Regarding the last statement "100 mg of CoQ10/day" I'd like to comment that additional Q10 is "critical" and 100 mg daily may not be nearly enough, depending on how much is depleted by the statin dose. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Suzette - what type of a doctor is helping you with your blood pressure? I become very disenchanted with a doctor who wants to prescribe an anti-depressant when blood pressure isn't controlled. I don't know your whole history, nor am I a doctor, but my advice would be to get a second or even a third opinion about working on your blood pressure first and not copping out with an antidby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carol - I was a 'mostly vagal' afibber and any bending or scrunching of the midsection frequently set off an event - even bending over from the waist to place my golf ball on the tee could trigger, or sleeping on my right side. After a successful ablation in 11/03, I can do anything imaginable with posture not even trigger a PAC. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Alex - I took buteyko instructions and practiced the breathing - still do to some extent. It didn't help prevent my afib events, sorry to report, but the increase in CO2 should elevate pH enough to make a difference if that were contributory, which, apparently, it wasn't the whole story. It's still a very healthy way of breathing and will correct/prevent sleep apnea and a wholeby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Theo - These people are always on the top of my list when I go for reference material... this one and www.statinalert.org is invaluable. Dr. Uffe Ravnskoff's articles along with Peter Langsjoen, MD, should not be missed. They are the leading experts in why statins are detrimental to the body. Dr. Langsjoen's family pioneered Coenzyme Q10 so he is well known in that area as well. Ifby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Bob - does it say who funded the study? 20-40 mg. of Lipitor is a high dose and with time, will pretty much deplete CoQ10 so I'm not totally surprised it didn't affect afib since the heart mitochondria need CoQ10 to function. Philippe - The Exatest is the most accurate measure of intracellular magnesium and potassium. Serum blood approximates IC potassium but serum magnesium may not be at all reflective of IC Mg stores. Your doctor can request a red blood magnesium test which will give IC magnesium levels but the most accurate is Exatest and your doctor can order that in for you as well. DavidB -I can appreciate your disgust at the return of afib. I would also speculate that it could have been MSG but more than likely, it was too much added salt in the pizza which competes for potassium inside heart cells (and wins) and the fact that starchy carbs create demand for insulin which also pulls out the critical potassium stores. Couple the potassium loss with MSG or other chemical tby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Larry - I had 38 minutes of fluoroscopy time during my PVI ablation at the CCF with Dr. Natale that lasted start to finish just under 3 hours. I weighed the risks and decided it was worth it. They only use the fluoroscopy pedal intermittantly; not the whole time you are on the table. Eventually, there will be techniques used that eliminate or shorten drastically the use of fluoroscopy becausby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
