Keith - Congratulations...that's a wonderful testimonial to your doctor and his skill. Thanks. Encouraging, too, for anyone who has to do a similar procedure. Keep us posted on how you are doing. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Woodcliff and all..... you have to call Willner.... they do not put some products on the web site because of pricing restrictions....but you can buy it online at other sites as well. You can find Phytoprofen at Thorne Research.... It is not an obscure product and neither is Thorne. Here is the website... You can type in google...Thorne Research Phytoprofen and receive 53 hits on the produby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carol - yes and this is another downside of antacids..... however Tums and some of the others are now using calcium as the buffering agent. .... and so you have the other risk of too much calcium. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sarah - it is thought that mercury amalgam fillings do have some contributory effect on AF, but people on this forum have had their mercury amalgams removed and still report AF. That said, it is critically important that if you would have all your amalgams removed, that they be done in accordance with strict removal procedure and precautions and that includes a special air evacuation systemby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Kestra - The perio aid is a great homecare aid and I frequently recommended it...however, it has limitations for the interdental spaces too tight to accomodate the size of the toothpik and also in pockets that are too deep... it just isn't effective....nor is floss when they are too deep. The alternatives include what you had, deep tissue therapy which includes deep scaling and also antimby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dean - not to be a smart alec...but the answer is zero. Try natural means before you submit to Bp meds. An excellent product that is all natural comes from the bonito fish and is called PeptACE Peptides mde by Natural Factors.... you can do a Google and learn all about it. It is very effective and no side effects. At one time, my bp pressure was erratic and I took PeptACE and it normaliby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Toml - if you plan to do the RTA route, be sure you have plenty of time to make your appointment.... that is if you fly in for a morning appointment, you will need ample time to do the RTA and make cab connections. It isn't easy. Although expensive, the cab fare is worth it. I have the name of a local taxi contact if you want the number. Several people have used her by reservation.by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jeanne - I hear you. Truly, I do. There is a certain amount of post PVI anxiety that comes with every little twitch or skipped beat. Forgive me, but I don't remember what you've written about taking extra magnesium and potassium. If you aren't, might you consider doing it? Also, something to lessen any inflammation that might be driving the irritation and the ectopy. Iby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Richard - after you check out all the gastro possibilities or maybe while you are evaluating that, be sure to have your doctor palpate your thyroid to see if there is an enlargement. If this enlargement is big enough, it can interfere with swallowing as well. Sometimes we concentrate so much on the heart, we forget the other possibilities that are obvious. Good luck. Michael... calcium is not a good mineral for afibbers. Excess calcium, especially, is not good for anyone since it tends to collect in soft tissue. The kidney stones are probably from oxalate, but free calcium will accumulate in blood vessels and is especially bad when it is in coronary arteries and the aorta, etc. Excess calcium displaces magnesium inside the cell and magnesium is neededby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Howie - My prayers to both you and John. Tons of quality Coenzyme Q10 is said to help a poorly functioning heart with low ejection fraction. That his spirit is good is encouraging. Never underestimate the power of the spirit and the will to live. Sincerely, Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Richard.... you describe it just as it is.... less stomach acid is more distress.... there is just tons of information that validates this again and again, yet the drug companies have educated the doctors to disbelieve the purpose of stomach acid in the first place. I'm really glad you were able to correct your problem. I didn't have it nearly as severely as you, but I did have acidby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Isabelle...... I gave up milk long before the AF, but did and still do enjoy some cheese and other dairy products as long as they are organic and now I've located a raw, organic cheese that is tasty which I allow sparingly. At one point, I gave up all dairy for two months. Probably wasn't long enough and I did not notice it did anything one way or the other with AF. Any one interesteby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Babs - gingivitis is totally reversible with good brushing and flossing. Periodontitis is the condition to which gingivitis progresses if not taken care of initially. William - Weston Price, DDS certainly knew what he was talking about....unfortunately, many people don't adhere to a strict enough Paleo diet and the carbs they introduce bring about the high bacterial level. Jeanne - For your peace of mind and if this doesn't settle down at or about 4 months, why not request a 48-hour holter monitor. That's what I did at six months just to see where the flip flops were coming from and if I had any stealth AF that I wasn't aware of. It certainly eased my mind knowing what the random and miscellaneous beats were and that nothing need be done aboutby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Garry - It is my impression and experience, that one has to be started on Flecanide - initially - to see if they tolerate the drug. I was but I then was placed on it - daily.....not on demand. For what it's worth....my instructions from Dr. Natale after ablation/ breakthrough AF/ Cardioversion.... but off all heart drugs was this.... ....at the onset... take a small amount of a beta blocker like Atenolol or Toprol.... so that the heart rate slows down and will permit conversion....wait 20 minutes to half an hour and then take 100 mg. of Flecanide....wait a couple of hours and ifby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hi Jim - You realize, of course, that I didn't write this article...rather it is from Dr. Mercola's web site and he is very much anti-grain for everyone...and has written a book The No Grain Diet..... since it is his theory that most illnesses are rooted in grain consumption. Keith - SVT is a "horse of a different color"....and you are very wise to proceed with the procedure. In fact it is imperative! This is nothing to take lightly and it sounds as if you are in very good hands. That is a great relief to hear. Of course, there are risks with every procedure, but you have just validated your reasons for choosing that doctor and that hospital. Now whaby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Glenn - was all the fish you consumed the Wild variety or farm raised? If farm raised, I'd be suspect of all the chemical contaminants contained in those fish. It's a sad state of affairs that our food supply is so toxic, but if your AF became worse with such a healthy diet, I'd be suspect of the fish. Keith - welcome! Sorry to learn of your afib problems. I'm not a doctor, just a veteran afibber who has recently been ablated, but I would like to comment that with so few episodes and of such short duration, I think your doctor is going way too fast in his treatment plan for you. I'd be nervous too about the invasive test with so few events in my history unless there is a very goodby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
To Richard and Marshal - You can take 5HTP for a safe way to increase serotonin.
