There have been several people on this board that have gotten a stroke while taking an anticoagulant, that is only this board what about the general population? I know a couple of people that have had a stroke and they do not have AF, their stroke was minor as well. Lby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
You can get Taurine from food: Taurine is an amino acid that can be made in your body from two other amino acids: cysteine and methionine. Adequate amounts of taurine can usually be obtained from animal and fish protein, eggs and brewer's yeast (NOTE: if you have a viral or fungal infection, eating brewer's yeast can cause allergic reactionsby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quotesmackman I have stopped Pradaxa cold turkey and Eliquis cold Turkey. No issues at all. I actually swapped from Xarelto to Eliquis without issue. Smackman you were on this board when a person wrote about having a stroke when he switched from Xarelto to Eliquis, so it can happen, maybe you are just lucky. I can't remember who this person was but he hasn't posted since that time,by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie: I read your UrL on Eliquis, that must be one of the most horrible drugs on the market and you have to pay big bucks for it. I don't know what the answer is, seems to me if you can take Coumadin that would be much better. I couldn't take even Coumadin, it did cause bleeding for me, I don't care what has been said here that AC don't cause bleeding. However, I too hby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
It has been around 2 and a 1/2 weeks since I have been taking this mag. supplement, it is indeed very calming also easy on the stomach, some Mag. supplements gave me cramps. It is the best mag. supplement I have ever taken, I recommend it. Lizby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
If Pradaxa can burn a hole in your esophagus what is it doing to the rest of your body?by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey have you read the ASSERT 2 trial? Moreover, ASSERT 2 "substantially weakens the case that subclinical AF detected after stroke is linked to causality," he said.by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
So why does stopping an anticoagulant causes bleeding to cease? Oh well, believe what you want and so will I.by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
In the article that George has given a link to has this about anticoagulants: The trials involving dabigatran and apixaban were stopped early because of increased bleeding rates. Carey says anticoagulants don't cause bleeding?by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I would like to see where 5 min. of AF can cause a clot also who is putting that out. My Holistic doctor says I am not in AF long enough to cause a clot and I am in AF longer than 5 min. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey said: Add that to the fact that anticoagulants do not cause bleeding. They will prolong bleeding caused by something else, but they do not cause it" I took Coumadin for a few weeks and got bloodshot eyes never had anything like that before taking Coumadin, had to stop the Coumadin, my mother was on Coumadin for a few years, she had internal bleeding, she had black, tarry stooby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM

Jackie: 350 mg. per teaspoon, it is relaxing and says it helps one to fall asleep, which it did. Yes the product is from Garden of Life. Lizby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Quotebolimasa ....is paroxysmal AF more uncomfortable than chronic AF? Does P-AF run a higher risk for stroke than chronic AF? How frequent should one experience P-AF before deciding on an ablation? I was diagnosed in May, and had an ablation on Monday. From what I could tell from looking at the literature, AFib usually gets worse, not better, it will eventually damage your heart, itby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Saw that but why is appl shares taking a dip, the watch sounds pretty good. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I went to my local health food store looking for Magnesium Glycinate in powder form, can't take those big tabs., they did not have it. They did however have Magnesium in powder form by Dr. Perlmutter the ingredients are Ionic Magnesium fizz blend, Mag. Carbonate and sodium carbonate, Organic brown rice Magnesium Chelate and a few other ingredients. I bought it, took it last night slept vby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Cal. is a no no on this board, I see a Holistic doc. twice a year, Dr. Brownstein. he has written a number of books one of which is "Overcoming Arthritis" he names some of the minerals that is needed and he includes Calcium, he says Calcium is essential to maintain the structural integrity of the body, it is a vital component of strong bones and teeth. Inadequate calcium intake is assby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lindy: The following is taken from the black box, it does say if "you have a history of difficult or repeated epidural or spinal punctures" Spinal or epidural blood clots (hematoma). People who take ELIQUIS, and have medicine injected into their spinal and epidural area, or have a spinal puncture have a risk of forming a blood clot that can cause long-term or permanent loss of theby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quotejpeters Grapefruit juice interacts with a lot of medications. Do your research. If I take my car to a mechanic, I expect him to know what is wrong and how to fix it, he will give further instructions if needed, I guess according to you doctors are exempt. If they prescribe a drug they should be aware of any interactions and tell you. I do my research because doctors unfortunately donby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Was the recall of Hismanal and Seldane another slip up of drugs that were prescribed. I take Rythmol once at night, no doctor ever told me that there could be an interaction between Rythmol and grapefruit juice. There can be interaction between Coumadin and Rythmol as well, drugs are not benign. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
jpeters said: On the other hand, I'm happy to be living in an era where the standards are so high that a slip up like this is considered so outrageous} My response to you was because of the above statement which turns out to be not completely true---you are going off in a tangent about flavored water with supplements which has nothing to do with the above statement. lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quotejpeters On the other hand, I'm happy to be living in an era where the standards are so high that a slip up like this is considered so outrageous. Oh really? What about aspartame which is in diet drinks pushed through by Donald Rumsfeld. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quotejpeters Only when they're ingested via a balanced diet. Never as supplements, or even concentrated green drinks. When that's the case, see them as medicine. Well, I would rather see supplements as medicine than that poison the doctors hand out. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Beardman: You bet diet is very important, actually salt is necessary as well. Sea salt is what you should take as it has minerals. People do not feel well when sodium levels are lowered, their energy level drops and they develop hormonal and immune system imbalances. I also take magnesium, not a lot, but some everyday, years ago I used to have pacs which mag. stopped. Most doctors donby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
This clip doesn't give any cases as to what happened and with what device, mostly just a scare tactic. If certain devices have done harm lets hear about it, I have a device, a pacemaker, I have read that some patients with pacers do have problems. I believe that my pacemaker, which for some ungodly reason was set to pace me at 80 bmp, and I also am quite sure that this setting caused me toby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Did both of you listen to this alzheimers and dementia summit, was it informative. I have learned that my brother has been diagnosed with dementia, he had a stroke about 3 years ago and that is when his memory started to get fuzzy, it is sad. Lizby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Victoria: I am so sorry about your kidney problems, it isn't enough that "doctors mean well", they shouldn't be doctors if they aren't doing their job. My stepson is dead because of a doctor, he said my stepson had a tumor and operated, my stepson had a cyst and it burst, went throughout his body he got septis and died. That did not have to happen, I don't trustby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sorry, I read all the answers, I found nothing offensive, I don't understand Graces responses. I have had AF episodes off and on for almost 20 years, I have had differences of opinion with some on this site but I figure they have as much right to their beliefs as do I. There is a lot to learn if one is to either take a drug or a supplement, I take a baby aspirin everyday. After reading about the great benefits of natto or Lumbrokinase, I was going to run it by my Holistic doc but after reading about natto in the URL that Dean supplied, I have second thoughts after the following: is one report of a patient concurrently using aspirin and NK (400 mg daily), exby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
jepters said: Healthy lifestyle is always basic, and best pursued BEFORE problems arise. In the case of AFIB, it's probably a good idea to find a great EP and take their suggestions. Age and genetics can play a factor. More to it than that, I have a Holistic doc. who has had and does have a very healthy lifestyle, yet he has gotten an episode of AF. It is genetics plain and simple, Iby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
