Amy: It also depends on the Lab values, tsh is usually 0.40-4.50, so your tsh is within the lab scale. T4 -- my lab values are 0.8-1.8 so either your lab values are a lot different than mine or your T4 is high. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
BEIJING — Fear of mortality is one reason Americans spend so much on “antioxidant” products, including Vitamin C supplements and beta-carotene, which promise a longer healthier life. According to the National Institutes of Health, more than half of adults in the U.S. consume some kind of antioxidant product, spending $37 billion each year. Shannon: Okay, I will wait until tomorrow---I just couldn't understand why i was getting numbers from IHerb to plug in and none of them worked. Thanks Shannon Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Off topic I have tried and tried to purchase a couple of items from IHerb, I have forgotten my password, I was sent numbers to plug in and none of them work. Very frustrating I have tried to contact for support, no go, so what do I do? Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Amyorca: Jackie is of course correct. However, there are times when no matter what I think might be my triggers I don't get AF, then I will get AF when i have my trigger. The triggers don't always give me AF but when I get AF it is because of my trigger. So, AF is a very confusing malady, I say eat good food and if possible make it all yourself. I like Chinese food as well but Iby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon: Sorry that your wife had to experience AF---that is how I got to know AF, feeling a little tried I increased my thyroid meds then one day my heart started flip flopping and sped up, I went to the doctor and he said I was in AF, I did convert on my own, didn't take too long. I was fine for a number of months but it caught me again, throughout the years I maybe would go into AF onby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Armour has more T3, so it will increase your T3 which can cause a fast heartbeat and palps. I had Graves disease and had my thyroid nuked, I have been on Synthroid since then. At one time I was feeling a little tried and increased my Synthroid that led to my getting AF. You have to be very careful with Thyroid meds, I never play around with the dosage, I get my T4, T3 and TSH checked before anby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have posted some of the foods that are rich in magnesium (it is always best to get your minerals from food): Beans, Nuts, whole grains, brown rice, whole wheat bread, green leafy veggies like Spinach, chard, pumpkin seeds, yogurt, almonds, black beans, figs, dark choc., bananas, salmon, cashews and goat cheese. The magnesium you take should be either Magnesium chelate, magnesium citrateby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
First off, i do take Magnesium but only about 400mg/day, also I take it in a powder form that includes vit. C. For myself i wouldn't take more than the 400mg., i found the following that does speak to some people having problems with Magnesium: Signs and Symptoms of Too Much Magnesium by MATTHEW BUSSE Last Updated: Apr 13, 2015 Signs and Symptoms of Too Much Magnesium Asby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Alex: You can also get a PH water bottle, this water bottle has a filter and is able to raise the PH, I got two of the water bottles for my daughter and grand daughter, called Seychelle PH water bottle. FACT: Elevates pH level in water to 8.0-9.5. FACT: Filters out offensive tastes, odors, chlorine, silt, sand, and chemicals such as pesticides. FACT: Removes harmful metals such aby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie: The bio-cell sounds good to me, I was interested in a collagen formula, i will try that. Doesn't sound like mushrooms are very good for providing vit. D. i have always been a little low in vit. D, I am outdoors a lot in the Spring, Summer and fall months so I should get adequate amounts of vit. D. Jackie: Thank you for your response. Probably both---Joint cartilage and bone support, when I sit a while then get up, I am a little achy but once moving I am ok. As for 25-OH, I just had that test done a few weeks ago, I am at 43, lab values 30-100. The problem is I have gotten Aura migraines from fish oil, Dr. Brownstein tells me he has found that migraines clear up when the thyroid is okby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Shannon: This holistic doctor is in the Orlando area, he has written a number of books his last one is "let food be your medicine" People come from all over to see him. He believes in the modified Mediterranean diet, I was surprised when my daughter told me about the tools he is using and it seemed to me to be rather strange. His name is Dr. Don Colbert perhaps some on here mightby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
George: I know you take a lot of magnesium and it has stopped your Afib, I also believe it is very individual. I do take mag but only around 400 mg./day, i can't take any more than that. I do eat meat, nuts, foods which have magnesium. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
