Hans - this was just a casual interview and no specific dosing was offered . I agree that the typical intake you state would most likely not be adequate for extremely hot weather where additional fluid intake would be flushing out minerals rapidly...along with perspiration, obviously. For years, there has been discussions about hydrating and electrolytes for athletes doing summer training whenby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

ngn - I just posted a tragic story about a death as a result of an injury to a person while on warfarin. You might relay that to your brother so that he can take steps to get off the blood thinner since his events are only very occasional. Most of us don't use warfarin but doctors seem to feel more comfortable prescribing it automatically because having done so, absolves them of blame sby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm posting this true and very tragic story about a classmate of mine who died as a result of a fall while on warfarin. He was 75 and he and his wife had taken two grandchildren camping in to Yosemite. During the night, he went out for a bathroom call but didn't take a flashlight. He fell, face first, hit his head, got up and accomplished the mission. Returned to the tent, bloody anby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jerry - what is the name of the book? I'd love to read it. I'm glad your former abdominal issues are resolved... but you are still having pain, No? So there is obviously something that has been overlooked...or it's the spicy foods... or you need to be gluten free and possibly dairy free as well...or you're manifesting as a result of the PPI the inability to digest food paby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jerry - If you are not completely gluten free... read carefully the recent post... Dangerous Grains ... the intestinal biopsy is only useful if you really do have that stage of Celiac disease... but is not definitive if you are in the stages before that time. Jerry - how about the reference to microscopic colitis in the Dangerous Grains - The Gluten Sensitivity post?... a lot of doctors are unaware of this condition. Did you respond about the diverticulitis potential? Leave no stone unturned. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Gregg - My experience with flecainide was that it may not be as effective if your electrolytes are low. Initially, I took 300 mg flec .. in divided doses for about 4 years and my events went from occasional to daily or every other day for 20 - 24 hours and even longer... with sometimes only 4 hours of NSR between bouts. Often, if you have the diverticular pouches and they become inflammed, there will be the type of pain you mention....and it can be quite severe. An apology to all readers for my being remiss on terminology. There is no excuse other than when I talk about assessing potassium levels, I automatically assume everyone has read about and is aware that we cant isolate potassium as a single, critical electrolyte; but, rather, in the same breath, we must also automatically include, sodium (salt), as well. Steve - my simplistic conclusion is that the overwhelming of magnesium works exactly 'as advertised' to then allow the function of the Na/K ion pumps to facilitate energy and maintain the requisite voltage that maintains NSR. Shannon - that's an important observation, but the problem lies in that because so many people are very low in potassium (due to the lack of eating vegetables and fruit) and overloaded in sodium, there is no chance for the compensatory effect to work.
