I am not new to AFIB, as many of you know, but my AFIB has recently changed in the last 6 months to being Vagaly Mediated. I get PAC's and some hard beats when I lay down at night, or right after exercise, but I never go in AFIB while sleeping. I am getting AFIB, after eating or drinking iced, cold beverages too fast, or frozen foods, or because of indigestion. I have heard that Beta-Bby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
"Won't that cause heart failure? I'm guessing he's taking a rate control drug, but still, his heart is not beating properly, not circulating blood efficiently, and this can't be good. " I am not advocating staying in AFIB, but it should not cause Heart Failure if rate-controlled. It depends on the person, but Cardiac Output is only slightly reduced for some peoplby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey So I have a question: If a patient is in an ER Room or in the Hospital being neglected, the patient can still call 911 for an emergency response from the Paramedics? This is what I should have done. The Nurses said I was fine based on an initial EKG, before I took the 300mg of Flec. 30 minutes later I was deteriorating fast. When I asked for help from the Nurses, they chastisedby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
What you describe there doesn't sound like a good use of flecainide. It's certainly not a PIP approach. If you're taking it for days to achieve conversion, I'm not even sure the flecainide has much to do with the conversion. Would it have happened anyway if you hadn't taken it? I think the answer is quite likely yes. Sitting down with your EP and talking about alternativeby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Not as recent as the other links, but here is another Article with Webcast Videos from Heart Rhythm 2019 If Natale was doing this Shannon would have been talking about it. I have never tried to take a picture of an EKG, but on at least 40 occasions I have asked to either see the EKG, or for my own paper copy of my EKG. Sometimes the Tech's make a 2nd copy right then and just give it to me, but most of the time, they say something like "The Dr. needs to read it first", or that "I need to request this from the Nurse/Doctor". QuoteCarey How much flecainide do you take? And how long does this feeling last? Does it continue even after you convert? When an episode starts, I just start taking Flecainide at 100mg every 8 hours. After several days I can feel the effects more as the blood concentration is rising. Then I switch to 50mg every 4 hours. So at 300mg/day total, and I have never gone over that. I am trying to gby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Is anyone having success using Drugs to Convert out of AFIB? I know many have used Flecainide with some success. How about other Drugs like Propapfenone, Amio or Illbuteride? Specifically I am wondering about how people feel before they convert to NSR. I can often convert using Flecainide, but it causing a sort of drug-induced Heart Failure. QuoteZb3 Has anyone here ever done a steroid cycle of testosterone? I am 28 and my testosterone is only 420 ng/dl and I lift weights 4 times a week and eat healthy, which supposedly boosts testosterone. Given my age and activity I would expect to be much higher. Would like to do a cycle of testosterone but worried about how it may affect Afib. Some studies say steroids are bad for the heart, theyby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteFibrillator I can't imagine exercising in flutter, with a rate of 160BPM to begin with it was all I could do to get through the day. Yes, like I said earlier, when I was at 135-138 HR, I didn't have any extra energy to move around. When I was at the Gym, and exercising on the Elliptical Trainer, I was monitoring my Pulse with a Pulse Oxymeter. I was fine when Fluttering at 47 oby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
I went back into NSR shortly after going to bed last night. I am very relieved. The Flutter rates were 138, 68-70 and 47-48, which correlate with an Atrial Rate of about 276 being conducted through the AV Node at 2:1, 4:1 and 6:1 ratios. While this was going on, I wasn't sure if I was in NSR, or Flutter with the rate of 70, but in retrospect. The rates were solid, not varying, other thanby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Anybody ever had Flutter rates as low as 48? Not sure if I am just in a slow NSR, or Flutter, but it's probably Flutter, as my Resting HR is around 70, although the Rate Control Drugs I took may have slowed it down.by The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Now going back and forth between 48 and 70. 48 for several minutes, then 70 5 minutes later. Pulse is steady and stronger. I need my own EKG machine.by The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Went to the Urgent Care, got an EKG. I have Flutter at either 3:1, or 4:1 ratio. HR was 68. The Printout said 4:1, the Dr. said 3:1. She called ambulance, I refused service.by The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
When I tried walking around n Flutter at 135bpm, I was just exhausted. I think the Flecainide weakened the contractibilty of my Heart. Anyway, I took an extra 60mg short acting Diltiazem to try and slow down the rate, and by the time I got to the Gym, I was mostly in AFIB again with a rate in the 50-80 range. I am having intermittent Flutter at 138/bpm with AFIB at 60-90bpm. Normally I just get AFIB, and with a controlled rate I go about my daily routine including moderate exercise. Tsco: The concern you expressed is valid if a person took a very large dose of T, or of the more potent Anabolic Steriods. I recommend injecting every 4-5 days, verses every 7-10 days. The T breaks down at differing speeds in different people, but most men have too much of a Spike followed by a low point, if going with a longer injection schedule. Barry: Most of the time my HR is like 66-78, but sometimes as high as 90. I don't get lightheaded as a result of the higher HR's. I am sure I am not currently getting flutter. I used to get it when I was on Flecainide about 5-6 years ago. My Flutter was fast and very steady at about 85-88. Was the HR from the ECG at the Hospital also 80? I don't trust BP Machines for accuracy. I think just counting your Heart Beats via checking your Pulse with a finger is probably a better way to measure HR. My resting HR does fluctuate from around 68-90, I don't know why. I don't think there was as much variance when I was younger. Also you could upload your ECG printout onby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
If the symptoms are bad enough yes I would go to the ER, at least to get an EKG, and a diagnosis. Otherwise, you could go into your Dr's Office or some place they can do an EKG, to determine if it is indeed just PAC's. No, I would not go to the ER, if I was just having PAC's. As far as your question of how long it is OK to be in AFIB, there is no exact answer, but there is a rough 48-hour window that it usually takes for a clot to form while the Atria is Fibrillating during AFIB. Anti-Coagulation reduces but does not eliminate Clot/Stroke Risk. The fact that your back in NSR at 24 hours is good news. I agree with the advice given here. If the Sotalol is wiping you out, then the dose is too high, and if I was in this spot, I would cut the dose down to 40mg BID on my own.by The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Look up Ectopic Heart Beats and PAC's (Premature Atrial Contractions). Atrial Bigeminy is when you get a PAC prior to every full HeartBeat. PAC's can run every 2,3,4 or 5 beats and will also vary as in after 2 beats, then 4, then 5, then 2, and so forth. The regularity of the NSR beats are interrupted by the PAC's, which can feel similar to AFIB. Usually the overall HR incby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM

I've ridden the Lightning on many occasions. A low 50J Shock sounds like for Atrial Flutter, not Atrial Fibrillation. The lowest I have ever seen referenced for Conversion of Flutter is 50J.
