Zach - that does seem inexcusable that the first cardiologist couldn't recognize and diagnose correctly from the strip. However, it's not that uncommon unless the cardiologist happens to have a concentration in rhythm disturbances. I found that several of my first cardiologists who thought they knew how to manage atrial fibrillation did not. That's why we typically advise seeingby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Pam - first - I wish you a safe and successful procedure. I find it troubling that there is so little knowledge about non-Rx interactions with Pradaxa so I share your concern. I did take Zyflamend as you mention with no problems when on coumadin. Hi Tom - thanks for posting this...and thanks also to George for finding this testing equipment. It certainly is interesting and seems like a very useful tool... watching the sodium intake and monitoring potassium. Great combination. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Sean - glad to see you are doing so well. I wish you all the best and NSR forever. Enjoy life. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Miriam - the topical or trans-dermal application is covered in that report I referenced. It is very effective and offers another way of bypassing the stomach acid issue. I like the trans-dermal for immediate effect on tired or achy muscles in addition to the Mg glycinate of which I take about 600 mg daily in divided doses. Definitely, you can so a full body soak or foot soak in the Magnesium sby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lisa - the pharmaceutical grade, molecularly distilled fish oil is not "refined" in the true sense of the word but rather extracted in a very gentle manner soas not to destroy the quality of the fish oil. It is odorless until oxidized. Not all brands of Omega 3 fish oil are packaged or bottled with such care. Live fish would not be a comparison because a live fish that lives only subby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Pat - This IS important information... no question. And I can probably tell you in advance what your cardiologist might say but I hope I'm pleasantly surprised. I'll be interested in your report. It's not common that they do recommend the additional CoQ10 or slough it off as not a consideration. Here's another clip of interest. You can keep a copy of this in your pocby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Adrian - Your oil should be not smell fishy or of fish. Just cut one capsule open and express some out - that odor will either be zero or 'fishy'. If the oils remains on your fingers and oxidizes and then has the fishy odor, it has oxidized on your skin as would be expected. Just as if you had left a freshly caught fish to lie around for a while, it begins to become 'fragrant.&by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ken - sounds like a good start. The taste factor will diminish with time. It takes a while to get used to lower salt food but soon, when you do eat something high in salt, it will be very pronounced and you'll actually reject it which probably signals a healthy turning point. One thing you can do to enhance the lack of salt is to put the powdered potassium gluconate product in a shaker anby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Adrian - Are you doing any reading in the current Conference Room? Understanding the importance of the correct Na/K ratio for pump function and voltage optimizing should be a key factor for you at this point in time. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Pat - I would suggest you start reading immediately in the General Health Section (blue box above) and follow the links about anything that says "cholesterol" or "statin" and strongly consider stopping the statin drug right now. Here's a start: Statins can induce cardiomyopathy depending on how quickly they do damage to mitochondria in your body. I presume you werby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Adrian and Lisa... the smell is the key... no fish oil should smell fishy... if it does, then it's rancid or oxidized and should be discarded. It is always best to refrigerate Omega 3 fish oils. Keep the bottles tightly sealed. You absolutely have to open capsules to know for sure and this would include new bottles. They can sit around a long time and become rancid even before you buy tby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gerry, based on the information in the current conference room, I'd think that your Na/K ratio needs to be optimal in order for a cardioversion to be effective and remain that way. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Pat - In addition to Erling's excellent advice, consider that you should be taking the ubiquinol form of Coenzyme Q10 to help with your ejection fraction. Ken regarding the DGL (Deglycyrrhizinated licorice) and Barretts. You can do a Google on those words and learn what you need to know. Also, if you havent been tested for H.pylori, Id definitely do that soon. Since Barretts is a serious condition, youre smart to be in a preventive mode. Good luck with that project. Ken - I agree with Peggy. It really is no challenge to regulate sodium intake: Just choose whole fresh foods. No labels to read. Low enough natural sodium content not to interfere with potassium. Same with consuming whole, fresh foods containing potassium. Its the packaged/ processed foods that will do harm to your health, no matter how closely you look at some online chart. Gerry - I know of no contraindication for taking magnesium with the maxzide but you could ask your pharmacist just to be sure. As for supplementing with potassium, it is suggested not to do that unless under medical supervision; however, you certainly can eat a good diet with plenty of potassium-containing foods... and be very aware of all food-products you eat that are not whole, fresh foodsby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Mike - I'd try the betaine HCl when you eat meals containing protein. Start with 200 mg. You may need more than that but remember if your stomach starts to feel warm or burn, then just drink water to dilute the effect. You don't need it with a vegetarian meal. You can check this label for the digestive enzyme I like... try to duplicate that or just find a product with just the bby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Jack - just to be clear... sotalol (Betapace) is a beta blocker and also does not work well with vagals. I suffered with that drug for 2 years until I found this forum and learned that fact. At the time, it was a favorite initial drug for afibbers here and the first two cardiologists I saw were unaware of the distinction of adrenergic and vagal afib.
