Celiac Disease Finally Getting Attention For a long time, celiac disease--the inability to absorb nutrients--has confounded doctors and patients. Lately, it's received some much-needed attention. In late June, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) held a consensus conference on celiac disease, an autoimmune condition--not an allergy, a common misperception--that's triggered in genby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Isabelle..... this I know, but I don't think it works for the LAA..... my ferritin and fibrinogen levels and "crits" are good.... In fact, my doctor doesn't want any more blood donating for a while..... My blood flows very generously with a tiny scratch. Thanks... Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Marshal~ That's great news. I'll bet it is a welcome relief...and also good news that the AF isn't as troublesome. I agree, the worry about the whatifs can be worse than the event....well, almost. Peggy - I'm also looking for that data. The reference I typed in my potassium article came from Michael T. Murray, ND's book Encyclopedia of Nutritional Supplements wherein he warns of the side effects.... GI distress, pain, stomach pain, ulcers, nausea. I've been looking for some physiological explanation but have been side tracked as of late. I'll be sure to publish whenby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

The truth was posted a few days later ....with the header title stating: Cholesterol panel didn't note ties to drug firms. Anton - I'm glad you posted that because I was thinking that what I remembered when I had the one aflutter episode was that it was very comfortable....and that's why I delayed going to the ER. Then I found out I was in flutter and had to be cardioverted. Whereas, at least for me, there was no question about AFib.... chaotic and wild turbulent pounding inside the chest. Jan - Hans says in his new book, Thrombosis and Stroke Prevention that 50% of the people who have strokes are already taking Coumadin. Not very comforting. If you haven't ordered his book... by all means do so because it is very complete and helps us to understand how to prevent clots through natural sources...the best one seemingly to be the enzyme, nattokinase. Hi all..... I read a post in Cillia's thread about checking for clots within the 48 hour period and I'd like to offer some comments made to me. The CCF has the 48 hour rule if you aren't on coumadin.... you need to be cardioverted within the 48-hour time-frame. Phil..... 400 mg. is about the "average" and "standard" amount that most people need. If you have been on the higher dose for a while, there is no reason you cannot try a lower dose. If your arrhythmia starts again or if you have PACs, then you'll know to increase it slightly. I do emphasize again, however, the need for potassium to be well within the required rangeby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Cillia - I'm very sorry to hear about this recent event which must have been simply dreadful for you. My breakthrough lasted 39 hours and was cardioverted at that hour. It was true AF, not flutter. Phil - lack of potassium can create fatigue. Check your intake via diet and see if you fall in the range of 2 - 5 grams a day.... if not... try boosting it with foods high in natural potassium. I am a retired dental hygienist with 22 years of clinical experience...and we never prescribed antibiotics for anyone with AF including myself, either in my office or in other dental specialty offices.
