Quotetsco Flecainide usually works very well Flecainide does slow the Heart down, but when taken during AFIB, a Beta-Blocker should be Combined with it, otherwise an even more dangerous Arrythmia can develope having to do with High-Speed Atrial Flutter. Flecainide is actually a Anti-Arrythmic Drug, not a Rate-Control Drug, although it does work by slowing down electrical impulses within the Heby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quotewolfpack What is your rate during an episode? Over 100 bpm and I’d say, yes, a PIP beta blocker would be good. Calcium channel blocker is an anti-arrythmic (AAR) medication, and does not do rate control but rather attempts rhythm control. PIP is an option for that as well, but you must discuss with your cardiologist first. I agree, if the HR is elevated, than a Beta-Blocker makes sense. Iby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Some people have used Ginger Root (Herb) as a preventative measure against VM-AFIB. GeorgeN would be the Guy to ask about this, he has VM-AFIB.by The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Battling AFIB can take time. Be patient and make progress. Managing and minimizing AFIB more realistic than totally conquering it. No need to rush for Ablation, but OK to tentatively plan for it.by The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Joe: My EKG's have always been accurate as far as determining NSR or AFIB, but the additional info like your "'Sinus Bradicardia, Borderline first degree A-V Block, rSr' pattern V1 or V2, probable normal variant' " Those sorts of things are not very accurate, I get those all the time, and the Cardio Dr's are not concerned.by The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
I agree with the Advice from Wolfpack. I would add that It's rare that people have been if continuous AFIB for very long, and then months later spontaneously convert out of it. If you are trying to treat it naturally, the conventional wisdom, is to try and figure out what triggers your AFIB, get a game plan to treat moving forward, and then get Cardioverted back to NSR, and hope to maiby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had that sort of thing happened to me. Going along fine for months on end, no worries. Go into the EP Doctor, for a Appointment that had been scheduled for several months (hard to get into see him). Then at the Dr's there is a bit of consternation about how I am handling my situation, and a little bit of frustration on his part, then within the next several days I go into AFIB. QuoteJoyWin Sorry, but when my HR is at 190-200 bpm and chaotic, stopping and starting...my greatest feat is sudden cardiac arrest. The ENGAGE AF-TIMI 48 trial showed a link between AF and sudden cardiac death. Whilst I don’t linger over or become morbidly obsessed about reports (there are so many) it pays to be cautious and give your heart the care it deserves. Yes, The technical term is Tachy-Cardia induced CardioMyopathy. It happens with AFIB, and can lead to Heart Failure. A similar issue happens under Hypoxia conditions involving Sleep Apnea. That's why I asked Grampy about his HR, both at rest, and during exercise. We can't definitively answer his question without that information, although from his description he probably doesn'by The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
The focus of this site has really shifted in the last 7-8 years from trying to abate AFIB through natural or other means toward Ablation. People were more desperately and urgently trying to reverse their AFIB, as Ablaton was not nearly as good of an option. There has been talk of a follow-up to Special Session 61, and it would be a good thing to do, but it may not happen. I tried to track downby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
I concur with Carey's response. The 30% Cardioversion success rate your Dr. quoted you is misleading. Successfull treatment with Anti-Arrythmic Drugs is about 30%. Electrical Cardioversion is successful over 90% of the time, at least initially. People often do go back into AFIB later on. Maybe long-term success from a single Electrocardioversion is only 30%. Still why not try right awaby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Grampy: What is your HR? both at rest, and while exercising? Are you on Medication to control your rate like Beta-Blockers? In general if someones HR in AFIB is controlled close to their normal HR while in NSR, then all they are losing in Cardiac output is about 5% points on their Ejection fraction. If the HR is higher, then Cardiac output goes down because the Ventricles don't filby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
I wonder if any Herbs might be worth trying for someone who can't tolerate the AAM and not ready for Ablation Process. Some have advocated Hawthorne Berry for High BP and AFIB. Not sure what other Herbs might work. Ginger Root has helped people on this site who have Vagal-Mediated AFIB. Sounds like you might be Vagal, if you are only having Episodes at night.by The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM

QuoteJoe I doubt it's a precise Benchmark, but the EP's say that the Ventricular rate has to be over 100 for a duration of more than 24 hours to cause Cardio-Myothapy. When i had the 24 hr monitor my average HR was 120, peaking at >170. My total afib time was about 4 months. Liz said: I would consider an ablation, but now, I read so many people have to have more than one ablation, maybe 3 and their ejection factor can be compromised making them take a blood thinner for the rest of their lives or they get a watchman device, Carey said: Ablations do not lead to reduced ejection fractions, and unless the left atrial appendage is isolated, which is unusual, they doby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
I wouldn't go back to that Cardiologist. I agree with Carey in that he is not up to date with his AFIB knowledge. I wouldn't expect a Cardio to know about the EXA Test, but I would expect he know about, or look into the RBC Mg. Only takes a minute to look up the test at one of the Labs Websites. My first Episode was caused by wearing a Heavy Duty Mask at Work. Not sure if it was from the Anxiety of looking funny, or from restricted air intake, or a combination of both. I stopped wearing it, and never had another Episode for 12 years. Generally, AFIB is too complex for elimination of a Reversible Cause (Trigger) to Permanently stop it. Multiple things are going on to cause AFIB.by The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Nice to hear from you Peggy: could that clot have been still swirling around and dropping off little pieces to jam up some small vessel in my brain at least 5 months later? Opinions, anybody? No, after about 3 weeks, a Clot is absorbed into the surrounding Blood Vessel Wall. No you did not have a Stroke resulting from AFIB an episode 5 months prior. The Cartia is also a Blood Pressure Medication, so it would make sense if your BP is high. I'm taking 240-360 mg/day for high BP. I also take it to control my PAC's which have been acting up lately. "Finally, how do I actually know I am in A fib or flutter?" Just feel your Pulse with your Finger. Flutter is spaced evenly and Rhythmic, and AFIB is Irregular. Maybe go back and discuss options yet again. For me, Mg supplement helped me more than Drugs. Perhaps taking Flec in the Hospital would make sense, if you took it again. Did your Doc say VT or VF?
