William - you can't do much better than use oil of oregano!!! It's very potent and there are studies out of Georgetown University that found it kills bugs including virus.(published in 2001) As you may recall, I'm a huge proponent of using essential oils of plants for wellness... organic, of course. Just for those who are curious... North American Herb & Spice has the very best oil of oreganoby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Barry - Thanks - I've been known to have a typo or or two... but in this case the 1000 is correct. So that I didn't give incorrect information I went to Michael Murrray's Enyclopedia of Nutritional Supplements and he notes for Thiamin (B1) that there is no associated toxicity. He comments that clinical resuls of thiamin intake (3 to 8 grams) that's 3,000 to 8,000 mg haby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
That would make sense as the nasogastric tube still goes down the back of the throat and time-wise, it has to be an irritation. Fortunately, it does heal with time.by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes Barry - When I posted on the interview with the cardiologist Patrick Fratellone, he commented he always suspects "Bugs in the Heart" and takes steps first to learn if there are any so he can treat them. Bugs come in many varieties. <; As for canker sores or mouth ulcers (apthous ulcers)... Dr. Sherry Rogers says that is caused from hidden food allergies, not viruses likeby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Flash - you should do a google on the drug name and the word "contraindication" - and then do it in reverse for the product and the drug name as a cross check. Joe - thanks for your report. It's good to see you are doing well and have benefited from this website. I found it to be a lifeline. It's good to know of an EP in St. Louis. Keep us posted on your progress. Be well and be kind to your heart until it is fully healed. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Theresa - be careful that fiddling around doesn't stimulate your thyroid. Dr. Natale told me that if I became hyper, I could go into afib. I would also stay away from calcium supplementation unless you are sure your intracellular stores are optimal at all times with magnesium. Even then, the amount of calcium in supplement form should be small compared to your daily supplementation of mby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Michael - read the labels - the very fine print- to be sure that the magnesium glycinate is the patented version by Albion Labs. All chelated products are not created equal. The Albion process is the one we've had the most success with because it doesn't create bowel tolerance issues until you reach doses that are quite high. The other important reason is the Albion chelate does notby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jim - Do you know if you were intubated during the procedure? Often when that's the case, there is some residual irritaion in the throat etc that does eventually disappear but it's certainly annoying until it does. Im going to interrupt my No More Heartburn project to post this timely clip from an interview I just heard on Stress and Illness, but more specifically, the part mentioning Stress and the Heart. We often talk about afibbers typically being stressed individuals; Alan Sosin, MD, of this interview details how prolonged, chronic stress regardless of the source, can be damaging. George - Good recall. You are correct. I had amazing results in stabilizing the efficacy of flecanide with those supplements that I call the Essential Trio. I did seriously consider delaying my ablation procedure to see what I could live with but at the time (age 67) and a threat of losing the fantastic insurance coverage we had at the time - I thought it was best to keep the date. Thanks for posting your success story, Pamela. I'm so glad you were able to see Dr. Natale here in Cleveland. Enjoy life. Thanks also for sharing your story about the unprofessional behavior. Barb - good idea. Probably the only way you can know for sure about your rhythm patterns will be to wear a Holter monitor for several weeks to see what shows up. That may be something to consider with the new EP. Just be sure when you are checking your neck pulse that you don't push in too hard or hold too long as it shuts off blood to your brain... you can touch the carotid very lightlyby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello Adrian! So, the time has come to consider ablation. I agree, the longer you delay, the more experience they have to help ensure you have a safe and successful procedure. Be sure to let us know when the time arrives so we can send in the angels. Otherwise, how are you these days? Reards, Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
The potential is always there for impurities or additives to be in one brand vs another. Read the fine print on the label - always - many supplements include fillers that can produce reactions in some individuals. Remember that a huge number of vitamin supplements (and Rx drugs) are now being made off shore so contamination risks are elevated as well. Barb - from another aspect, there is nothing in the BB that will prevent a stroke if your blood viscosity is thick or you have inflammatory tendencies that lend to that. The BB just slows down heart rate, doesn't do anything to prevent platelet aggregation. Paul - the point of an ablation is to keep you asymptomatic. (Without symptoms. ) It isn't a 'cure' - at least yet, anyway. The original defect or degredation of the electrical system of the heart is still in place. They only ablated so it would not cause symptoms, they remove the source of the problem. Brian - it's a cruel world out there when it comes to eating out. Soup is not only loaded with sodium... but worse, it's loaded with MSG. Hidden or not. Joyce - Are you sensitive, generally, to dairy products? If so, then based on what I've been writing in the No More Heartburn series, you probably have a sensitivity to the dairy proteins which kick in when you take in even a small quantity. Michael - regarding stress and mellowing out. I'm a firm believer that stress is a prime driver of afib. I've proven it to myself over and over. One thing I've frequently mentioned over the years is the use of the amino acid, Theanine, to take the edge off stress. It is not like valium or any of the others similar. It doesn't impair your mental ability, ability to drive, make you sleepy oby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
