Thank you all so much for your good wishes. I raise my glass of V8 to you, too, Aldona especially, and to all in a toast for continued health and longevity for everyone. I've mentioned previously, but my maternal grandmother lived to be two weeks short of 105....and in very good health until age 102. I certainly hope to have many more good healthy years ahead of me even though that 72 nby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Today marks 5 years since my Natale ablation. I've enjoyed these five blissful years thanks to Dr. Natale. During my 8-year AF journey, I staunchly resisted the notion I would ever consider a procedure that seemed so invasive. While I'm not sorry to have had the ablation, I wish I had either given in sooner or better still, Id have known much earlier the critical importance of managing AF wby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Interesting Liz - I recently tested low on biotin myself even though I take a hefty B complex that includes biotin. I have fibromyalgia that has been in remission for many years and suddenly, it seemed to flare again; my doctor indicated biotin may help. Apparently it helps with many things and while I've not seen anything specific to ectopy or arrhythmia, it still is a B component and wby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
George - they already know many reasons that drive up CRP (silent inflammation) and one prevalent cause is intestinal hyperpermeability (leaky gut) which allows all sorts of molecules to enter the blood stream - (some of that ws covered in the silent inflammation post and also the one on No More Heartburn.) Janet - the sodium/potassium pump cellular mechanism relies on magnesium to function . In heart cells, this is critical. I can't imagine why your doctor doesn't understand the basic science of this function. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Pam - if you have any doubts about whether or not statins are beneficial... be sure to go to Duane Graveline MDs website and read some of the links. www.spacedoc.net My theory is that they's pushed statins on just about all the general population and now in order to keep up revenues, they need a new target market and it's deplorable mainstream medicine would consider messing up chiby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gordon - stand by for some of the rebuttals I'll learn about through the nutritional sites I read... reports are sure to be forthcoming. Typically, these studies use wrong forms of vitamins and have many other flaws but they always tend to bias them to make vitamins look bad. The previous vitamin E study is a classic example. They used the synthetic form and then reported negative resulby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
It's not only the depletion of CoQ10 from statins that is of concern. Many other important hormones are also blocked by statins. Just type in statins on the search feature here to call up some fairly recent past posts on the downside of taking statins. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Rick - what does your EP say? It's not uncommon that an ablation for AF unmasks an underlying flutter condition that requires a second procedure. You should have it evaluated. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Mark - we often see reference to the impact that the product of exercise... oxidative stresss/ ROS... has on arrhythmia because of inflammation and tissue remodeling. Holistic medicine advises athletes and heavy exercises to be sure to use plenty of anti-oxidants... the most effective being N-Acetylcysteine (NAC). Christie - I'm sure your doctor mentioned that your vitamin D level needs to be at the very least - 50 or more so obviously, you are low but your husband is seriously low. If he doesn't have arrhythmia, then he may be able to tolerate the high, short term dose and should give it immediate consideration. Lynn - this certainly is a dilemma and especially so with home equipment. Since I had quite a few experiences going to the hospital and being aware of how they monitored Bp, it seemed that only the highly experienced RNs were able to get a fairly reliable measurement and it is true, everyone 'hears differently'... the home version of automatic equipment may or may not record reliably bby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Glen - your friend should be aware of his fibrinogen level and also that of C-reactive protein...both are markers of symptoms that can lead to a higher prevelence of MI and stroke. If he keeps his fibrinogen level down so his blood is not too thick and eliminates silent inflammation that may also cause clumping of platelets, then the 81 mg ASA maybe all he needs. My recommendation would be to work with an endocrinologist who is as knowledgeable in that field as Dr. Pinski is in his. Christy, most of the functional medicine MDs I follow are not recommending the high-dose (50,000IU) but rather a minimum of 2000 IU and optimal doses of 4,000 IU daily. Having your blood levels checked every couple of months is also important along with your calcium measurement to be sure you are handling the vitamin D properly and not creating problems with the parathyroid gland. Ritze, I would think if you need it as frequently as 4 times a week, then you may as well be on it full time so the drug has a chance to work. Most of the posters using PIP have events spaced out making them only occasionally. I'd check with your EP. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
If you are deficient in intracellular magnesium, then adding potassium can and often does cause more arrhythmia. You can ask your doctor to order a standard serum potassium and a special red blood cell magnesium level test so you know for sure. Leg cramps are a classic sign of magnesium deficiency.
