Dean - Pam Walters has posted several times on taser use and fatalities. Just recently here in Ohio, a taser was used on an unruly young man who was drunk, disruptive and wouldn't follow police orders. He later died and now there is a good deal of press about when they should be allowed or banned, etc.by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Kees - I agree with George. Before you ever let anyone destroy your SA node... be sure you have consulted with a top expert. Too many think that destroying the node is a quick solution but as you point out, you may be left with a flutter. So what sense does that make? Dr. Natale has tackled many difficult flutter ablations and it would be worth getting his opinion on your situation.by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Susan - no question that MSG is a trigger. It's been targeted many times as a culprit. Further, it is a potent neurotoxin so it doesn't do the brain any good either. As for the theanine I use, Jarrow 100, it is a synthesized version which does not contain any of the green tea elements such as caffeine or any vitamin K that would be of concern to anyone using coumadin. Doug - For me, it was the position of the diaphragm that made all the difference and I probably would have never made that association except I began to have a series of hiccoughs regularly which was very unusual for me. Hiccoughs are a spasm of the diaphragm and can indicate a magnesium deficiency. So I headed for my holistic chiropractor and the rest is history in my story. Consider finding a functional medicine MD who can order an adrenal stress profile test for you to evaluate your cortisol production. Martin - that's a good observation. I recall that when I was taking the beta blocker (Toprol XL) on a daily basis, my HR which was typically around 60 - 68 often went down to around 50 - especially in the early evening and if I sat down to watch the news after eating. I found that that low rate was enough to set off afib . Eventually, I stopped the beta blocker after reading here that theby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
When I was under alot of stress and still had afib, I took it several times daily. Now, if I feel stressed over something or perceive that I will have a stressful encounter, I take a prophylactic dose and carry some with me. I do this very rarely these days, thankfully, but it's a comfort to know it works so effectively if I do need it. I had also planned after the first breakthrough Aby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

David - It's wise of you to check before you take anything since you aren't in the class of Lone AF. For those with LAF, most likely one of the benefits is that lowering of heart rate. One man I worked with a few years ago who took theanine at the onset found it converted him within 20 minutes.... I thought at the time it was just because he was overly-stressed, but it could also haby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Gay - I can't really describe what my personal chiropractor does as it's a multi-pronged approach, but nevertheless, it does push and pull down on the diaphragm muscle during timed breathing exercises to breathe in - hold and exhale. As I've previously mentioned, it took about 5 treatments before I had no further breakthrough arrhythmia while taking flecainide. I don't haby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Isabelle - yes - you go in for fasting glucose and insulin. If you do the Glucose Tolerance Test, you drink the liquid glucose and then do draws every hour for 4 or 5 hours and the levels of both glucose and insulin are recorded. It isn't enough just to have one measurement as it doesn't tell the whole story of your ability to handle glucose. Since I feel that test is too severe forby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

If it works for this, it might be interesting to experiment with significant dosage of NAC with LAF since NAC is a potent antioxidant, detoxifier and helps with production of Glutathione. If yu decide to experiment, be sure you research thoroughly so you understand the actions and contraindications for NAC. Jerry - just remember some 'professionally designed research' may not tell the whole truth as study authors tend to bias the results according to who funded the study and some studies have ghost authors for the final publication sometimes because the original authors refuse to sign the biased reports. Randy - as difficult as it may be, I'd work on getting rid of the sweet tooth as eating sweet isn't healthy, makes afib worse and if you can't handle the glucose, you will eventually become diabetic.
