Jerry - I'm really sorry to learn about your ongoing problems and truly sorry that magnesium isn't the magic for you that I proclaim.... but.... magnesium is only one piece of the puzzle. Undoubtedly your cortisol levels are very high and this is keeping you "wired." It will be good to have your hormones tested.... including cortisol, I hope. I didn't find anything in the Smayda report - 31 pages.. that said after a while reduce the dose.... but it does say that it's best to work with a physician knowledgeable in amino acids. Jerry - when I began taking taurine, it was last summer and I just began taking one scoop of a bulk powder (or crystals, really) - that was said to deliver 675 mg of taurine a day. I got along well with that and in a couple of months, I increased it to 1 scoop in the morning and one with the evening meal. I've not read there is any reason to work up to any particular dose, but it just seby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Kevin - I haven't gone to quackwatch on this particular topic.... but I must tell you alot of what I've read there ...definitely needs to be put on the quackwatch list, itself. Mike - Great news - whatever it takes! I have a friend who swears that once all his silver mercury amalgam fillings were removed - and he had chelation therapy to remove what was stored in cells - his afib was cured. Enjoy your new-found freedom. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Richard - Sorry to learn the MgG is not helping your situation... I am (was) vagal..... I felt that the magnesium stopped the adrenaline surges that were triggers for afib....and these usually came about during periods when low blood sugar played a part. Carol - That's a great idea to post your experience with the light box. I've never had one but I always use the lamps in the winter - I know it's not the same intensity, but I don't have SAD symptoms. I just prefer to use these lamps in all the fixtures where I read. Jerry - I've not tried Garden of Life, myself, but I understand it is good. What I use and find reliable is the one from UAS Labs called Acidiphilous, DDS.... You want to be sure that bifidus is included in the assortment, so the bottle label should indicate that. the DDS brand is refrigerated. Kyodophilus is also good and doesn't need refrigeration. LeAnn - I would not want to be responsible for telling you that taurine was not harmful to your situation. Both Drs. Braverman and Smayda seem to indicate it has protective properties, but if you have a known propensity toward stomach ulcers, I'd say it is not worth the risk to consider taurine. Karen - you are a sweetheart to be so supportive. That means alot... you have no idea how much it means to the afibber to know that someone really cares about what is happening. My suggestion would be to use only the MgT and go up to at least 800 mg a day. I would also begin supplementing with potassium....look up the food content of potassium (K) and try to push as much as you can with that.by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, Elaine, for your kind words. You are right - if we can't find a cure, it won't be because we didn't try. How much of the mag glycinate are you getting in a day?
