Wyeth Ghostwriting Allegations Investigated Date Published: Monday, December 22, 2008 Quote: A publisher is investigating allegations that Wyeth Pharmaceuticals paid ghostwriters to author favorable articles about its hormone replacement medications that appeared in one of its medical journals. According to The Wall Street Journal, publisher Elsevier decided to look into the allegations, whicby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quote: While smoking is a well-known risk factor for heart disease, it has not been clear whether the habit boosts the risk of AF specifically. The new findings, reported in the American Heart Journal, suggest that it does -- even after a smoker quits. Researchers found that of nearly 5,700 Dutch adults age 55 and older, current smokers and former smokers were about 50 percent more likely to dby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Isabelle - I related this story to a plastic surgeon that I know and asked her opinion on the best approach. She said that a plastic surgeon (if the area will show) or a general surgeon who routinely does lipoma excisions would be appropriate. What you don't want is somone who does not routinely do this. The removal needs to encompass the tumor and then tissue beyond it so it's detby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Welcome Aaron~ sorry you had to meet our group, but you've certainly found a good place for guidance. You've already received good advice. I'd suggest you begin by reading the CR #61 session that George offered and order Hans book. Then make a conscious decision that you are willing to start getting clearing your body of chemicals - drugs and alcohol included that may be contby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Once again, this is off topic, but important enough to spread the word anywhere possible, so I beg your indulgence. Since this group is highly health conscious, its a good place to start as a means of creating awareness and hopefully saving someones life. This concerns a lipoma or fatty tumor which is typically just a fluid-filled fibrous capsule under the skin and usually benign. A friendby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

John L. - Be aware that for some afibbers, carnitine can be too stimulating. I was one who couldn't take it and I believe Hans was another. However, after ablation, I had no problem at all with carnitine. By now I hope the situation has resolved; if not he should be seen by the doctor who did the ablation or emergency care just to be sure nothing serious is wrong. Fluid buildup is not something that should be ignored. Good luck. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
John - How much choline were you taking? Separately or as part of a B- complex? Unless you have a diagnosed deficiency, its not common that people need to supplement with much, if at all, with additional choline although it is typically included In B complex supplements. You may already have abundant stores of choline which is why you are reactive to adding more since it helps build the neurotby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hello David - thanks so much for your very encouraging update. Truly, you have managed to find what works best for your body. You are a classic example of the success people can have if they are willing to be disciplined, experiment and be diligent. I wish you another highly successful year in 2009 keeping the beast at bay. Long may it last. Happy New Year! Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you Joyce... Hans and all. I'm happy to be part of the afib family here. We are a special and unique group. Merriest of Christmases to you all... and a Healthy and Happy New Year with a peaceful heart. May you all be blessed with NSR. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Steve and Claudia - Living 'in the moment' is about the healthiest thing any of us can do whether or not we have AF, but I know that old dread factor dies hard. You know my story by now. I had absolutely no problems post ablation, no ectopics, went off drugs at 2 months... blessed NSR. Then at 103 days... boom... AF that had to be cardioverted. Absolutely fine after that...sameby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Isabelle - start taking lysine immediately. 500-1000 mg 3 times a day. Also, it could be too late for this but there is a drug that stops shingles cold in its tracks.... Famvir... (famciclovir). You have to get it before 2 days, as I recall, but it works miracles. I hope it isn't shingles but rather a pinched nerve. Best to you, Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Dick - that's my take-away as well. Probably depends a good deal on who's prescribing the drug... some cardiologists who aren't really advanced in working with afib seem to stay with the rate control.
