Researcher: I have a pacemaker put in the year 1998, I had a first degree heart block caused by taking a beta blocker. It is mainly for when I convert to sinus rhythm from an AF episode, before the pacer my heart rate would almost flat line, it is set at the low of 50. I don't use it very much as the batteries lasted until about 4 years ago, that is about 15 years of battery life. &qby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
May I ask what the maintenance risk is on pacemakers?by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey: (Yes, I'm on Eliquis. I've also been on Pradaxa in the past. After two weeks I doubt the Coumadin had anything to do with your nose bleed and coughing up clots. And, btw, coughing up blood clots is a serious matter. It should be considered an emergency until proven otherwise and a 911 call wouldn't be unreasonable at all.) I don't agree, Coumadin did have everyby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Joe: Yes, Fluoride is one of the earths most common compounds, fluoride exist naturally in our drinking water. There is artificial fluorides which are not good. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey: Are you saying that you are on a blood thinner? So many on this site have had ablations and are on blood thinners. The last time I was on Coumadin I had a problem and had to stop, when I stopped, two weeks later I had a slight nose bleed (I never got them) and coughed up some blood clots. My doctor wants me to take Eliquis, he is the one that also wanted me to take amiodrone, I havby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie: I recall that you advocated using an Earthing product, I was on Dr.J. Wright's site and saw this: If you take a pharmaceutical blood thinner, however, do not use any Earthing product until you consult with your physician. There is the potential for excessive blood thinning. You'll need to monitor your INR closely and, with your doctor, consider lowering your medication dosby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie: My heart rate is back to normal today (64). I must still be hypo because even when an increase in meds, it isn't felt until around 5 or 7 days from the increase so my heartrate wasn't because of my thyroid. I am feeling more like myself today, I am not getting winded when I do my work. It took only a few days from stopping the collagen. I started taking the collagen at thby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
George: I meant no disrespect, I think very highly of what you post, I just have a peculiar sense of humor. It just struck me funny that you were eating leaves, I could picture harvesting leaves off a tree. I really knew what you meant and all of those nuts and leaves that you are eating sound great, I too eat many of those. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
George: You obtain your potassium from "leaves and nuts" sorry but I needed a little levity, it just struck me funny, what kind of nut trees do you have. I just never heard of eating leaves. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
More about collagen High Calcium Levels According to MedlinePlus, a website supported by the National Institutes of Health, high calcium levels or hypercalcemia may occur as possible side effects of collagen supplements. Collagen tablets that come from marine sources, such as shark cartilage and shell fish, contain high amounts of calcium, which can significantly raise the calcium levels ofby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Jackie: Mostly there are good things about collagen but if it causes an increase in calcium that isn't good: "All in all, consuming collagen is viewed as safe. However, as a result of taking collagen supplements, individuals may develop a condition called hypercalcemia, in which the body accumulates potentially dangerously high levels of calcium. This is especially so for collagenby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
I have something to add to what I have said here. I stopped taking the Collagen, I believe it is making me very sick---I have been having a fast heartbeat the last 5 days, the last two months I have been getting more AF, had a EKG run heart is ok, thyroid has become hypo. I am very tried, fast heartbeat and just feeling not good. I have been reading that Collagen can increase the calcium in yoby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Well, well, well, I try to do things to help myself and maybe end up making things worse. I just have had my TSH checked and is at 7.4 which makes me hypo, I have been taking the same dose of thyroid hormone for years and have been fine. Now all of a sudden these last couple of months I have been feeling more tried and especially now, I read an article that might explain why this is happeningby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Jackie: I have an appt. with a different doctor, a woman, at the end of the month. I have found out that I am hypo, that is why I was feeling so tried, I thought the feeling was because of my fast heartbeat. I thought I was hyper but I am hypo, I didn't think that being hypo would cause my fast heartbeat, did it affect you that way? Lizby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
