I eat mostly my own home cooked foods, so the only salt that I get is what I myself use, no packaged foods. Actually, my Holistic doctor says we need salt, the right kind of salt, sea salt. My sodium blood content is good. I eat a lot of fruits and veggies, good protein, do not eat cookies, cakes etc. My BP is not low however, it usually is anywhere in the 130-150 range (Systolic), it has beeby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Doctors make money on people coming in for their heart meds, the visit isn't cheap. Three heart meds that have been recalled, Valsartan, Losartan and Irbesartan. I don't see why a person that is in their 70s and on should have such low blood pressure, the older you get your arteries get stiffer so your pressure will be higher. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Colindo: I sometime wonder about Magnesium, I take Mag. Bisglycinate pwd. I put a teaspoon in some water and drink it about an hour before bed. I have been getting sort of a sick feeling in my stomach almost like I would like to throw up but don't. It has helped with pacs, not sure if it really helps with AF. I can't take more then that 1 teaspoon, 1 t. equals 250 mg. my blood vaby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
When I went to the ER last year they did an EKG and said no AF but they didn't know if it was flutter. What I have now is the same thing as last year. I have a pacemaker, I am going to send in a reading. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I got an episode of AF early Tues. morning at 2:00 a.m. it was mild, when resting the beat is ok, but when moving around it appears like AF. Now my heart rate is fast around 95 BPM, it is steady but fast. The funny thing a year ago in Jan. 2018 I got the same thing a couple of times, at that time I went to the ER and they said it wasn't AF it lasted around 3 days at that time., I still amby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Joe: I think for you and for me having thyroid problems, if our thyroid hormones aren't in a good place, we can get episodes of AF. I wish we could have something that we can use to check our thyroid hormone like diabetics do That was a good article that you posted. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
On the webmed site there are a lot of good things said about licorice. But also be aware that there are also some not so good things. I was always told not to take licorice because it raises heart rate, caffine does the same thing to me. Heart disease: Licorice can cause the body to store water, and this can make congestive heart failure worse. Licorice can also increase the risk of irregulaby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Joe: Your M.D. is wrong, hypo and hyper both can cause AF, of course Hyper will cause AF more so. What do you take for your thyroid, whatever it is you need to increase it your numbers all indicate it. Sounds like your thyroid problems caused your AF, I was hyper thyroid which caused my AF. Steve: I understand that Vit. D is important to take, especially in the winter. I used to take it, but I get Aura Migraines and there are a few supplements that I finally found that cause them, unfortunately Vit. D. is one of them, so my Vit. D is at the low end, I do eat fish but probably not enough. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM

Kate: Yes, I am out all the time except when it rains, I do not use sunscreen, I live in Michigan so we don't get very much sun in the winter. A long time ago on this site, the founder, Hans Larsen, had a survey as to how many people got more AF episodes in the winter months and most did. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Steve: Very interesting about Parathyroid Hormone, I don't take Ca. supplements and eat very little dairy products , however I do eat some cheese most days, my Parathyroid has been on the high side at times. In 2016 it was 66 lab value 14-64, my Ca has always tested at 9.4, values 8.-10.4, Potassium checks around 4.6. Mag. around 4.2. I havn't paid any attention to HRV, don't quite see why it matters all that much. I did a little reading tonight and read that you can't compare HRV because everyones is different. Bettylou:: Yes, I have been told by a few people that they can't get in to see Dr. B., that is too bad he is a very good doctor. I think what he probably meant was an ablation doesn't stop the errant cells causing the afib from firing. It just prevents those signals from going anywhere. I'm sure the cells in my PVs are blazing away with random, afib-inducing signals at this moment, along with some cells in the posterior wall, my coronary sinus, and my LAA. But they're all encircled by dead scar tissue now, wby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
More than electrolytes-----there are many, many people that have bad diets, low electrolytes and do not get AF. It is DNA, I got my AF from my mother, my two brothers didn't get AF, one brother had a different father, the other just got better DNA. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
They all sell books and supplements, I go to Dr. David Brownstein in West Bloomfield Mich, he is a great Holistic doctor but he too sells vitamins and books. So, I wouldn't put Stephen Sinatra down for selling vitamins. I have never heard of Dr. Kahn, he is not too far from where I live. Is it probable that remodeling occurs less frequent in people that when in AF their heart rate does not go very high, stays in the 70s and 80s (which mine does).
