PJ - the "l" designation always preceeds an amino acid. For convienience, typically the l is dropped. It's the same thing. I've used the taurine from Hans website for years with great success. I take one 1,000 mg. capsule with each meal. Either Jarrow or NOW brand would be fine. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Joyce - I don't mean to hijack your post but since you bring up the genetic link, this is a perfect opportunity to share some publications on sources of afib incluging the genetic factor. I think in the future, if genetic research ever seriously targets afib, we'll see that there is some form of damage to DNA that creates a gene expression as a result of some environmental influence that eitheby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
George - cardiomyopathy definitely can progress to HF especially when the EF is so low. That's one of the huge risks and why the heart muscle needs to get as much energy as possible generated in the mitochondria. CoQ is one that has found to be helpful, but the best way to go about that is with a physican's supervision and high doses. I knew a man who found a holistic MD after heby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Be very wary of signing on for experimental studies on new drugs hoping to get approval. Even the approved ones are risky so who knows what a study participant might receive during the trial. Just say no to these types of trials. Forewarned is forearmed. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks William - Fructose is very bad for us and it seems to permeate anything packaged or bottled. Everyone needs to be aware. Whole foods selection eliminates that problem. I've not been one to buy packaged foods or anything with fructose or high fructose corn syrup. I blame stress for depleting much of my magnesium back in the days before I found this BB and became enlightened. Jackby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Glenn - I agree with Kagey - give it time - maybe as long as a year after ablation. Everyone reports different time lapses between ablation and full recovery with no symptoms. Definitely at this stage, your heart is healing. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Susan - since the site doesn't go into detail, I would assume it is the synthetic folic acid. It's the least expensive form so I'd just think that's what is supplied pharmaceutically. Just a guess since I couldn't pull up any product details from the site you list. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Mark - You certainly have a lot on your plate. What does the doctor say about your son's heart beat? I would zero in on the viral aspect. There are many integrative cardiologists here that firmly believe arrhythmias are the result of infectious organisms that reside in the heart and blood vessels. I'll try to find some of the references and let you know how they approach the diagnby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Great News, Sharon. Perhaps she can wait a bit before making the decision on the ICD to see how the nutrients work. It can take several months for it all to kick in. There was mention of ICDs in a recent article that I can't access without subscription, but here's the title. Perhaps a google will turn up the text from another source: Failure Rate of ICD Leads Are Greater Than Exby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Mark - how sad for you both. When I see ejection fractions down so low, the first thing I think of is Coenzyme Q10. I've just posted an article on it which includes a mention of failing hearts, but there are many other papers written on the use of CoQ10 and low EF. Hopefully Hans or PC can offer you some medical expertise. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dear Lois~ Thanks for sharing your story. My heart goes out to you for the suffering and the uncertainty of it all. I am glad to see you are going to pursue further consults before submitting to the nodal ablation. I certainly wish there were something we could do to help you, but I whole heartedly agree that keeping inflammation down is critical to recovery. I responded recently to a post on folic acid and other B vitamins the other day and Ive been bothered ever since by my failure to explain an important fact about folic acid. While overall, it may not matter, but the form of folate used may have a direct effect on homocysteine lowering, especially if there is some interference or dysfunction of the methylation pathway. John - sounds like your good attitude has returned. You probably do have them nervous over the lawyer thing. That should get you every possible consideration for a careful job. Susan and all - thanks for responses. It certainly could have been impurities in the ginkgo, fillers, other impurities included in that particular brand or even in the material used in the capsule that was a trigger. fillers. And for some individuals, it would be entirely reasonable to assume it was an incompatibility with the ginkgo, itself ....or it could be entirely coincidental. As farby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Do not take Ginkgo biloba with warfarin/Coumadin. Neurosurgeon, Russell Blaylock, MD, says in his July 06 newsletter that Ginkgo biloba, at the higher dosage, is equivalent to taking one to two aspirin a day in terms of anti-coagulation. He says this makes it excellent in preventing heart attacks and strokes. There are numerous studies on Ginkgo biloba for reduced platelet aggregationby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hi David - I can surely appreciate the frustration you experienced going for your heart evaluation.
