Refined Omega 6 oils are worse than naturally-obtained cold-pressed oils. Some unrefined Omega 6 oils are actually therapeutic but have to be balanced out in ratio so there is more Omega 3's than 6's. Good book on therapeutic use of oils... Apparently, if one has had a previous ablation, the current EP does like to see from a CT scan if there is prior evidence of stenosis...that way he knows what he's dealing with, and also won't be blamed for causing it if symptoms arise after the subsequent procedures. As for a first ablation, I would think it would be smart to avoid as much radiation exposure as possible. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Gordon - Tea Tree oil, oil of oregano and grapefruit seed extract applied to the nail either separately or in combo are reported to work well. Remember that this fungus is self-perpetuating, so if you wear the same shoes that are also infested with the fungus, you will re-innoculate your nails continually. You must get the shoes dried out and eliminate the fungal growth. I've read thatby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Sally - if you don't mind, what are your thyroid profile numbers...including the TSH. Were you measured for free T3 and free T4? as well as thyroid antibodies? It's well known that being either too "hypo"... or too "hyper" thyroid can promote atrial fibrillation in some individuals. Russ - in a heart attack - MI - there is lack of blood flow (supply) to certain areas of the heart muscle and this results in ischemic tissue...(dead tissue) which tpically involves far more tissue than the small amount of burns from ablation. I don't think you can say an ablation amounts to the same damage as MI and ischemic tissue. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

George - that's really good news. Thanks for reporting your success. Pharmaceutical grade, molecularly distilled Omega 3's have long been known for their anti-inflammatory properties which undoubtedly is why you were helped. Omega 6's from refined oils such as corn and soy are really dangerous to consume for many reasons. The important thing is to select a fish oil that is assaby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've flown many times during my afib career...sometimes, I flew with afib. Not a problem for me. The main issue is to remain well hydrated and avoid drinking alcohol and coffee which are both dehydrating. Since it's typically no longer possible to move about the cabin while airborne, it's a good idea to do some leg exercises while seated to keep blood circulating and avoid blby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sharon - I must be going blind...I'm looking at the label and I don't see Betaine HCl.... I do see pancreatin which does help break down protein but that's not the same thing. David, I can understand how tastes differ, but I also use the potassium gluconate powder from NOW and find it has a mildly salty taste and I just stir it into water... I even added it to a salt shaker to add to food if I want something a bit salty. For me, the taste isn't objectionable at all.. but we are all different. Sharon - the Source Naturals does not contain the betaine HCl... Good for everything else but not necessarily strong enough for protein in a stomach that is not producing adequate natural HCl... My personal experience is I love the product you take and use it regularly but when I eat protein, I either add just Betaine HCl or use the NOW Super Enzymes that works well for protein. Sharon - sorry to see your post. Take comfort in the fact that you converted fairly quickly. An occasional afib event that self-converts is far better than subjecting yourself to the ablation and all that entails.... or even having to be on heart meds, so I'd say your nutritional program is highly successful and well worth your efforts. I've learned over the years if I let my potassium levels fall much below 4.5, I will be apt to have some breakthrough arrhythmia. The dose Hans offers - 3 teaspoons a day to supplement potassium-containing food works well to keep me in NSR. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Mike - This is an interesting question... we've never really delved into the elemental part of the potassium supplementation requirement as we did with the magnesium... Most people here using the potassium gluconate take enough to reach the minimum of 3 grams (total) a day - others go on to take more powder because the diet is lacking or they are using it quickly. Mike - you need a good base (intracellularly) of magnesium. Then you need daily optimal stores of potassium as that is really helpful for prolonging the refractory period. Short periods lend toward increased AF.