George: I realize a pacemaker won't prevent AF (I sure do), he was saying that the monitor wouldn't show AF because of my pacemaker, actually, I don't know what he was talking about, I didn't pursue it, it wasn't worth it as I was glad that my EKG was ok. It appeared to me that the nurses were smarter than this doctor. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Since Thrusday A.M. I started getting a high heart rate, I always have the rate around 64, now my heart rate was in the high 80s and the 90s. The rate wasn't going down and I was feeling quite tried, the rate was regular but fast so I thought I might be having a new arrhythmia. No doctor offices open so I went to the hospital because I needed an EKG run. A EKG was run and other tests andby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you Carey, I will never take it, I am surprised at the doctor. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie: I went yesterday to get a test for my thyroid, my old doc has retired and I got this new guy, He wrote the script for the test and it was only for TSH, I told the girl that I wanted the Free T4, T3 also, she went to the doctor and he refused he said all he needed was TSH, I have never had any doctor do this. I gave the girl back the script and said No, she wrote something on the scriby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
I saw my EP Wednesday, talked to him for quite a while. Apparently the data that I send in to the pacer clinic can't be distinguished between AF and flutter, they just say it is AF. During an episode I go in and out of it, I know when I sit my heartrate is normal but when I walk around it does jump around then. I think they just put it down to AF, period. My doctor wants me to go on Amby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie: But the Buccal smear test does not measure the active, free magnesium ions, so to what extent does that hurt the testing? I would imagine that in a spaceship it would be more awkward to draw blood than to scrape some cells from your mouth. Dr. Brownstein only said to me that he found the exatest not reliable, to me there was nothing more to say. Lizby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Yes diet is extremely important but so is genetics I have known people that ate a very good diet, exercised, did all the right things yet they got cancer, or some other disease. I have a Holistic doctor that does all the right things, yet he got an episode of AF while he was exercising, why? I know other people that smoke, drink, don't eat all that well, they have no AF and are pretty heaby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Catherine: Your food sounds very good, I however would have to have some meat like chicken, fish, eggs a little beef. I could not exist on just nuts, seeds, and beans for my protein, that doesn't give me enough energy. I do raise my own vegetables, berries and fruit. In the winter months I do have to buy my fruit, I have lots of veggies either frozen or in my root cellar. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I take Pure Hydrolyzed Collagen, a scoopful in either water or juice, it is from SportsResearch. Sportsresearch.com I wanted it because I thought it would help my muscles and bones, I do a lot of physical work and it helps. It is grass fed, bovine with amino acids. I know that most on here believe in the exatest, Dr Brownstein does not: I happened to run across this article, Are There Tests to Prove Magnesium Deficiency? Although "total serum (blood) magnesium testing" and "red and white blood cell magnesium testing" can be used, these tests are not completely accurate as they do not measure the amount of magnesium held in otherby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Tibbar: There is a hospital in CA.that has the capability to do an MRI for patients that have a pacemaker, I forgot the name, its like Skripps maybe someone here might recognize the name. If they are able to do an MIR on a person with a pacer, hopefully more facilities will be able to. I also get my pacer checked every 6 months and quarterly send it in by phone. My pacer is a St. Judes, aby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Catherine: Perhaps you are getting too much Potassium, that could give you some palps. I too eat a lot of fruits and veggies but I cannot take any Potassium supplements or your v8 juice which does contain quite a bit of potassium. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I spoke to a pacemaker event nurse today. I am trying to find out if I have flutter or AF or what, the person said that I go in and out of rhythm, there can be long pauses between them, I know that when I sit down my rhythm is in NSR but when I move around it goes into AF rhythm. That is what the person said as well, he said that my Ventricular rate doesn't go that high in AF only to arounby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tibbar: Don't you go 2 or3 times a year to a pacemaker clinic where they test your pacer and they know how much battery life you have left? What kind of pacer do you have? lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
tibbar: You said that your pacemaker dies in 2012, is that a typo? If it dies in 2012 than it is already gone. I had a pacemaker implanted in about 1998, when I had AF and going back into NSR I would almost black out, it was caught when I was in my doctors office. My heartrate dropped to almost a flat line for a few seconds. I am glad I have the pacer as I no longer have any problems aboutby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you to everyone that has responded to my post. It is strange but the months of Aug., Sept. and 1/2 of Oct. I didn't have any episodes of AF, now the last few months my episodes have increased to once a week, never had this amount of episodes. As I noted I used to know when I went into NSR, now I am not as sure. I do believe I am in NSR now the beat isn't as fast and is very reguby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
