the "greatest generation" is very long-lived, and they have never obsessed over food...... Much can be attributed to that generation and the lack of processed, fast foods with all the preservatives, additives, neurotoxic chemicals added to convenience and packaged foods. Generations in later years have been subjected to a good many changes in whole foods, themselves.... even bad advicby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Well, Hello David!!! That's really too bad about your breakthrough.... but you seem to have targeted the cause. It is unfortunate that it seems that afib is never truly and totally gone in spite of the best of efforts. I'd say you have an excellent record of 5 years and being aware that those 'vices' are triggers should go a long way to keeping you AF free once again. Whilby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
I still say if a diet or eating plan works for you, then that's the one to follow... if you are healthy, have no symptom complaints (aches pains), no diagnosed health conditions, take no Rx drugs and have no afib...then your diet works for you. Otherwise, opening one's mind to all the possibilities is worth a try until you do find the right choice. You may have to experiment with manby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sharon - I can understand your dilemma and hopefully you won't have to make that decision. MCS is multiple chemical sensitivities. Repeated exposure or a sudden exposure to toxins (such as Lynn of San Diego experienced). Good luck back at work. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just as a matter of opinion, Andrew Weil, MD, wrote in his AARP column about The Blood Type Diet. (I personally feel that a diet that helps you feel your best, eliminates the need for drugs and eliminates afib is the one to use since we are all biochemically unique individuals and one one size fitall all.) Sharon - I'm sorry to see your report, but I agree with you that you have made huge improvements and once in 8 months is still a mighty good record. I'm voting for the exposure of the paint and carpet. The off-gassing of chemicals from carpet is severe... you may need a plan to tolerate that office, if at all. Hello Simon and thank you for your well-written account of your afib journey. I agree with Wil about using the flecainide PIP - at least to start. Since you seem to indicate you have now become vagal, stay away from the beta blockers on a regular basis, but using a small dose to convert at the onset of an event is very helpful (I've found). Liz - I use the Armour thyroid because it contains both hormones T3 and T4. I developed a goiter after 10 years on Synthroid probably because my body was unable to convert the T4 to the T3 and the doctors at the time didn't know enough to check on the free T3 levels. I certainly hope that I'll have access to Armour in the future, but reading between the lines, I have that 'sinkiby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

In case you haven't realized it, there is a shortage of Armour thyroid hormone. If you need to refill your Rx, call around immediately to see which pharmacy has any left. Tom - from your post, I detect that you have a 'gut' feeling that you contribute to the tendency toward afib by eating either chocolate or more likely, something that contains sugar... no one really eats plain, unsweetened chocolate. The sugar is typically the culprit. I don't recall, are you taking at least two doses daily of d-ribose? If not, you might add that and stick wiby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Debbie - Did Mike have IV sedation or general anesthesia? I don't recall. If general, the intubation is frequently a source of throat irritation. I'd also think that a degree of ongoing dehydration comes into play. The mucous membranes of the throat and esophagus need adequate hydration. Most of us don't get enough.
