David - have you had a recent and complete thyroid profile evaluation?by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dave - you are correct; BB are not good for vagals. I was a vagal and BB often made me much worse - especially the night time dose. Can you see if he would cooperate and give you something else as an option? Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Joyce - thanks for letting us know. How very sad. Please pass along my condolences to Daniel; his mother was a valued participant on this forum and I always enjoyed her contributions. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Matt - break down the words: Supra means above; Ventricular means the lower chamber of the heart; and Tachycardia is fast or rapid heart beat.by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
No question - consult with Dr. Natale at Marin.by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Nick - thanks for posting that. Did anyone evaluate your adrenal function? Weakness or fainting when rising from a sitting or lying position is often a case of weak or dysfunctional adrenals and yes, sometimes, salt does help but moreover, so does nutritional support for proper adrenal function. Did they rule out high altitude syncope/sickness? My only comment about afibbers taking in moby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Pamela - I just came back from a flight to Texas. I had no problem taking my prescription Rx drugs (just in case my heart acted up) and I always pack my supplements in little snack baggies that are labeled. Since I take so many, the week's supply fit nicely in a one gallon ziplock. I placed those in the bottom of the carryon. No problem either - except at the scanning machine - they pby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Suzi - Certainly you can try 5 HTP to raise serotonin but before you start buying and wasting money on this and that....suggest you buy the book, The Mood Cure by Julia Ross. It's about $10 at any of the online book discounters. Well worth the investment. Here's a review in a past post... read this post and then follow the link to the review: <; <; If you want the Michaelby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Matt - have you tried theanine or GABA or 5 HTP? All natural products that do not have withdrawal problems. The anxiety is driven by a deficiency in one of the neurotranmitters needed in the brain. An SSRI will not replenish the neurotransmiter, but will mask the symptoms. Finding the deficiency is the best solution. As Carol suggests - buy the Mood Cure and do the self-questionnaire...itby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
George - I have been following the info on LDN for a while now...it certainly sounds interesting and could be of tremendous value for some individuals. The key is to starting with a very low dose and going up as needed, apparently. One side effect which seems to be bothersome is insomnia. I have just received a raft of info on this and if I turn up anything helpful, I'll post after I haby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
The reason aromatherapy may be reactive to some individuals is first, the purity of the essential oil...if they are petroleum distilled and not organic, one just introduces more excitotoxins into the body. Second, the more reactive a person to pure, steam distilled organic essential oils, the more toxic they are inside and the more they actually need them.... or so the essential oil experts (aroby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Robert - being skeptical of testing beyond the standard conventional labs will leave you out in the cold for catching important metabolic disturbances. You either use a naturopath or you don't, but you can't cherry pick what you think is best without some education to do so. If you stay with mainstream medicine, you won't get those tests. Go to the website of Dr. Kaayla Daniels, author of The Whole Soy Story.... The Dark Side of America's Favorite Health Food. You can google that title and get there. Soy is not innocuous and in fact can be harmful. Her book documents why and each chapter is referened by a minimum of 10 or up to 90 references/chapter. Jby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
If a person has parasites, taking a probiotic probably will not eliminate them. Specific anti-parasitic herbals taken for a long time and then testing to see if removed is the process. Parasites can be killed with Grapefruit Seed Extract and the essential Oil of Oregano capsules. Jby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
The chelation doctors I've heard speaking don't see the results with suppositories that they do with other delivery, but that certainly seems like one method that might be interesting. Expensive though, as I recall. Jby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Kerry - Often if a liver is taxed by meds or other toxins, the enzymes will start to elevate. Fatty liver also becomes a concern as does any scarring that would come from over-consumption of alcohol. There are foods that help with liver cleanse and support and several highly effective herbals that also help restore function. The problem comes when a liver is not functioning opitmally, thby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Robert - yes you may be able to turn around dysbiosis and gut dysfunction to the point where one could also eliminate afib. Certainly those who suffer from leaky gut syndrome have benefited greatly.... You can do the gut testing to see what the status of the GI tract is --- and also determine from that which nutrients are not being absorbed. All it takes is finding the right doctor to do the tby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
The ultimate authority for chelation therapy is Garry Gordon MD... you can google his name and get to his home page. He doesn't do much IV chelation these days but has advanced to his own brand of oral chelation but you do have to have consultations and supervision to do this because the biochemistry has to be balanced and watched. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Be sure that if you do go for chelation, the person doing it understands how important and also tricky it is to do chelation on an afibber because when you chelate, you remove all minerals... and this is the area that can be bothersome as the good minerals go out with the undesirable. Also you have to do a replacement mineral therapy along with chelation so you need to find someone who is extrby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Robert - I did not contact McDougall because by then, I had located a holistic MD who was absolutely against the plan and wanted me to be eating more protein. We bought the taped program and books. Whether or not it helped promote afib would be purely speculation. I did have insulin resistance crop up not long after McDougall but then it could also have been the combination with the beta blby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
It was for me - for all the reasons stated. I was vagal; lowered HR and Bp too low. Others may thrive on it. I did not have hypertension. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tish - I totally agree it can be a problem to be either hypo or hyper. The numbers of undiagnosed hypothyroidism are increasing and even now, many doctors aren't in tune with the lowered TSH levels for diagnosing, even though the guidelines were changed several years ago. All afibbers should have a complete thyroid profile done with specific attention to the TSH level that should be 2.0by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
DavidM - 50 mg. of flecanide twice a day may not be a large enough dose if you are a large man. One of the former posters here who went on to have ablation found that he could eliminate breakthrough arrhythmia by going up to 150 mg. twice a day. The flutter may or may not be a problem with flecanide. When I had flutter, they still kept me on flecanide. I was on that dose as well but still hadby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Tom - one of the major properties of Hawthorn is to help lower blood pressure. For some afibbers, this is not good. I was one and I believe Hans was another who could not tolerate Hawthorn. So... as usual ... it's an experiment to try to see if this herb works for your unique biochemistry. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Robert - years back and before I had afib, I tried the McDougall plan along with 2 other people. WE bought into the whole program. I followed strictly for two months. Not long after that one person became reactive hypoglycemic and I followed shortly thereafter with the same symptoms and not long after that I had my first afib event; the third, went on to have insulin resistance after hypyglyceby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Kate - I control hypothyroidism with Armour Thyroid, although I've had symptoms of it for years even though my thyroid profile numbers are all inthe preferred range. I took Synthroid for 10 years and ended up with a goiter and still was hypo, as well. Some people can take it; it did nothing for me. I had it before afib and continue to have the symptoms after ablation. I do know that ifby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
