Tom Thanks I will check it out and try it---I am quitting benadryl I think it might be causing some episodes of AF. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon: I have not ever read anything that the beginning of detectable plaque/ arteriosclerosis begins from 'as low at 2.1 TSH. Are you saying that If my TSH is usually 2.5 ( which it has been) then plaque/arteriosclerosis has been cooking in my body? I agree that TSH is not the only indicator, free t3 and free t4 are very important. So, if my free t3 and free t4 are very good and mby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon: Your statement of " the ideal TSH levels range from 0.4 to 1.0. even TSH levels as relatively low as 2.1 and higher are increasingly associated with increased arterial plaque and arteriosclerosis" is perplexing. You are saying that TSh levels above 1.00 are associated with aterial plaque and arteriosclerosis, where is that coming from. i have had to increase my thyroiby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
George: I am vagal, I have always gotten my episodes in the late evening or in the early a.M. unless I am changing because lately I have gotten some episodes after waking up, so I am wondering if taking the benadryl might be causing it. I read the article that you posted, I vaguely remember the guy using the PB but in an update he no longer uses it. I don't want to use it, too muchby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have been checking blogs about benadryl and AF, I havn't taken any benadryl for a few weeks but I thought perhaps I could take one or two a week to help open my nasal passages also it helps me to sleep. Well last night when I awoke (after a few hours of sleep) I took a benadryl and went back to sleep. . When i woke up I was in AF, maybe a conicidence but I started doing some digging.by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Starwarsfan I can relate----i too have had sleep problems for a number of years. I have taken Benadryl at night which helps me, also i have taken Ativan it too helps me. I take the smallest amount possible, but I have been reading that these pills can cause brain decline so I am trying to find some natural methods and get off these pills. I take magnesium before bed, might help a little.by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon; Are you talking about Xyzol? Claritin, Benadryl and Xyzol are all antihistamines, benadryl works for me and it also helps me to sleep. I was just concerned about the brain fog that these drugs might cause, I will drop the dosage to only a couple of tabs a week. I am coming to the conclusion that they really don't know what causes a lot of things, too much is bad but a small aby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Hi: Does anyone here take benadryl or a like product? I have read that taking benadryl can cause alzhemiers (sp), I have taken benadryl off and on for years. A lot of times I have problems breathing through my nose, my eyes water and I get a little headache in other words I have allergies, benadryl opens it all up and I feel good. Now reading this about benadryl concerns me, i thought if iby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
I have always tested a little high on my BUN test, about 6 months ago I tested over over the BUN. My doctor told me to drink more water, which I know I don't drink enough of, I did start to drink more water and the next time I had the test my BUN went back to the high normal. My doc. never said anything about high protein he seems to believe that lack of water is the culprit, at least forby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Rhonda: Yes, I have a pacemaker, it was implanted originally about 15 years ago, actually the first one was, the second one was implanted about 4 years ago. I do not use it very much it is there mostly for emergency when I have an episode of AF and then go back into NSR my heart takes a dive, when that happened to me before the pacer I would almost black out. My pacer is set at 50 so my hearby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
karen: I don't understand why you cannot either get your thyroid zapped or else have surgery to remove most of your thyroid. it is very hard on your body, heart to have an over active thyroid. I don't get why having eye problems because of your Graves disease stops you from having your thyroid gland taken care of. Karen: I don't understand your comment that Graves disease took away part of your life and your love of sports etc.. I had Graves disease a long time ago, but had my thyroid zapped. Afterwards I played golf, did a lot of hard work in my big garden, berries and fruit trees, I canned and froze my produce, that is a lot of work. Karen: Yes indeed your Graves has everything to do with your AF episode. I had Graves disease a long time ago and I had my thyroid nuked by Radiation, it destroyed a lot of my thyroid but I still had some thyroid left. I did become hypo and had to take a thyroid med, I was good for a number of years then felt a little tried so i increased my thyroid meds and I went into a fast, flip flop ofby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
George: My holistic doctor runs the RBC test for magnesium, he said he tried the exatest and found it unreliable, so who do you believe. I would say if your RBC test is good you should be ok and if it runs low than no doubt you are. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Barry: Ok, here is my two cents worth: I go to a Holistic doctor and some years ago I was taking Iodoral (12.5 mg.) a day, I took that amount for approximately 4 years. I felt good, but it didn't stop my AF, at that time i probably got an episode of AF once every couple of months, so it didn't stop my AF. I had to stop taking Iodoral because I got hives from it. Of course an ablation is an invasive surgery, they have to thread a catheter through a vein into the heart. A lot of people have had an ablation and are fine, but anytime there is surgery, especially on the heart there can be problems. I live in Michigan and about 4 years ago a man (he was a doctor) died because of an ablation at U. of Michigan University hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Lby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM

I am taking vit. K-2, MK-7, 100mcg., the reason I stopped for a while was because when I asked Dr. B. about getting the supplement, he said he hasn't found a good one, well that rather struck me, I thought well why should I take one. Lizby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
I was at my heart doctor a few days ago for my bi-yearly checkup, I had mentioned that a lady my daughter knows has had 4 ablations (the 4th being about a month ago. I found this article in my search about AF. One million Brits suffer from AF. Apparently, scientists have invented a non-invasive method to pinpoint the electrical "storm waves" which trigger AFib. Surgeons currently have to insert a catheter to try to find them and the method is not effective. Bill Paxton died today, 61 years of age. The article said that he died from complications of heart surgery, he died from a stoke. I don't know what his surgery was for.