My daughter goes to a Holistic doctor in Florida. They were talking about Magnesium, my daughter used the spray mag. a few years ago she said that she was using it morning and night, one morning she awoke and could hardly make it down the stairs she was dizzy and nauseous and didn't feel too well that day. She stopped using the mag. everyday, just once in a while when she had her toes kinkby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie: I know you spoke about this subject before, I have read about a couple of supplements that you posted about. Which of these do you take, I am thinking of ordering Arthoben, the other one you listed is very expensive. Lizby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Jackie: Thank you for the links, i realize we are surrounded by all of these modern inventions and we cannot escape them. My point was if anyone has ever used these steel cages that can be put over the meters the site claims they are 97% effective. Lizby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Tom: I have problems with CoQ as well, it gives me aura Migraines, I don't take it. It may be good for you but if it causes problems than it isn't. Lby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
You need to get the right salt, Celtic sea salt not the table salt you get in the supermarkets. My Holistic doctor always tells me I need more salt from my blood work. I don't eat processed foods so just about the only salt I get is what I put on my food. A modified Mediterranean diet----good protein, beans, lots of veggies and berries, fruit and Magnesium helps me a lot to keep palps aby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
My gas company put two smart meters on my electrical and gas meters, they are on the outside wall of my bedroom. I am concerned about the EMF they may be emitting. I have read about a cage to block the EMF, the cage is made of steel and is put over the meter, it is supposed to be about 95% effective. As anyone heard of this, their website is www.smartmeterguard.com. Lizby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Jackie: Happy New Year. I may still have a functional thyroid, albeit small, I have taken 125 mcgs. of Synthroid for most of the years since my thyroid was nuked. I think I would probably have to take a greater amount of thyroid meds if my thyroid was completely non-functional.. Didn't know that one would not develop thyroid nodules if they did not have a functional thyroid, how abouby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Jackie: Everybody is different, that is for sure---I have been taking 125 mcg. of synthroid since my thyroid was nuked in the early 1990s, I have never had any thyroid nodules from the drug. I will say that I did take Iodoral (iodine) for a few years until I started getting hives. I was told that I could take Lugols by a lady that works for Dr. Brownstein (my doc), she said she couldn'tby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Sam: There are not that many people that are Gluten intolerant. People overdo on eating pastas and breads, I do eat a small amount of whole wheat bread most days, I am not overweight, I have never been fat. I have always been active however and that is what might be wrong with a lot of people, they don't use their muscles. I tend to agree with you anti-fib----I couldn't take Coumadin because it caused blood in my eyes and hands, the AP led me to believe that I should take aspirin, now he is telling me it is useless against blood clots and wanted me to take Aminodorane, I said no. I had to quit taking Coumadin and after a couple of weeks, I coughed up quite a few blood clots and had a nose bleed. That is alby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Nick: Her bP probably wouldn't be as low as she has it now, we don't know. I really don't know why the docs. want older people to have such low BP, what I have read is that those people don't live much longer by having their BP so low. The arteries get stiffer with age so it is only natural that older people would have higher BP. Why don't you talk with her cardioby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wolfpack: By K, I mean Potassium, I just didn't want to spell it all out. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am one person that cannot take K. supplements, I have tried and it gave me short runs of AF, i never got anything like that before, my K is usually at the high end of the Lab scale so I evidently don't need more. My mother was on bP meds and was given a K supplement, she got too much K and had a very bad time, she was taken to the Hospital and they gave her enemas to get rid of the K. Having a garden is not a waste of time, I get good food, exercise, the fence I have is quite strong, I have seen deer come up to it, they nose towards it, get shocked and run away, it works for me. Lby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Smackman: I also live out in the country, there are all kinds of varmints around here, rabbits, possums, deer, coons etc. I put 2 strands of hot wire (electric) all around my garden, I have seen animals come up to the wire and get a shock, they take off and many don't come back, my electrical wire is pretty strong. 3 blood meds, a blood thinner, and you say she was told to stop the Indapamide (diuretic), usually when they take a diuretic they take a potassium supplement as well. Did the lady have high BP before she was given all these drugs?
