Libby: My last Nuclear scan was 2 years ago, everything was good, I do have a one degree heart block which was due years ago from taking a beta blocker, taking it wiped me out. I trusted my doctor at that time, I will never take that drug again. I have episodes of AF once every two months or so I am not in AF all the time. I have had AF since around 1998 which was due to too much thyroid hoby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wolfpack: My mother was taking a heart med. and had to take potassium with it---we changed her heart med to a drug that did not leach potassium so the potassium med was stopped. I was the one that took care of her meds., I was then going to Florida to visit my daughter and told my sister in law about the change in meds., well, for some reason when she put my mothers meds together in her pillby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Libby: Yep, you can with Potassium, too much of that electrolyte can kill you. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
George and Jackie: Thank you for the clarification, it appears that people will probably have more than one ablation, then may have to be on lifelong blood thinners. I would think then that people who have AF and it doesn't appear to bother them and are on blood thinners then for them why go through ablations. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey: I have been on this site for many years and have noticed that most people need a second and sometimes third Ablation, even if they had Dr. Natale do them. You also stated that after your first ablation and succeeding ones you went into flutter, you don't say that you had that problem before your ablation so the ablation brought that malady on? I would think that after an ablatiby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey: What do you think caused you to have AF? I do know what caused my first AF episode, I take synthroid (thyroid med) an increase in the med caused the episode, it seems that the heart remembers and over the years I started getting more of them. I have had AF episodes off and on for 20 years, i sometimes can go 2 or 3 months without an episode then it happens. Right now I haven'tby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey: You said that you had 6 ablations--- that is a lot didn't you do your scientific homework? Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Too many people are having problems, for me, this noise that has been waking me is driving me crazy. I am going to have an analog meter exchanged for this "smart" meter. I have to pay for the exhange and pay a fee every month but it will be well worth it to stop the noise. This noise started a few months after the "smart meter" was put on my house, I have lived in this housby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey: For your reading pleasure: Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey and Gagheld: Mercola is right on this one, there is a lot of stuff on the net about these meters. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
The guy from pest control heard it as well, twice, he said he would be available to say so as well. He did tell me that these meters can and have caused fires. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie: A smart meter was installed on the corner of my house, where all the other services are. My bedroom is on that side, this meter was installed about 7 months ago, the last two months I have been hearing a noise that sounds like purring or snoring, lasts about a minute (or just a little less) it started waking me up, it isn't all the time but off and on throughout the day and nightby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lynn: My Holistic doctor recommended that I take Iodoral which i did for quite a number of years and felt great. I quit taking it a few years ago because I started getting some hives. One of the women in my doctors office told me that she couldn't take Iodoral but that she could take Lugols Iodine without any problems, so you might consider it. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lynn: Yes, Iodoral is what i took a few years back, my Holistic Doc. recommended it. My T3 is on the lower end of the scale, T4 is ok, too much t3 can make you hyper and can cause AF, so I watch it. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lynn: Sorry no one has responded to your post---you could take an Iodine supplement to raise your T3. I have taken Synthroid since I was diagnosed with Graves disease and had my thyroid nuked. Some people cannot convert T4 to T3, that may be your problem because your TSH is good and your T4 is a little too high. If you try taking iodine start slowly. If your thyroid is out of whack, iby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey: I am Vagal, only get AF at night when resting---I have taken Propafenone (150mg.) every night before bed for about 14 years, my EP has never had me take a AV nodal blocking agent. I have never had any problems such as you have had, perhaps it is because I take a small amount. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Davros: Have you had your Potassium level run to know what it is? My Potassium is usually at the high end of the lab scale, at one time I tried taking Potassium supplement as most seem to take it on this board, well for me that was not good. I started getting small runs of AF, I quit the supplement and those runs went away. I wouldn't take a Potassium supplement until I know what my blby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
starwarsfan: Yes indeed, we are all different. I don't take Vit. D as I am outside most everday, of course in the winter it is hard to get any sun. I have a problem with some supplements as some of them will give me aura migraines which Nattokinase most definitely does to me, Natto is in K-2 so I don't take that anymore. My Holistic doctor doesn't seem to have a problemby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
"Dr. Perlmutter's treatment successes stand on their own merit as testimonials from patients who have benefited" Well that isn't true Jackie, there are stories to the contrary one of which I have posted. Greg Killmaster • 9 months ago I followed Grain Brain and Brain Maker as a basis for my diet. I lost 30 pounds and felt great for a year. My weight never goes much aby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Carey: I have been saying that for years, I too believe that our genes are mainly to blame for our AF., my mother had AF. I know many people that are overweight, smoke, bad diets they don't take Mag. or Potassium, yet they do not have AF. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes, we read on here about those supplements that are helpful, but for me, I cannot take a lot of those supplements . I get Aura Migraines from some of them, a Potassium supplement will give me runs of AF. I do eat a lot of fruits and vegetables which I raise so maybe I don't need some of those supplements. There are blood tests that we can take that will show what we are deficient in.by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I wouldn't cite dr. Permutter, very few people have gluten problems: The basic premise of Grain Brain doesn’t fit with the current neurological literature: The latest reviews of evidence-based dietary approaches to preventing Alzheimer’s support a Mediterranean-style diet, complete with whole grains. Nevertheless, Perlmutter describes the science of Grain Brain as “undeniably conclusive.”by Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Well too late for me for me now. I am not pacer dependent, I had issues when going back from an AF episode into NSR my heartrate would drop to almost a flatline for a few seconds. With the pacer which is set at 50 my heartrate no longer can do that Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Really: I have raised bushels of tomatoes over the years and eaten them raw, made into juice and sauce. They provide Vit. C and potassium. I am 83 and work harder than most women half my age, my mother ate potatoes everyday of her life, she lived to 92, potatoes sustained the Irish until the fammie. Dr. Gundry can go fly a kite, he does sell very expensive vitamins, don't all of theseby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Jackie: Yes, I have his book. I used to take Iodoral 12.5 mg. for about 3 or 4 years until I started getting hives so I stopped. I looked back over copies of my blood work (I keep all of them) and I saw that I have gone up and down with my TSH values over the years all on the same dose of thyroid meds, free T3 and free T4 remain about the same. I understand that I live in the goiter beltby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Has anybody here have a pacemaker from St. Jude, if so, you might be interested in the following, rather scary. Jackie: I am a little confused, you said your thyroid issues is caused by low Iodine, I recall you saying that you took Armour thyroid meds why would you take that for low iodine? Since my thyroid is nuked, technically I no longer have an autoimmune thyroid problem, but I still avoid Soy. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I would rather be safe than sorry, so I will avoid anything with soy. Soy interferes with the uptake of the thyroid hormone. I remembered that years ago when I was in my 20s and 30s, I took a Lecithin powder which I mixed with juice, I did this for a number of years. I wonder if that might have led to my problems with my thyroid, we have to make sure what we are taking is not also harming usby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie: I was very interested in the Lipo C, but when I read the ingredients Soy Lecithin was listed, 1,000 mg. Well, that lets Lipo C out for me, Soy is a no no for people with Thyroid problems. I know you have some thyroid issues as well, I am surprised that you don't have any problems with it. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
