Barb - glutathione is highly effective in detoxifying the body as well as an antioxidant and neurotransmitter and you may find it useful...if you can take enough. Typically it's provided in an injectible form for efficacy. Lynn of San Diego goes in for a 'push' injection and it's worked well for her. The precursor to glutathione is N-acetyl cysteine. That's easy enouby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Philippe - There have been people posting they had breakthroughs six months or longer after ablation but then went on to have no more arrhythmias. As with everything else in the afib world, it probably depends on the individual as well as the procedural success. I had breakthrough arrhythmia post ablation at 103 days that had to be cardioverted at hour 39. I then went on for four more yearsby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Neil - have you considered taking Arginine as opposed to the Rx drug that has some side effects? If you haven't read the Conference Room on Arginine supplementation by George Eby and ensuing input, you can view here: Just remember that along with arginine, it's wise to also take l-lysine to help prevent an imbalance and risk a shingles outbreak. Pat not everyone is sensitive to calcium supplements. If your magnesium intake is adequate and your intracellular stores are optimal, then you may be able to tolerate calcium supplements as long as the ratio is 2 of magnesium to one part calcium. Yes, those forms do count as calcium. The difficult part to determine (unless labeled) is the amount of elemental calcium provided in each suppleby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Stevie - I took Betapace for a bit over a year when I first became an afibber. It did me no good and I felt terrible on it. From information that I later learned here, I was a vagal afibber and this drug is not helpful for vagals. I had seen two cardiologists who both recommended sotalol. I had to change cardiologists again before I was able to switch to an appropriate antiarrhythmic. If yoby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sue - do you know for sure, by way of testing by your physician, that your kidneys are healthy and functioning properly? Potassium replaces sodium inside the cell and when it does this, the sodium gets flushed out the body and it takes water with it. Constipation might come about if you aren't hydrating well on a daily basis... this would be about half your weight in ounces of water... ie,by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

James - check out this info by Dr. Murray - you can trust what he says about herbals. I have not read any contraindication for Saw Palmetto and taurine. Taurine does act like a diuretic so beware of that issue. This website says do not take aspirin with S.P. Also see:by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Tish - I do not have a link that I can give you as reference... I've just heard that comment very often by researchers when explaining food sensitivities. They indicate a correlation between the change in tolerance levels to the surge in GM foods now in use. That's why they and others emphasize it's important to consume organic foods that do not have gene modification. You are cby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Eric - the research on magnesium depletion and subsequent repletion indicates that some individuals may respond well in several months, in some - it may take 6 months or more, and some may never reach repletion levels that are considered optimal. You just have to start using it and ramp up the dosage gradually - every 3 - 5 days - increase the dose by 100 - 200 mg and see what improvements yoby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Bryan - looks good like a good summary. As far as the ginkgo and gingseng are concerned, everyone is different, but neither ever gave me a problem with afib and I've never seen a contraindication except for when on warfarin (with the ginkgo). Ginseng, depending on which type, can be very supportive to the adrenal system ie, Siberian ginseng is especially calming to the adrenals. Most peoby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Barb - sorry I don't recall exact dosages- at first I took Betapace for a year but don't remember that dosage. Worthless drug. Then Toprol XL for at least 3 years and I believe it was 50 mg BID. After learning here from Hans that beta blockers don't help vagal afibbers, I stopped the Toprol and began to have success turning around the insulin resistance. It took quite a while.by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Good find, Peggy. It could be a bit overly optimistic on the time efficacy but there is little doubt that for people with sensitivities to gluten - and they don't have to be diagnosed as true 'celiacs' - gluten avoidance eliminates many physical symptoms so that the patient feels almost as if a miracle has happened. Curt - after my ablation almost 5 years ago, I was sent home with an instructional sheet as to what to do and not do. One statement cautioned that for 6 - 8 weeks the heart is in a state of high irritability from the burns and until the healing is complete, one should expect 'activity'. If the taste is residual in your mouth some hours after taking the potassium, I suggest you are not drinking enough additional pure water. Adequate hydration is extremely important and especially so when you add the potassium as it pulls sodium out of the body and with the sodium goes water so you can be in a bit of a deficit for water. The reason for the organic is so that it is not distilled or heated which kills the natural (beneficial) enzymes. Organic means you don't have to process the pesticides sprayed on the growing apples, either. I don't mind the taste of the organic vinegar at all.
