Doug - I really don't know anything about this product other than what I read on the website. I'd actually like to see the label so could see the amounts of EPA and DHA and other specifics about the product other than what they have on the web list under ingredients which isn't helpful. David - there was just recently another post on tyramine-containing foods... blue cheese is one.... most aged cheeses, really. But, consider also that often soups contain 'flavor enhancers' which are basically things like hydrolyzed yeast and MSG and can definitely also be a trigger. Often, too, is the fact that soups are typically high in sodium and if you are low already on potaby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
David - I've had it twice here in Cleveland, Ohio.... it's best not to have eaten within 3 - 4 hours prior. They gave me an IV drop of light sedation, applied some patches in the front and back and then zapped with the paddles. The first time I felt nothing; the second, I felt some jiggling in the heart area but no pain. I was awake again almost immediately and had to hang around foby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Susan - yes. No added sugar. I'm curious though, why you think yogurt should help you as I know you have mentioned you have Crohn's disease and dairy is definitely contraindicated for Crohn's patients and and it is known to increase bowel irritation and add to the complication that an inflamed bowel will not absorb nutrients - which would include calcium. Hi Jack - no - in my case.... it was always a struggle to remain active while taking flecanide and worse with the previous combo of flec and toprol. In the 4 years I took the flecanide, I think my stamina decreased a bit each year. I blamed it on the drugs - not my advancing age But as you know, we are all different. Well said, Brian. There is definitely a concern from internal bleeding when on coumadin and from what I've read, the complication may not even show up immediately after an injury. I think everyone has the option to do as they choose, but not to expect heroics to save their lives after doing something really stupid when they knew it was high risk behavior to begin with. That's reallby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Susan - don't kid yourself that there is no sugar - just no sugar added.... and some of it is sweetened with honey which is still sugar. If it works for you, fine, but too many carbs from milk sugar for me and my chemistry. Anytime something is labeled fat free, they make up for it by adding carbs for 'mouth feel' appeal and consistency. My functional medicine MD always says nevby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Jim for the clarification. Some of the nutritionists think we should be making small batches of mayo (if we must eat it) from scratch, ourselves, with a raw egg and olive oil and the typical seasonings, etc. I've just decided not to use it or if I do, use one made with olive oil - very sparingly. Something I can do without as overall, it isn't all that healthy or meaningfulby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, Hans, how soon I forget all the valuable explanations tucked away in your book. So glad you are here to point us to them as a reminder. For sure.... I was vagal and so the explanation fits. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Mike - hang in there - you'll be fine fairly soon. It's a fairly large insult to your body and after three of them, I'm sure you are sick of it all. Steve - electrolytes and adequate hydration. Did you ever try that EmerGenC by Alacer that I mentioned many times. For me, it was a true livesaver on the golf-course. The packets are very portable and easy to add when you start to get that 'sinking' feeling. Almost an immediate perkup. Then when you are finished, sit and hydrate and don't forget that you'll need some soby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
According to that interview with researcher, Dr. Judy, failing hearts and kidneys need coenzyme Q10. I recall hearing Dr. Sinatra say he fed his elderly dog CoQ just to keep him aging well. I would not want to be without my CoQ, that's for sure! Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carol - I look at it this way, when I have to go to the hospital.... If I want to rest and luxuriate, I'll go to a spa or stay home where I'm happy and comfortable. If I need to be helped by medical professionals, then I go with the idea that it will not be a picnic and take my ear plugs, my essential oils for calming, a good book and fully expect not to get much sleep. JimM- please don't think I'm being deliberately argumentive, but also please do not rank olive oil in the same category along with canola. Extra-virgin, first cold-pressed olive oil is healthy. Canola is not. It's a refined product that no one should use. We've covered this previously on other posts you can find through the search engine. Cheri - that's good to know but also another good reason to choose organic, free-range animal products - to avoid the antibiotics and vaccines given animals because raising in the typical crowded conditions is related to a high disease (and mortality) rate. Thanks Susan for your update. Good news for you to be in that 90 plus success rate category. Be well. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Kerry - I hate to be persistent about this, but my question about defining success also included whether no afib was with or without medication and I didn't see that addressed in the responses. Perhaps I missed it in another post? Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
JimM - The FDA can't handle the responsibility it currently has, - let alone warn the public about hidden food additives. Public awareness forums do a far better job of listing the those to avoid because they have no vested interests to protect. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carol - Fran was very much into the tyramine issues several years back and posted numerous findings. However, in the end, she concluded that tyramine was not a culprit for her. Jessica - it would be my advice to stay off the scooter while on coumadin. At the very least, you should wear a helmet. The risk of intracranial hemorrhage should be a concern if you have a head trauma. Do a google search on emergency medicine, head trauma coumadin, and see what you think after reading what is written. Good luck with your ablation. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, Marian - that helps envision the size of the hole. My neighbor had an aborted ablation for the same reason; couldn't get through the septum but she didn't have one of the top docs. Well, just to show we are all different - I was up to 300 mg a day and had the continual daily or everyother day breakthrough arrhythmia. Then I did the heroics mentioned and I went to zero breakthrough on the same dose of 300. When I cut down, I was down to 50 mg flecanide and then zero, but that's when the afib came back with a vengeance. So I just continued with 50 mg. at night whby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Jim - thanks - I don't think most should self-medicate with pregnenolone as it is a hormone and without testing, you can definitely get into trouble. If you can break the leptin resistance (which takes time) weight loss will occur. A strict Paleo diet will also accomplish much the same thing as Rosedale is 'paleo' in concept. Valda - while I am not endorsing that your husband stop flecanide, I would like to share what I did for a short time. I was told to do this by my MD who was not a cardiologist. Hi Jim - I'd be careful with supplemental calcium. It is excitatory to muscle tissue and makes the muscle contract.....the heart is a muscle. In the absence of optimal magnesium stores in the cell (heart cells) calcium will rush in and occupy the cell and exert its excitatory property once there. I was one afibber who could not take supplemental calcium. I would urge you to considerby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
