Tom - I was diagnosed hypothyroid over 20 years ago and was treated first with Synthroid which didn't work and later, with Armour Thyroid hormone and thyroid support supplements. We keep my TSH around 1.0. You indicate your TSH is between 5 and 10 which would definitely be considered extremely high and require hormone treatment to lower so you don't experience the hypo symptoms... suby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tom C - be cautious with starting with high doses of iodine. Do a search in this forum and the General Health forum on Iodine for the various discussions and cautions stated about dosing. Some people can have bad reactions to high doses and the form of iodine is also important.... we've reviewed this at considerably length. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
For the heart, the L-carnitine can be useful. The Acetyl L is more expensive and while it's excellent for brain support, if your target is heart energy then the L-carnitine works well. Be aware that for some people carnitine can be too stimulating and worsen arrhythmia. It did for me prior to ablation but not afterwards. In the report The Strategy, carnitine use is discussed. McHale - there are studies showing the efficacy of nattokinase for lowering blood viscosity and actually, at one point in time, one or two of the products in Dr. Holsworth's line received FDA approval as a medical food. Nattokinase decreases plasma levels of fibrinogen, factor VII, and factor VIII in human subjects (published in Science Direct). And other studies published in India. The stby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Gregg - they are both important. One measures your ability to methlate properly and the other is a direct measurement of blood viscosity based on the amount of fibrin in your blood. Thick blood tends to clot easier. Very often, people with high homocysteine levels have heart attacks and stroke. It's really criminal that this test is not considered routine. Larry - I used Lovenox as a transition once to warfarin after being hospitalized.... I didn't think it was a big deal to do the self-injection although at first, I admit, it was mostly mental. It's certainly painless and easy. Your suggestion seems reasonable but I haven't researched it currently. At one time, I followed the research of David Berg - then of Hemex laboraties- whby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Gary - for what reason are you looking for a probiotic? If you need to correct a 'gut' issue, then you are better off finding a high-potency population probiotic locally as they need to be refrigerated to retain viability. Check the refrigerated section of your local health food store such as Vitamin Shoppe. An excellent choice for therapeutic treatment of gut issues is one that coby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sheila - "drinking tons of water".... can have a negative efffect in that it flushes out your critical electrolytes.... magnesium and potassium along with sodium. Check Conference Room session 72... the same principles apply to hypertension... and in fact, the science provided by Richard Moore, MD, PhD, biophysics focused on hypertension. Ronny - good news for you to learn your allergies were a trigger. Not at all uncommon that doctors fail to recognize the influence various allergies and sensitivities have on afib, not to mention overall health. By now, I shouldn't be surprised, but I find it totally astounding that this continues to go on..and on...and on.... It would be useful for readers here if you would list your foby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
A complete B complex that includes the bioactive forms of Bs that support lowering homocysteine by improving methylation is known to reduce stroke risk. High HCY is a definite stroke-risk factor. Everyone should know their homocysteine level. Gordon - your GP is not informed about fibrinogen levels because you definitely can reduce a high level with the enzyme nattokinase or similar. I've done it. Call your insurance carrier to verify if they will cover the test. Check out what it might cost to order your own through Life Extension lab services. John - For an explanation, start by reading the Introduction (at least) to CR 72. If you are high in sodium and marginally low or even just borderline low in potassium... the voltage is affected. My post-ablation experiences of breakthrough AF (converted easily PIP) tell me that quite possibly, some of the gap junctions have filled in or re-established. However, if I am very diligent with lowby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hi John - what are you doing to maintain your optimal levels of magnesium and potassium... and are you aware of the importance of keeping potassium and sodium at the correct ratio... 4:1. I found that after 4 years post ablation, I had some outright AF breakthrough activity but with time and tinkering, have learned through Conference Room 72 the reason why. Hidden sodium is everywhere and ifby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Mike - Others have reported they were given a diuretic post-ablation to get rid of the water accumulation from the water-cooled catheter tips. I'd make some noise about your situation... right now. Hello Gordon - How frequently do you have afib events? When was your last ECG and what was your ejection fraction? Are you taking any nutritional supplements that help to support heart energy? Well, actually, cooking meat does change the nature of the health benefits... you still get protein but cooking causes other problems. Proponents of the Raw diet say meat must be eaten raw to gain benefits. The processed, salted, smoked, pickled, preserved meat such as deli meats are yet another story. Tom - I'd think that it depends on where the seaweed grows-- just like plants in soil, seaweed takes up what's in the environment. If arsenic, lead and mercury are in the soil, then it gets into the plant and seaweed would be no different. In addition to what William offers, and specifically for afibbers... seaweed contains a high amount of free glutamate which is excitatory and should be avoided. We learned this from Fran's observations about 8 years or so ago. She could eat freshly harvested seaweed when she walked on the beach but not anything dried or processed. Mike- The rapid ectopy that I experienced post-ablation was diagnosed by telemetry as 'sinus tachycardia'.... it was a series of very rapid beats - like 20 beats or so, a thud and then NSR.
