Peter... I don't have much time to respond properly using my borrowed computer out of town today, but I'd seriously think about learning just how important potassium is for maintaining normal heart rhythm. The fact is you need both magnesium and potassium. If you are losing either one, then you're bound to have either ectopy or afib. I'd stop the saunas and regroup by usiby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
James - why did your doctor say not to take magnesium and potassium? Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Deer - Does the flecainide work for you? If so, then I'd think you'd not want to rock the boat in favor of trying something that may not work as well or may react differently with your biochemistry. Are you also using the Essential Trio to help optimize your intracelular electrolyte levels? Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Teri - this is so true... each person has to individualize their dosing requirements. That's why it's always smart to start with low doses and ramp up very gradually so you can take just enough to be effective but not upset the delicate systemic balance. Good for you. Gregg - I am a big fan of resveratrol. I've used it for at least 3 years and although I can't physically notice any direct effect, just knowing what the literature says is comforting that it has so many beneficial properties. You probably weren't reading here when this thread was running... FYI - comments here about the product quality and which forms to use and why. <; Jaby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi James - That's the nature of afib. It is never truly gone but can be in signifiant remission until something influential crops up...like stress...and certainly stress with moving etc... new environment of the new residence, etc. If you aren't on a program using the Essential Trio, at the very least, you defnitely should consider it. Stress depletes magnesium and potassium... oftby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sue - yes, many people have found that connection. The Conference Room Session #54 is devoted to that observation as a potential for eliminating or controlling AF. CR #61 also has testimonials from people able to manage their AF through various nutritional supplements and dietary changes. Gluten sensitivies cause inflammatory responses and for some afibbers, it can be the culprit. Plus youby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Sharon - sorry to see this post. By now, I hope you are back in NSR. As you acknowledge, upsetting your delicate systemic balance is often the culptit. As for going to the ER in 24 hours, you recall that my instructions were to let them know after 24 hours and then be prepared to go for cardiovesion in the next 24 in order to be under that 48-hour rule. Many of mine lasted around 27 hoursby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Peter - unfortunately, with most chelation, you do need to be supervised by a physician because when you pull out the toxic heavy metals, the good minerals also come with it and then you need therapeutic replacement doses. I did read recently about natural means to help detoxify via various foods. I'll try to find some web links for you to review. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sheila - that's really good. People have often complained that if they overdid the magnesium and potassium, the result was just what you've reported. The key is to find the right dosing that keeps you in NSR but also will not produce the IBS symptoms etc. Glad you cut back. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gregg - I'm glad your supplement regimen is working and I do believe that you'll notice a even more improvement once you receive and start using your powdered potassium. I just wouldn't be without it... and I thought after 4 years post-ablation, I was 'golden'... but know now that I really have to be careful about optimizing all those additional nutrients and electrolyteby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Dennis - S. boulardii is therapeutic for those who have specific gut issues... as a routine protiotic, it's not typically included in the mix of strains. For just maintaining gut health, it's probably better to use one of those combination products. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Art - I'm very sorry that you are struggling so much with the post-polio issues. There is another former afibber (ablation) that also suffers with post-polio syndrome. I'll try to find his comments and post them here for you in case they may help. You would be a perfect candidate to use the topical magnesium gel, often called magnesium oil. James - Good for you! The cardio work is important but with your high Bp you want to go easy with that and just elevate your HR slightly. The big winner for the work you are doing is the strength training that works on the large muscle groups because for you, with diabetes, that means for hours after you exercise those large muscles, they will keep on burning stored fat and calories. Peter... you might consider backing off on the sauna treatments for a bit while you 'regroup.' You could be losing more electrolytes through perspiration than you are able to replete and when you operate in negative levels, afib is likely to be the result. As for detoxing heavy metals, you will flush out some that are circulating but stored heavy metals have to be freed out of stoby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sheila - have you been tested for parasites and other bowel pathogens including Candida albicans? It's not uncommon to pick up a bug from fresh produce or in restaurant food. I'd also cut back significantly on the potassium gluconate powder to about 3 - 4 teaspoons a day and see what happens. Some people have gastric problems with potassium although the gluconate form is the leastby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Andrew - that's way too rapid for dosing upwards. You have to let the body acclimate to the absorption into all the tissues/cells of your body. It may take you a month or more to optimize the tissue magnesium by dosing very slowly. Do this by adding 100 mg increments every 4 - 5 days. Stop and maintain at the last level if diarrhea develops... then after a week or two, start slowly incrby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Steve - the experts I hear discussing the benefits of exercise emphasize that 20-30 minutes of aerobic activity is all that is needed for a healthy cardiovascular system; they go on to emphasize then that a total workout that benefits all muscle systems is more beneficial for overall health in that all the muscles are used and are toned and fit. Gregg - Lots of posting history here about the fact that serum magnesium is not reflective of intracellular levels and most likely, yours was serum. Extracellular Mg accounts for only about 1% of total body Mg. It's the intracellular magnesium that helps with the cardiac function and keeps us out of afib. Even the Red Blood Cell magnesium is not fully useful for our needs here. That leaby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
