24 hours. You have said that you do get episodes in the eveninby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
David: I do take a 80mg. aspirin pretty much every day, I had a problem with a blood thinner (Coumadin) couldn't take it, never tried these new ones, don't see where they would be different for me. I know all the things they say about aspirin but I feel for me it is better than nothing, I also have had a problem with Natto (gives me aura migraines) so I am limited in what I take. Mike: I recall when you wrote about having a stroke, it takes a long time to recover but you are getting there. I don't understand why when a person is on a blood thinner and stops it for a few days that they should stroke, why? That actually is scary, what happens when people have been on a blood thinner and then after an ablation or watchman they can then can go off it, can they possiby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I take Propafenone , 1 tab 150mg., every night before bed, I have for a number of years. I did not take the first dose in a hospital, it could be because I have a pacemaker that I didn't need to, also I take a low dose. Flecainide is a little different, my EP did not like it and prescribed Propafeone, on the low dose I take I have had no problems. I did try a higher dose last summer, my Eby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Deela: That is good that you have an appt. with Dr. Natalee so soon, to have your heart rate that high is very tiring, a beta blocker should slow it somewhat. I wish you all the best and let us know how you are. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lots of vegetables and a little fruit, I know you said you eat eggs but I don't see any meat listed, I thought you did eat meat. I wonder why it is that I have to eat meat to get my protein without it I have no energy. I do eat veggies and fruit but couldn't live on it. From what you have said you can do all that you do on what you eat is amazing. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
George: Do you really think that the protocol that you are following is really healthy? If you are fasting and don't eat much, how does your body get enough nutrients? Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Deela: I had a pacer put in similar to what your problem was---when I was in an AF episode and going back into NSR my heartrate almost flat lined for a few seconds so I got a pacer, no more problem. As to your fast heartrate do you know what they set your pacing at? About a year ago I went for my pacer interrogation, after that my heart rate stayed a lot of times in the 80s, my heartrate alwby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
George: Thank you for both of your replies---I couldn't respond last night and only until now, my computer, T.V. and phone were all out.
